Sildavialand
From the different RP calculators connected with NS (sunset, Spotlite, NS Economy...), which one is the 'good one'? -if there is a good one, that is. Not all give the same figures... Which one are people using mostly? Thank you for your advices and opinions. Link to comment
Adaptus
I don't use them, Personally I believe they do not represent the nation one has created, there only numbers. They do not explain the reality behind them. So I never use them, I create my own economy. I say when a company rises and falls, ect... But then again, Adaptus is on a journey into isolation and Marxism, we're diving into a world free of currency, and markets. ย But yeah I don't think they are a good way to decide your nations strength, it takes away some of the Roleplayness. Sildavialand
Thank you for your answer, Adaptus. I understand what you say. Some days I am astonished about the changing in many figures, which have nothing to do with the items I 'solved' the past days. ย Anyway, the trouble is that without any kind of figures -just these general descriptions in NS- it is difficult to roleplay with others. If there is no common reference to our budgets, currencies, etc..., it is difficult to interact. I have dealed with 'solitary' roleplaying possibilities and variants for years, but I'm trying to put it now a little more in common with NS. ย As Sildavialand, we respect your country's choice of isolation. It's your choice, and this is the main thing in ALL kind of lifes (RP, RL, and whatever...) Link to comment
Haruspex
I personally use the sunset calculator Sildavialand. Link to comment
Deltannia
I'm with Adaptus. I've always just made my own numbers. As long as you make sure you're not godmodding and the realism is there, then you have nothing to worry about. It's more fun that way, I think. Link to comment
Social Democratic Confederation
I use sunset as well, but only because it's the one I have bookmarked... ย I think we ought to use the cals, at least as a basis. Letting everyone make up their own numbers seems to lead to everyone having a colossal economy... Link to comment
Vocenae
Or we can all just continue to trust each other and use the system that has worked for three years. It's not like it's a giant concern anyways. Link to comment
Miiros
I've always used Sunset as a sort of guideline for my economy. Of course, if I wanted to RP some horrible economic crash, I would do it anyway and chuck the calculator out the window. =P Link to comment
Tal Shiar
from my last forum basically we only used the calculator for military budgets and populations and nothing else. All economy stuff was left up to rping. Link to comment
Sildavialand
Thank you to all. I needed some help in looking my way through it. As I said, I'm new in this 'common rp' area. Link to comment
Tal Shiar
One of the best calculators id have to say is the one created on my last forum: see below ย EuropeanAffairs GDP Calculator Username 1:ย ย ย Nation 1:ย The United Socialist States of -Tal Shiar-ย ย Population:ย 98,809,481ย ย Civil Rights:ย Superbย ย Economy:ย Frighteningย GDP per Capita:ย $35,000ย ย GDP:ย $2,148,160,000,000ย ย National Budget:ย $1,640,580,480,000ย Defense Budget:ย $611,914,207,145 ย As I said on my old forum only the population and defense spending are taken into account, everything else is up to rp. I like this calculator better that other becasue it give understandable and easy to read numbers. Now with over 600 some billion dollors in defense spending i can say my military is simular to that of the RL USA's. ย Where as on anyother calculator even with the ten percent rule i would be spending at lease anywhere from 4 to 11 trillion dollors on defense alone. Thats hard to understand from my perspective. ย Now inorder to use my old calculator you need to have an account on the forum, or i coul just change your ns account in my name and then let the cal compute and get the numbers back to you.
