Senator Gaius
There was a hammering on Supreme Commander Ling Cao's door. The Karthene leader was in an irritable mood, with the SMC publically condemning him for replacing General Taros with Colonel Valiani as delegate to the Vanarambaion talks. 'What!?' An aide nervously sidled in. 'What do you want, Captain?' 'Sir...we have a report from Sevrun....' 'Why do I care? Am I the Ambassador?' 'Ambassador-General Prochek is dead , sir...' Ling Cao leaned forward. 'The bloody Sevrunians killed him?' 'No...sir. Gripps has....exploded.' Â Ling Cao stared at his aide for a minute. Then he threw his arms in the air. 'sh*t! Couldn't they have picked a better time?' Link to comment
Tamurin
OOC: Some bang... Â Â --- Voice of the Republic --- Â Massive nuclear explosion in Sevrun? Â Reports are coming in that a massive nuclear explosion of several hundret megatons of TNT has destroyed a huge amount of landmass in Sevrun. If satellite images are correct, Sevrun now is without a landmass populated by several dozen millions of people. Â Earthquakes and flashes of light were seen in the north-east of Tamurin. This seems to support the "nuclear explosion theory". Since the wind comes from south, there is no danger for Tamurin that nuclear fallout will hit our ground. Most of it will go down in the sea north of Sevrun. Â There has been no contact with Sevrun so far. We will inform you when we know something." Link to comment
Jacob Taren
More details have escaped the pancked nation. Â The detonation was not, repeat NOT, nuclear in origin. Nothing official can be confirmed, but certain sources have cited research into anti-matter and singularities as a possible cause. Â No word has surfaced regarding the former leadership, and no one has stepped forward to attempt to regain control. Â The military has fractured in on itself and factionalized. The Royal Sevrunian Navy is the only branch still under a full chain of command, due to a formal fleet inspection at Cornington. Admiral Folshe has declared a full blockade around the country, and is blocking all naval traffic in and out until the incident is resolved. Â The Army and Air Force have taken the worst of the loss of command, and reaction varies by region. Palen is under martial law, and widespread rioting and looting has been reported in the annexed provinces of the south, especially around the provinical capital, Pete. Â Mass quantities of conventional arms have gone missing in the confusion, and contact has been lost with several missile sites spread around the country. Link to comment

Jacob Taren
More news from the former nation of Sevrun. Â Despite military efforts, riots and panic are still widespread, with the only remaining population center under any semblance of control being Palen. Â Admiral Folshe is steadfastly refusing to allow anything or anyone in or out of the area via sea routes. Â The other branches of the military are struggling to maintain control against an increasingly violent and irrational populace. Â There is still no sign of any of the old leadership, and things are only getting worse by the hour. Link to comment

I do, Why deployed a "Grand Fleet" for simple humanitarian task, i doubt there would be many nations wishing to sieze ships full of grain, medicals supplies etc. How much assistance can a battleship offer in distributing supplies. That is, unless you have other motives? Link to comment
Phil VII
A Philian Submarine fleet is in the northern sea area of Europa, and the shockwaves from the explosion put the sonar operator in the sick bay for weeks. The Submarines are nearing the afflicted area as we speak, and radio communication with the Sevrun people has been varied. The fleet is hoping to establish a base camp at the small section of Sevrun left between the hole and the area 120. This can serve as base camp for forign aid that will come to the nation. The Philian North sea fleet with aircraft carriers is also makign its way to evrun, with several large aid packages to attempt to stabilise the country. Â In response to Kant's worries over the dployment of militery ships, this nation has just had it's capital, along with almost it's entire government, blown up, there is likly to be anarchy, looting, and a massive breakdown of social law and order. troops WILL be required just to keep the basic peace. Coupled with the fact that Philia is a long way across the ocean from Sevrun, aircraft carriers will be required to keep supply planes fuels across the sea. Militery ships are some of the largest around, and militery soldiers can be put to a great deal of use in rebuilding and aid distribution tasks. Link to comment
Niederoestereich
Troops may be used to keep the peace yes, im assuming since its titled Grand Fleet, it would contain heavy cruisers and such. What help would they have in helping keep peace? Bombard the shoreline; launch a few missiles in to quell disturbances. The rioters are on land, no in the ocean. Sevrun has claimed that their navy remains intact and is enforcing a blockade therefore there would be little threat from the sea. I think it?s a bit of overkill sending an entire fleet in to enforce humanitarian relief  Why have aircraft carriers in the area at all, how are they going to re-fuel c130s or any decent sized cargo aircraft. I?m sure there is airfields intact within the nation that could be used perhaps seize and protect them if there are fears of injuries to relief staff. If distance is an issue, why not re-fueling aircraft or launch from closer airfields. I am also convinced that a few skilled civil engineers would have more success at preparing adequate facilities, then a few hundred lowly sailors.  Link to comment

Senator Gaius
To reply to Kant, 'Grand Fleet' is a Karthene term used to denote a naval formation of more that 20 ships. The 4th Grand Fleet is a civilian merchant fleet which often coordinates with our military. Yes, there will be some military vessels attached, but we resent Kant's insinuation that we have an ulterior motive. Link to comment

