I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. Tagmatium was kicked out of the UN, again for reasons best forgotten, and i haven't looked back. Apart from that I've made a second nation to act as my representative in the UN. It means that my main nation is unsullied by the really pointless proposals that often get voted in. The "Global Library" is an example of these.

You could join the regional defenceforce with your new UN nation. Read about it in the Military Department. It gives a whole new dimension to playing NationStates.
