[Map application] Free land of Nuevalta

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Nation on Eurth: Nuevalta

National Flag: The flag

Capital Name: Aurora-Nova

Capital Location: A port-city with good natural assets, like the Massilla bay.

Starter Stats: 1

Culture: Nuevalta's culture is a blend of artistic, technological, and social innovation. It seeks to be a haven for creative minds, promoting a poetic and heroic mindset. Cultural activities are integral, with a focus on avant-garde arts, literature, and public participation. Former Lysian cultures and others from immigration are also added into the melting-pot.

Climate & Geography: The island of Nuevalta features diverse landscapes, including forests, mountains, and fertile plains. It has a temperate climate with significant seasonal variations, supporting rich biodiversity.

History: Originally a Lysian colony, Nuevalta declared its independence in 2024, driven by visionary ideals of innovation and human progress. The indigenous people were largely assimilated or ignored under the previous regime.

Front Desk: ARP Independence Day

Vision Statement: The Free Land of Nuevalta

Desired Location: The island of Nuevalta is ideally located near strategic trade routes, possibly in a temperate region with access to fertile land and natural resources.

Other Critical Information: Nuevalta emphasizes innovation and sustainability, aiming to create a society based on creativity, technological advancement, and environmental stewardship. It strives to become a beacon of progress and a hub for intellectual and artistic pursuits. As so it mainly gains population through ideological immigration, and needs to be at least a little self-sufficient. Moreover, it may conquer later via RP some other Lysian-labelled possessions nearby.

Congratulations on passing the academy! Now let's get you on the map.

Two small things first though. Your vision statement hyperlink doesn't go to your VS but it just redirects back to this map application - though I was able to find your VS on your profile so not too big of a deal. Also you put just "1" on your starter stats. Did you mean 1 point for each land area/population/economy? Or just 1 point in one stat that you forgot to specify? On your VS you put 0/4/0 (all 4 points in economy) however you were quite vague on things such as the indigenous/civilian population.

Your outlined culture, climate, geography, and history does open you up to quite a few possible locations across Eurth. Below I have proposed 4 locations for Nuevalta, it is up to you to choose one (or none) of the proposals. Once you've chosen I will alert any of your potential neighbours who will then have 5 days to voice their concerns or provide consent.

1. Western Europa
419OpO2.png
A decently sized island approximately 9,700km^2 in size near Lysia and located strategically near the mouth of the Raga Sea, your island nation would have a Mediterranean climate. Your country would've been the Corsica to Lysia's France, originally within the sphere of influence of Suverina before being annexed Lysia. It wouldn't be unrealistic for the local Suverina dialect (a dialect of Romanian) to eventually die out and be replaced with Lysian if you'd prefer to stick to just purely French. Your country would also be close to the mainland and a few other islands further into the sea/gulf.

2. Southern Argis
9OMH8zK.png
A Sardinia-shaped island with just over half the area (15,700km^2), your country would be close to Galahinda (another Lysian ex-colony) and Seylos (a very liberal and free democracy). Your climate would be mediterranean along the western coast, and wetter/more temperate along your eastern coast. There are fewer opportunities for expansions but there are quite a few islands available for conques throughout the northern Adlantic Ocean. You would not be particularly near any chokeholds, but you'd be the gateway for ocean trade from the south towards the Dolch See.

3. Western Alharu
HbaBcCZ.png
With a combined area of around 11,550km^2, you'd be at the neck of the Hei Sea and close to Florentia (another ex-Lysian colony). Your climate would be similar to that of the American great plains, although a lot wetter thanks to being a series of islands.

4. Southern Aurelia
hoYGEQy.png
One of two islands, you would be near southern Aurelia within the Adisi Ocean with a temperate climate. You'd be close to a couple ex-colonies of Lysia (Zaxar, Cote de Fourrure) and quite a few active members (Anatea, Schennland, Ionio, etcetera).

Good evening.
I'm sorry for the mess, I put 1 refering to the superficy but I made an error while calculating the points, so superficy point is in fact 0.

I think I will go for the 4th option and the eastern island (the one underligned).

Have a nice day.

