Basic History of Zagireth

Zagireth, the biggest and oldest city of the zone, is settled on a fluvial delta. Founded by fleeing refugees from a dictatorship in their ancestral home, they established relations with the nomadic tribes that used the river as a seasonal pit stop. The name “Zagireth” comes from the native's name for the river itself, in fact.

Due to the relatively sparse population on the zone and the neighboring unstable borders, the lands surrounding Zagireth soon serve as a new home to several other people looking for a second chance. Zagireth established strong interdependable relations with them, thanks to the similar history and mutual needs. In time, they united into a confederation of city-states to bolster their relations with foreign powers.

Zagireth acts as the official capital of the country. And even though all other cities and lands have a notable degree of independency, they act as one in foreign affairs. They also keep a common legal framework and some basic services (like intercity public transport infrastructure) are paid from a shared tax across the Confederation. There was a single try to further the unification of the City-States of the Confederation, but it was proven too difficult, since the cities were founded by a range of cultures and backgrounds. They might need to cooperate and act to unite, but they are not identified themselves as part of a whole.

OFF RP: It's difficult to go deeper, as I have little idea about different RP cultures in Eurth, and I don't know where I'm located, or who will be my neighbors and their history. Any pointers in that direction would be highly appreciated.
