Welcome to the Pojački Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministarstvo Vanjskih Poslova), the Konfederacija Poja's line to the outside wurld. This thread will be a mix of both IC and OOC for the purposes of corralling general communication between Poja and the nations of Eurth as well as a repository of data concerning relations between said nations and the Konfederacija Poja.

History
First and foremost, let me extend a warm and cordial hand of diplomacy to all nations of Eurth and give you some background on foreign relations with the Konfederacija Poja. When the nation was founded in September 1900, it embarked upon a semi-isolationist policy for a good part of the 20th century. What does this mean? What it means is that Poja took a stance of neutrality with regards to glubal conflicts, trade disputes, international tension, and so on and so forth. The Konfederacija Poja was welcoming to normalized diplomatic relations to any country that wished to embark upon so but would stop short of getting into any binding pacts or agreements that could otherwise force the Konfederacija Poja to "choose sides" in a conflict. It also did not inherently "seek out" normalized, diplomatic relations with nations too far away from the country.

Beginning in the 1970s, following the end of the Pojački Emergency (1960 - 1976), the Konfederacija Poja began to move towards a more active and less passive approach to normalized, diplomatic relations. In the 1980s and the 1990s, the Konfederacija Poja actively courted normalized relations with nations it wouldn't have prior to this time and it began to seek further trade and economic access throughout the wurld. Beginning in the mid to late 2000s and certainly within the 2010s, a demographic shift within the Konfederacija Poja gradually pushed the nation out of its semi-isolationist and neutrality policies. The culmination of this was the election of leaders both on a national and a regional level who favored more of a glubal rather than regional presence for the Konfederacija Poja. As a result, the Konfederacija Poja joined TRIDENT and the New Pearl Road in 2023, something that would have been unheard of at the founding of the nation and certainly up into the 1970s.

One aspect of all of this is the topic of Pojački-Volsci relations. I've had it that Volsci was the major and primary trading partner and supporter, if just because they're a large NPC that offers flexibility and freedom to do a lot of smaller things that might take a long time to iron out with individual members. After the Chernarussian War (1968 - 1974) and the end of the Pojački Emergency, the Konfederacija Poja begins to reduce its dependence on Volsci, which is part of this "opening" - so to speak - beginning in the 1980s. You might consider the phases of Pojački history as such: Early Poja (1900 - 1940), Established Poja (1940 - 1980), Modern Poja (1980 - 2021), Current Poja (2021 - Present).

Current State of Poja (2023)
The current leader of the Konfederacija Poja is Andrej Petrović, elected in 2021 to a five-year term. He is from the right-wing United Poja party. Obren Vasiljević is the Vice President, also of the same party as they run on a combined ticket. United Poja has a legislative majority in the House of Magnates though on a regional level, they are either the largest minority or in a coalition government with the center-right Modern Poja party. The legislature is run by the head of government, Chancellor Jelena Jurić from United Poja.

As mentioned above, the Konfederacija Poja is beginning its entrance into TRIDENT as a Partner for Peace and it is joining the New Pearl Road for expanded, economic development. The country is at a state of peace and stable.

So what then do I ask of you? Please use this thread to conduct general diplomatic discussion between our two nations. Any situation, incident, event, et cetera that might require more than one or two posts, we should start a separate, dedicated thread. For those that do not though, consider this your general repository. That includes perhaps congratulating elected governments, announcing state visits (that won't require a thread), and so on and so forth.

OOC: Excellent, I do not see any problems with this and Poja was founded in 1900. It looks like you still have a good amount of WIP with some significant events happening between then and now so we can iron out the specifics of when relations were established at a future time. I would say our relations skew more neutral than friendly if just because you still have a socialist economy (even if it's Scandinavian) but that wouldn't prevent us from doing business with one another. I'll mimic your visa requirements so we'll be on equal footing there. Your embassy would be in Rugi, I'm not going into "street level wurldbuilding" though. The Pojački ambassador to Mikochi will be Rahim Kurtovic.