Hello hello and still congrats for having passed the Academy, Nuevalta! :D

I'm sorry to interrupt but I feel the need to put my two cents on the 4th option that, unfortunately, clashes with some interests that me and some players have in the region and in developing future tensions in the area :)
Unfortunately I'm sorry for my intervention, but I have to oppose to the 4th option for the following reasons:

Reason 1
The Island is part of an area that me, @Gallambria and @Tagmatium Rules decided to expand in the near future. The rp is centered on a cold war between Anatea, Gallambria and, possibly, Tagmatium, about the region that could become strategic in the foresee future. As such Anatea and Gallambria will start a campaign in the area, trying to influence and bring under their spheres of influences the islands nations in Adisi, more precisely the following ones:

spacer.png

This Expansion RP is pretty important for the three of us since it will actually create a PvP tension area for the following powers involved and the future rps. In case here the link and screens about the rp being discussed in the discord last month:

The map i made right now is a finalized version with some differences from the discussed version, since i've been thinking to this rp carefully and trying to give everyone what they are interested in the region for this game of powers.

Reason 2

As much as Nuevalta absolutely deserves to expand as any other player in the server, this clashes directly with the plans me and others have for the region. In case this point would have been ignored it would end in two ways:

a. Nuevalta gets the island, expands and then blocks me to project influence over the area.

b. Nuevalta gets the island, I expand in the region, but they can't expand anymore and I block them.

Either way, it's bad for both. If Nuevalta would just stay on the southern island and then not expand, honestly I'd accept that, but I'd feel extremely bad in being the one cropping the possibility to expand to another player.

Could I give up the claims in the region and avoid this, so to let Nuevalta be there? Unfortunately no. Not for pettiness, but because since I'm here from 2020, I never expanded until 2022 with the Anatea-Azuro War, and even then I did it by expanding after years of being here and showing that I'm an involved player like everyone here :) and one RP plan I have for Anatea is to make it a regional power in the next future. Plus I can't expand South or West since I have my neighbors there, and I don't want to annex all the Virsisi nations South of me becaue I don't want to take advantage of the NPCs or have the NPCs be seen only as a mean to expand or being puppeted (for me those NPCs are an important piece for the backstory of my nation, and in the future I want to roleplay with them so to see what could happen in the future in the region.)

Despite my refusal (I'm really sorry Nuevalta :( ), I'd like to give some help and offer more inputs and options that I was considering while I was writing this response :)

Such as:

spacer.pngOPTION A

One of the two islands in Alharu. They are not near any existing Lysian colony
unfortunately, and they are set in a tropical region, but the islands there give plenty of room to expand and also Nuevalta would be next to Argis, and so close enough to other players. (or, even if Nuevalta would end up alone (Highly impossible), they could attract new players in the region like happened to me when I decided to be in Aurelia and I was completely alone. Now I have a lot of cool neighbors to rp with :) ). Plus the area would be a strategic sea trade route, since those islands would link Argis, Alharu and Aurelia tradings (aka, lots of money incoming >:) )

spacer.png

OPTION B

One of the many islands between Marenesia and Europa. Despite they have temperate islands, unfortunately lacks Lysian members in the region. Despite that, there are active players like Kori-Chi and Apuni, and a bit over there is Orioni that is waaay more active than a lot of us :)

OPTION C

This option lacks Lysian presence and temperate islands, BUT it's a great stage for future rps, since you could actually partecipate in the splitting of the Adisi and maybe from the southern island you can try and get the other islands not claimed by me, Tagmatium and Gallambria :) and since your nation is always trying to be innovative, it could try to mediate or ease the tensions in the region, so to give some chances to diplomatic RPs :)

I know Nuevalta wanted to go with 0 points for their territory, but this could be translated, for some big islands, in the fact that maybe they claim a portion of it and in the future they expand to get the entirety of it and then the other next to them :)
I hope my input could give some help to Nuevalta in trying to find a nice place for them to settle :)

With Anatea's decline you will need to reconsider your option - be it choosing from proposals 1, 2, or 3, or perhaps taking one of Anatea's proposals (although I will need to double check them if you decide on one of them).

First of all, I'd like to congratulate @Nuevalta for graduating the Academy and earning their spot on the map. I'd also like to make it clear that I'm entirely on board with Nuevalta's latest choice to join Florentia and I in the Cashari region, however I do have a couple considerations I'd like to discuss, mostly regarding history.

Originally, I'd planned for the group of islands now claimed by Nuevalta to be the first landing point for Eirran settlers who would eventually colonize much of northern Cashari Island, including Aurora. This shouldn't be much of a problem, though; the Eirrans could have reasonably avoided the islands given an existing Lysian presence there and instead land directly on the northern Cashari mainland.

Secondly, though is my more consequential concern: I just don't find it plausible that Lysia could have maintained a colony on the other side of the glube all the way up until 2024. The closest I can think of to a situation like this in Eurth would be Orioni's colonies in Thalassa or the former Mitōnese colony of Kōri-Chi. Eurth is generally much more "regionalized" than Eurth, a factor which only intensifies the further back in history you go. That's also why truly glubal empires just don't exist in Eurth.