((It was already gone when I finally remembered it, so now I'm having fun RPing its fall)) Â Â More news from Sevrun. Â Admiral Folshe has issued a statement from his flagship, the super-carrier His Divine Wrath. The summary of this statement is that he will allow Europan shipping through the blockade if inspections are allowed. Basic supplies will be allowed through after such quick inspections, but he has no intention of allowing heavily armed personel or weaponry to reach the shores. Â The military situation on the land has decayed rapidly, however. Contact has been re-established with Maleson Air Base, which along with Palen is the last bastion of safety and security in the rapidly collapsing area. They are willing to open some of their runways to foreign aircraft. Â Looting is running rampant throughout the southwestern portion of the region, and by all accounts the military in that area has begun more and more extreme methods of quelling the unrest. Gunfire is almost constant in the area. Â Word from some of the surviving military command is that at least two missile silos are still unaccounted for. Contact has been lost and with the current situation there is no way to effectively deploy to their remote locations in the mountain ranges. Orioni
OOC: Sounds like a great RP! I have some ideas already. OOC @ Sevrun: Did you revive your nation yet? If not, I'll explain you how to do it.  * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *  IC: FROM: Orioni TO: Everyone  SUNDAY, 11:45  Due to the distance to Sevrun, no-one in Orioni noticed the shock. However, meteorologists in Corona Borealis received urgent messages coming from Free-Ekainak, warning all northern nations that there could be a tsunami coming their way.   SUNDAY, 12:00  Images from meteorological satelites have shown a massive plume of smoke above the northern part of Sevrun. Through the clouds, scientist could see what looked like to be a great bay of some kind. But where was Gripps, the capital of Sevrun? Was there something wrong with this image?   SUNDAY, 12:10  About five minutes ago, we received this message from Sevrun: Accident in research lab- STOP Gripps and large surrounding area destroyed- STOP Government in pieces- STOP Military fracturing- STOP Weapons caches unacounted for- STOP Queen Maria and advisors presumed dead- STOP  SUNDAY, 12:40  The Orioni Central Council is in emergency meeting. All Council members are present, and the Empress herself is presiding the meeting. We believe they are planning a course of action.  SUNDAY, 13:00  This afternoon, the ONA (Orioni News Agency) received a message from the Empress, which was broadcasted live on the one o'clock news. "Citizens of Orioni. It is with great pain in my heart that I have to bring you the following, horrible news. This morning, a grave and terrible thing happend to our northern friends of Sevrun. For reasons not yet clear, there has been a massive explosion in their capital city Gripps. Numbers are not yet available but my advisors tell me millions may have died.  I would like to express my deepest condolences with the citizens of Sevrun, and you that you, make countrymen and -women, have a heart for Sevrunians as well. Although we must respect that many have lost their lives and need time to mourn, this may not be the time to stand still.  With the aid of the Council, a plan has been put together to get first aid to the area as soon as possible. If you as a citizen want to help, you can donate money to the account shown after this message. I would like to advise that no-one travel to Sevrun. The Councillor of Foreign Affairs agrees with me on this.  Let's all have some sympathy for our friends in the north, and help them as good as we can.  Let's show that Orioni cares about the rest of Europa.  Let's show we have a heart. " SUNDAY, 13:30 FROM: Orioni TO: Argenland, Great Kings  As allies of the CPA, we need to use your roads to get to Sevrun via Ide Jima. If you have any objections, please tell us.  FROM: Orioni TO: Ide Jima  In light of recent events in Sevrun, we kindly request your permission to use your infrastructire. We would like to cross your bridge near Moratau to get aid to the affected area. Please know that this is not a military transport.  SUNDAY, 14:00  Right after the message from the Empress, military and humaintarian organisation in Orioni came into action. After a few hours, a massive amount of money had already been gathered. With it, food and supplies could be bought, and large orders were placed in the southern agricultural colonies Andro and Meda.  Along the central railwaysystem which connected Orionopolis with Nord- and Zuidhaven, the large depots were opened. Supplies that were needed were gathered and put on trains to the Nordhaven. Following the Orionoco, long trains carried goods towards the north.   MONDAY, 9:00  All goods that already arrived in Nordhaven had been gathered in large assembly points in the harbor. Goods were loaded on ships and trucks. The ships would leave as soon as they where ready. The trucks could already head towards Sevrun by early afternoon. They will cross the border with Argenland and Great Kings, and use the Canal-bridge of Ide Jima to get to the north.   MONDAY, 12:00  FROM: Orioni TO: (what is left of) Sevrunian Governmant  If it was no nuclear blast, is it harmful or infectious of any kind? We need to know about this because it is very likely our nationals will be entering the affected area within due time. Please respond as soon a possible. Link to comment

Supplies have begun to arrive at Maleson Air Base, and are being distributed in and around Palen. Currently, the rest of the area has been deemed too unstable to attempt to send aid to directly. An air drop plan for distribution is being considered.  There is no new information on the cause of the blast. It would seem that all traces of whatever research was going on was destroyed, with no off site back ups known. Phil VII
The Beta sub-sect of the Philian Northern fleet is currently approaching the Bay where Gripps used to be, with the intention of setting up a temporary harbour on the small strip of land remaining between North and South Sevrun. We request permission to do so.  this small sub-fleet consists of several small ships headed by a destroyer. We are carrying limited supplies, but our intention is to attempt to move into the South of Sevrun to try and restore order in the area. the current reports from south Sevrun suggest rampent looting, gangs attacking and pillaging at will, and a total breakdown of law and order.  The temporery harbour will also act as both an airport and sea poert for the acceptance of international aid into the area, if the Sevrun Authorities agree. The only Sevrun area currently with any semblance of order, is the extreme Northern city of Palan, which currently would be hard pressed to cope with the massive amount of aid the nation looks set to require, and also little ability to distribute this aid to the shattered south of the nation which this temporary Port woudl allow.  We submit our request onto the hands of the Sevrun Authorities. Link to comment