The relations between Aromania and Poja are friendly, albeit towards the neutral end of such a spectrum of “friendliness”. The fact that Poja played a role in defeating Anglia – even if a supporting one – means that both the Holy Imperial Government and the Aromans themselves will view Poja in a positive light. Poja is also a member of TRIDENT's Partnership for Peace programme and this means that at least some of the aims and objectives of the two nations align, at least for now. Membership of this may also mean that our nations have more opportunities to work together to strengthen any such relationship.

For the moment, no. Yes, ideally our nations would cooperate more in the future but I'm happy to see where things go for now.

Everything up there is great I'm with you 1:1. Given you're also a Partner for Peace in TRIDENT, Poja would offer a standard visa-on-arrival relationship for your travelers with better-than-normal relations from our POV. Our representative will be Ambassador Anica Živanović.

I suppose it's rather standard, though it is highly recommended to know Lysian and to learn about the various different religious practices of the five Florentian religions (orthodoxy, demonist orthodoxy, esonian shinshi, cashari animism and iverican tocalicism) to avoid disrespectful actions. Atheist persons are forbidden to enter Florentian territory.

Presumably rather standard, it is advised to know either Anglish (probably more likely for Pojacki's to know), Lysian, or Tengrol; either one is fine.

Looks all good to me I think I'm amenable to all those things and if sponsorship into CDANA is required from existing members (I'd have to go back and look at the charter), perhaps Poja could be Rinava's sponsor to bring you into the organization since at glance you look like a "democratically aligned nation." Poja has visa-free for CDANA members so you would enjoy the same thing there and we'll match what you have here in reciprocity.

I was so hoping you'd fill in something and indeed I think "neutral but chilly" sums up our relations. With Per-Aten's latest actions against your supreme bad guy there that would seriously open up relations with Poja to a better level. I think up until that neutral would be the best we could achieve with bouts of tension based on the goings on of that fellow's cult in relation to terrorism. How about we peg 1917 for relations and yes visa requirement would be important, with neutral relations I couldn't go visa-free. As mentioned on Discord, Poja does not have any distrust over EOS nor really does it see a reason to campaign against EOS - remember Poja was OK with what happened in Velaheria - but obviously we're not going to assume that gives carte blanche for generic action vs. case-by-case actions. So really outside of that there's no hindrances and with these steps you've taken we can move into better relations for sure.

The above should explain EOS but in relation to the United Republic, there is something that the Pojacki government would find a bit concerning in that being how hard the UR campaigned against Orioni in the AN and then to go join the EOS. That makes us question the URA. I don't see that changing relations we would still be friendly and have no problems with economic cooperation but I think that would be the extent of it, we wouldn't entering into much military cooperation outside of the light trainer thread. Everything all good, we can give reciprocity to 90-day visa free.

Absolutely everything about this I am onboard with we've talked about it in Discord so that's great to finally get it here so we're not trying to remember everything. I think 2023 might be too early for relations believe it or not if just because we'd want to have seen a little more time go by from Florentia's changes to get to the point that we enter into normalized diplomatic relations but by now we'd be OK with it. Obviously the "socialist" part means a significant block on just how far we'd go, neutral would really be the peak if just because our rhetoric is hard to ignore. The atheist piece would cause on-paper troubles because nothing on a Pojacki passport would identify someone's religious beliefs and if someone were to travel to Florentia (visa required), and they were detained for the crime of being an atheist, that would be a major international incident (perhaps a fun roleplay in our future?) The other authoritarian aspects really pretty much limits where we can get to as a peak of relations: hostile no more now that slavery is truly abolished, neutral at best.

@Pecario

Obviously, we'd have a major issue with the drug trafficking aspect of Pecario but that wouldn't necessarily stop normalized diplomatic relations between our two nations. To the extent of where it would land between neutral and friendly would be TBD, probably square in the middle. Obviously, if we know the Pecarian government was actively facilitating the drug trafficking that would knock it down and if they were actively facilitating it into Poja that would lead to strained relations. I think 1907 works we can work with that from there and go forward.

