Text of the speech made by Eteokles Antoniatos, Permanent Representative of the Greater Holy Empire of the Aromans to the General Assembly of the Assembled Nations on the 3rd of May, 1962. The aim of the speech was to get the headquarters of the newly created Assembled Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation placed in Europatorion, one of the capitals of the Greater Holy Empire and its largest city.

Β

β€œYour excellencies,

I am here to put forward the candidacy of Europatorion for the location of the Assembled Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

It is believed by the Holy Emperor, Leon III, and the People and Senates of Aromania, that Europatorion represents the best and most fitting place for the location of that organisation of this august body.

Europatorion is the largest city of one of the most populous nations on Eurth. Almost all languages – from every corner of the wurld – can be heard on its streets. Not just the major ones, either, although you will hear Lysian, Anglish and Oharic if you walk down any major street. No, you will also hear Iveric, Dolch and more besides. It is one of the few truly glubal cities on Eurth and long one of the biggest trade hubs in the wurld. This means that the stereotype that Aromania looks down on all other cultures as β€œbarbarians” is has little basis in fact in the modern wurld. We Aromans welcome all other peoples and cultures with open arms.

Education has always been a key part of Aroman life. Some of the oldest educational establishments on Eurth exist within my nation's borders. But this is not some nationalistic attempt at a boast or a brag. No, it shows how long the Aromans have held education dearly to our hearts. We would use this ancient love of learning to try to kindle the same in the hearts of all the other nations of the wurld and use our connections to other nations to spread this across the Eurth. As part of that, literacy programmes will be championed across Eurth. It is hoped that all of these Assembled Nations will come together to fund and support these programmes, as well as any other that aims to improve education across the glube. Greater knowledge will, in turn, foster greater understanding and this will be the building blocks of long-lasting peace between nations. But it will also aid technological development and even help with the basics such as clean water and sanitation, as it will mean that there would be more people with the knowledge and the skills to undertake these projects anywhere on Eurth. Measures should also be in place for this knowledge to spread freely and to preserve the independence of the press, something that Aromania has long cherished.

Aromania has also long been one of the leading nations within the scientific field. In 1830, the famous Dryamos Slope Trials took place, which saw a competition that was foundational for the railways that now cross every country and almost every continent on Eurth. This wasn't done by just Aromans but teams from Gaellicia and even from Ionio and the United Republic of Aurelia, both nations of the New Wurld. It was in 1905, in southern Aromania, outside the city of Klimatos that Ioannes Glauketes made the first heavier-than-air flight in euman history. This is not just a crowning achievement for one man, or one nation, but the whole of eumanity. This action brought us closer together as a species, as a wurld. It was watched by Andallans as well as Aromans, and from there powered flight took off across the rest of the wurld. These examples show that my nation has a history of welcoming scientific advancement from across the glube and plays an active role in disseminating it beyond its own borders. It is hoped that we can use this as a basis to build future scientific cooperation between the nations of Eurth, working within the framework of the Assembled Nations itself and for the betterment of all of the peoples of our wurld.

But we would not just concern ourselves with technology and its advancement, as the natural sciences are a major concern for all nations as well. Just as our ancestors looked to the wurld around them and, even the stars above them, saw wonders, so must we as well. If Europatorion becomes the headquarters of ANESCO, then it will be well-placed to monitor and encourage new advancements and observations within many of these fields as well. It could be stated by some that Aromania itself is not well-placed to make discoveries of its own, as it is located within the Occident, but it is those same links that bring groups from across Eurth to Europatorion that mean that my nation is at the forefront in many of the scientific fields. This, combined with access to some of the top universities on Eurth, means that an ANESCO based in Europatorion will be at this same forefront and potentially be able to guide initiatives and plans that will help spread any knowledge across all of Eurth. Sharing knowledge like this will also build understanding between peoples and, hopefully, respect despite any differences. This will go a long way towards the aim of these Assembled Nations to build bridges of peace between all of the varied peoples of Eurth.

And the people of Eurth are varied. There are many different cultures, even within one nation. Even a few decades ago, to stand before such a group as I am standing before now would have caused a level of surprise. Few people had been outside of their home city or village and most had never seen someone from a neighbouring nation, let alone someone from a continent on the other side of the wurld. Whilst we must build bridges between nations, we cannot then let individual cultural nuances be erased for the sake of trying to remove differences that might get in the way of understanding. Such a statement coming from an Aroman might cause a raised eyebrow or two amongst those who have little understanding of my ancient nation, but even when the Aroman Empire ruled much of the Occident and Amutia, it was understood that cultural differences were to be preserved and even celebrated. And this is how ANESCO should be utilised, too – to protect, to preserve and to celebrate all of the cultural diversity that Eurth has. This might be in the form of different or minority languages, ancient sites, religious buildings and more. All of these differences add to the rich mosaic that is life on Eurth and must be preserved and maintained. This would be something that can be supported by my nation, as well as supported by all nations on Eurth. Preserving ancient culture of all types is definitely a key aim of the Greater Holy Empire, as it is heir to two of the oldest civilisations in Europa. We have our own proposals that would be enacted, such as compiling a list of heritage sites that are of wurld importance, but this is to be discussed at a later date.