This also isn't to say that a Lysian colony in Cashar isn't possible — Florentia exists, lol — but that I can't see a colony lasting until today, especially one which has a historically aggressive Lysian neighbor to the South which saw itself as the legitimate successor to the Lysian Empire. I think it would make more sense if Nuevalta maintains its Lysian culture, but that the colony would eventually be won by a more influential power in the region, such as Iverica or Florentia, or even Gaellicia or Garindina, if they're able to maintain some vestige of colonial influence all the way into 2024 (but that's sort of going back to the Lysia problem). This does present a potential flashpoint in tensions, though, depending on Nuevalta's independence is achieved. If a cordial split is achieved by referendum, I could see a fairly tame geopolitical situation, but if the split is more controversial or violent, I could maybe see Nuevalta's former colonizer shunning nations who cozy-up to the newly independent Nuevalta. This could lead to some interesting RP, but that all depends on if that's something that interests you.

Of course, I'd like to hear some other opinions or perspectives on this. I'm not sure I'm not just rambling on about irrelevant tangents here. Whatever happens, it likely won't affect me significantly — just wanted to lay down my thoughts and hopefully introduce a viable discussion. I'm looking forward to RPing with you in the future and towards some more fun to be had in the Cashari region.

Lastly, don't worry about the capital name. I think the similarity is justifiable, and can be chalked up to a common name for the northern Cashari region used in the past. I think it would make sense for the same name to be applied more than once. Besides, Aurora is a pretty ubiquitous place name anyways, it was bound to happen to me eventually.

I hope all of y'all are having a wonderful day. Chao!

Congratulations to Nuevalta for passing the academy and choosing the stable, prosperous and secure region of Western Alharu (insert excessively insisting wink).

I must say that the concern of Aurora is actually quite legitimate. After all, Florentia wouldn't have had much trouble taking the island soon after the exile.

Regarding the independance, I know the perfect opportunity(ies).

The easiest one would be the first Cashari war of independance. Basicly, a massive slave revolt occurred in 2019. The natives organised and proclaimed the Free Cashari Federation. The outdated, disorganised, untrained, incompetent Florentian armed forces couldn't suppress it, so an armistice was signed between the two belligerents mid 2020.

You could have gained independance during the second war of independance. The war started again in january 2022 to end in july 2022, ending in a complete defeat of the Federation.

In both cases, almost all Florentian forces would have been sent to the front, which, combined with the outdated Florentian navy, would have definitly prevented Florentia to take back the island. The first war is simply easier because it was more chaotic.

After the situation is settled, Florentia would probably not recognise Nuevalta until the new regime in august 2023. Florentia being unable to conduct a naval invasion of Nuevalta, I suppose that they would rather try to bring it back to its sphere of influence via diplomacy.

@Nuevalta what do you think to these terms?

Florentia could substitute Lysia in your history - I don't think Lysia holds any particularly significance that another French-speaking country couldn't provide - and Florentia is a more 'noble' target to fight an armed resistance against (due to being a pariah state) that means you'll probably find supporters across to the glube willing to recognise your nation post-independence.

I agree with them, however I like the suggestion of Per-Aten to have a company rather than a country as overlord: like a @Florentia related one but based in Lydia. I will do a bit of RP-edit latter once all is decided.

I think I'm missing some context. Do you mean you want a @Neswetej Per Aten company as your (ex)colonial overlord?

Posted

No, that’s just because he found the idea first, here is a copy of his message :

«Instead of a Royal Colony, maybe it was a Company Colony, so @Florentiahad no De Jeure authority, and the company hired Iverican protection from Florentian agression?

So it was just too expensive to force them out, so they just kinda gave up on retaining them »

F: « Though I must say I like the idea of a company colony. Plus, Nuevalta seems to agree.

Furthermore, it the company is ruled by Lysians, it could explain why most of the population is made of Lysians, whatever the power which backed them. »

P-A : « And the company could retain ownership in Lysia So there could be further Lysian Immagration, possibly even Florentinian immigrants too. »

That makes a lot more sense lol.

Well, considering Florentia and Aurora are the ones who initially offered the ideas in the first place I find it hard to imagine they won't provide consent to this arrangement. Nevertheless both parties (@Florentia and @Aurora) will be given 5 days (until the 4th of August) to provide consent, object, or provide any more conditions they have for Nuevalta being in that spot on the map.