Yes to it all I agree entirely this definitely sums up Pojacki-Advocatian relations. I don't see any reason for us not to have embassies. Of course, because of our relations, visa approval would be required and probably limited to a certain # per period (month, year, unsure) if just because there would be that underlying strain between the two nations, presumably that would go both ways.

The Konfederacija Poja is honored to have received your invitation in the matter of establishing a trade agreement. However, the Pojački government feels that this agreement would be counterproductive to already established agreements between Poja and nations within Argis via the Council of Democratically-Aligned Nations of Argis (CDANA), the Tricontinental Defence Treaty Organisation (TRIDENT), and our membership in the New Pearl Road. Perhaps it is that the Pojački government is not as concerned with the actions of the Entente of Oriental States in Velaheria at this time that gives us this stance.

When is the modern state of Poja founded? We could have interacted with its Predecessor States probably as early as the mid 16th century when various groups of Gotneskan Sailors started exploring the oceans. Not to include my now capital city which till 1718 was the Republic of Langlie.

When would diplomatic relations been established (earliest we can do is 1900)? Already answered!! 1902. But how would the Gotneskan Civil War affect this? It happened from 1979-1985.

What are the visa requirements and/or limitations your country puts on citizens of the Konfederacija Poja traveling to your nation? I would imagine for trips less than 45 days all that is needed is your passport. Trips more than 45 days will require a e-visa. For business purposes one must be sponsored and have required documentation.

Have friendly relations that started back in the time of Goutian Empire, has since become one of Gotneska’s more important diplomatic allies. Aside from our friendly neighbors of course!!

Poja was founded in 1900 so likely Gotneska would have had relations with some of the former kingdoms prior to 1900 but really just concerning myself here will the "Confederacy" years so we'll stick with 1902 since that would have probably taken some time to change over between the kingdoms and the new country. Memberships with CDANA & TRIDENT basically elevate Gotneska to a much higher tier of friendly relations with Poja, which we've definitely talked about offline over various time periods but never really finalized (until now). For the Gotneskan Civil War, Poja wouldn't have chosen sides during the conflict and likely just continued relations on afterwards with recognition of the new government.

Greetings Honourable Minister Cvjetko,

I extend hope that this letter finds you in good health. And as intent to extend friendly relations between our two nations. Our positions on the Agric continent place us far from each other, but regardless of our distance physically I believe that our two nations have unique strengths that can benefit our people and nations mutually.

The summary of the deal we are proposing would center around a simplified Visa process for our citizens to visit each other's nations and a lowered tariff rate in general. Of course, we do not expect a blanket agreement to be acceptable to either party, we would be more than willing to negotiate specifics on certain industries and goods.

Dear Minister Hera Theadore of the Office of Foreign Affairs:

It is my hope that this communiqué reaches your office well. The Konfederacija Poja is open to the bettering of relations between our two nations. The Argic continent would benefit more from closer relations between its nations, it might reduce the violence on our continent. Perhaps Poja and Pentium could pave the way and be an example to other nations on our continent.

The Konfederacija Poja believes strongly in encouraging travel between nations as through cultural exchange tensions can always be released. In response, the Konfederacija Poja reciprocates visa-free travel up to ninety (90) days though most nations we have relations with typically reciprocate up to forty-five (45) days.

In regard to tariffs, the Konfederacija Poja is always willing to negotiate tariff rates with the understanding that any agreement must be mutually beneficially to both nations and not allow one nation to hold leverage or sway over the other. We understand this might hinder negotiations but the government of the Konfederacija Poja has a duty first and foremost to the Pojački people and must act within the best interests of the Pojački people.

Should the Republic of Pentium wish to discuss in detail, a mutual meeting can be arranged either in Pentium or Poja for a date in the near future.