These reasons are why Europatorion ought to be considered for the headquarters of ANESCO. Placing it in that great city would mean that it sits at the beating cultural heart of Eurth, somewhere education is lauded, the natural wurld treasured and where technological knowledge and advancements are made and shared readily.

Thank you, your excellencies. I, his Aroman Majesty and the People and Senates of Arome, await your decision.”

General Assembly of the Assembled Nations, Anbrekport, Iwenland

Esteemed colleagues and representatives of the Assembled Nations,

I, Asrat Abeselome ina Negasso, speaking on behalf of the Orioni Empire, rise today to voice our strong support for the candidacy of Europatorion as the headquarters of the Assembled Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ANESCO).

The eloquent speech delivered by His Excellency, Eteokles Antoniatos, the Permanent Representative of the Greater Holy Empire of the Aromans, has thoroughly impressed upon us the merits of Europatorion as the ideal location for this crucial institution. Orioni recognises and applauds the rich history, cultural diversity, and commitment to education and scientific advancement that @Tagmatium Rules brings to the table.

We are particularly moved by the Tagmatine vision of ANESCO as a well for global understanding, cooperation, and peace. Their emphasis on preserving and celebrating cultural diversity while fostering educational and scientific progress aligns closely with the Orinese values and aspirations for this organisation. Orioni, as a nation with a similarly rich history of promoting education across our archipelago, shares these ideals. We see ANESCO as an opportunity to extend such values on a global scale.

Europatorion's position as a truly global city, where myriad languages and cultures converge, makes it an exemplary choice for an organisation dedicated to international cooperation in education, science, and culture. The city's longstanding tradition of welcoming diverse peoples and ideas will undoubtedly contribute to ANESCO's mission of building bridges between nations and fostering mutual understanding.

Furthermore, we are impressed by the Tagmatine commitment to advancing literacy, scientific research, and cultural preservation on a global scale. Their proposed initiatives, such as the compilation of a list of wurld heritage sites, demonstrate a forward-thinking approach that will benefit all nations represented here today. This visionary proposal has proven its worth over time. We can envision how, in the coming decades, this list will not only preserve our shared heritage but also foster cultural tourism, promote international understanding, and provide a framework for collaborative conservation efforts among nations. The foresight shown in this initiative underscores why Tagmatium's bid for ANESCO's headquarters is so compelling.

Our government believes that placing ANESCO's headquarters in Europatorion will provide the organisation with a solid foundation from which to pursue its noble goals. The city's refined academic traditions, coupled with its historic tradition of scientific innovation and cultural exchange, make it an ideal location for the kind of glubal initiatives that ANESCO aims to spearhead.

In conclusion, Orioni wholeheartedly endorses Tagmatium's bid to host the ANESCO headquarters in Europatorion. We are confident that this choice will serve the best interests of the organisation and, by extension, all member nations of these Assembled Nations.

Thank you for your attention, esteemed colleagues. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration within ANESCO, regardless of the final decision on its location.

OOC. Voicing my public support for Tag as one and only candidate. Somewhat archaic language, since this is set in the 1960s.

General Assembly of the Assembled Nations, Anbrekport, Iwenland
Ambassador Kolaus YΓ€ger, Representative of the Kingdom of Stedoria

β€œHonourable members and representatives of the Assembled Nations, in the name of His most Royal, Honourable, and Enlightened Majesty Telvan X, King of the Stedorians, Gaduteans, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Stedorian Army, Navy, and Air Force, the Kingdom of Stedoria strongly supports the city ofΒ Europatorion's candidacy as headquarters of the Assembled Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ANESCO).

The most honourable Permanent Representative of the Greater Holy Empire of the Aromans has presented excellent and undoubtedly convincing points for Europatorion's candidacy, not only because of the city's significant role within Tagmatium's history and economy itself, but also due to Tagmatium's undoubtedly influential role in the glubal community, both in fostering glubal economic development and glubal peace. Our government, as we hope are many others, also appreciates the most honourable Permanent Representative's emphasis on Europatorion's cultural diversity, which hopefully may assuage concerns regarding the city's cultural status.

The Kingdom of Stedoria equally supports the future proposals to establish a list of glubal cultural heritage sites, alongside promotion of historical cultural institutions such as ancient sites and religious buildings of significance. It is our firm belief that the establishment of the ANESCO headquarters in Europatorion will have only positive outcomes for the glubal community as a whole, not only in developing culture, science, and education, but also in fostering closer international co-operation and friendship.

We look forward to the future activities of ANESCO, along with the glubal community's participation in this most esteemed organisation.”

Iwenland, Anbrekport | General Assembly of the Assembled Nations

Esma MarjanoviΔ‡ straightened her blazer as she listened to the Stedorian representative speak only a few meters away from her. Β All eyes would be on her in a few moments, and the forty-four-year-old needed to make sure that eyes would be listening to her words and not a crooked article of clothing. Β She was the first woman appointed to the position of Permanent Representative to the Assembled Nations in Poja and, more importantly, the first woman to hold a Cabinet-level position in Pojački history. Β She was the second representative since President Petar JovanoviΔ‡ took office in 1956, her predecessor lasting four years before he decided a career in retirement was most suited for his pace of life. Β Esma happened to be personally recommended by her predecessor, and her name had shot to the top of an extraordinarily short list. Β Now, two years into her term thus far, she hadn't put much of a mark on Poja's international presence, not that there was much of a mark to make. Β The Pojački philosophy of non-interventionism meant that no matter what, Poja would stand by the side in neutrality. Β It had done so during the five-year Argic War (1949 - 1954), much to the criticisms of its fellow Argic neighbors, boosting its defensive military spending and little else.

Now, so many years later, the Assembled Nations was on the cusp of establishing a remarkable international organization that the Konfederacija Poja could get behind not only willingly but happily.  That the Aromans were making a play at headquartering this new organization was all the more amenable to the Pojački government.  Relations between the two nations had been established in 1906, almost six decades prior, and they'd been positive and fruitful ever since.  It thusly stood to reason that if the Aromans were headquartering this new organization, Poja would have little trouble being involved in it.  Little debate had occurred within the circles of the Cabinet ahead of this session, nor was there the expectation that any should.  It appeared as well that the Orinese and the Stedorians were on the same page, she was soon to join them.

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β "My esteemed colleagues of this Assembled Nations," she began when the floor had been yielded to her. Β "The objectives of ANESCO could not be more aligned with the principles of the Konfederacija Poja where we believe no amount of money spent on education and preserving the freedom and liberties of a democratic peoples is money wasted.

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β "This planet is home to cultures ancient and modern and the preservation of those cultures, of our history, of our development as a species from cavemen to that which we are today to what we will be tomorrow is an imperative of all the just and honorable nations of this wurld. Β ANESCO thus must be supported by all the nations of the wurld to ensure its success. Β Ladies and gentlemen, this very organization will be the embodiment of the phrase, 'You get out what you put in' and the Konfederacija Poja is 'all in.' Β

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β "It is thusly my honor to present, on behalf of the people of the Konfederacija Poja, my vote in favor of Europatorion being the headquarters for ANESCO and pledge our full participation and cooperation in its mission."

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β She clicked off her microphone and leaned back, yielding the floor further. Β The Konfederacija Poja would allocate a small parcel of its government budget to ANESCO in hopes that its services could help the nation present its own culture and history.

General Assembly of the Assembled Nations, Anbrekport, Iwenland

Alberto Conto was listening to all the speeches so far and knew that after Poja it was his turn to express Ionio's opinion on this candature. He had read and reread several times the candidacy of Greater Holy Empire of the Aromans to host ANESCO and had not found any smears and even the incumbent government had approved this proposal deeming it fair because of the historical weight Aromans have in the history of the wurld. After the Poja delegate's speech was over it was his turn and so he headed to the podium to speak

" My esteemed colleagues of this Assembled Nations. We Ionians have studied in mini details the candidacy of Greater Holy Empire of the Aromans to opsitate ANESCO and after a debate in the end we feel that we support this candidacy. We believe that the Aromans have played a key role in the history of the wurld as well as creating technologies that today are the basis of modern techonologies that have been developed or are being developed.

Our government believes that ANESCO is critical in that it promotes peace through scientific, educational collaboration and social economic development.

We also believe that ANESCO must immediately play a key role in the protection of the monuments and works of art that man has created but also the protection of the landscapes that nature has created, and that is why we are willing to help ANESCO in making a list of cultural and natural heritage sites.

We look forward to the commissioning of ANESCO and hope that through this agency, peace and glubal collaboration is promoted "

After he finishes his speech Alberto Conto I leave the podium and return to his seat to observe the reaction of the other delegates
