Erdland
Eilsagen Riegkjord, Yvuse County Yvsue Training Range The low humming of the tanks' engines were disturbed as the crews turned off the engines, a certain tranquillity came. 4 SKD 720s sat on top of the hill, looking at a distant mountain range that was littered with craters and burnt trees. Members of the Hejr huddled around the tanks, looking at the mountainside that they were looking upon. Various officers looked with their binoculars, waiting for the live firing exercise to begin. Exercises like these were uncommon, especially within the 2nd Armor Regiment, which has been constantly running low on resources for its fleet of vehicles due to shoddy Erdlandish logistics and factories unable to meet demands from recent militarization projects. This is the 3rd month in a row in which their spare parts for maintenance order was late, in the case of war all they can muster is 15 SKD 720s out of the 34 SKD 720s total of the regiment. Wasting fuel and material on a live firing test was unnecessary. These logistical problems were fairly common amongst the Hejr, it's unstable structure showing. "Gunner says targets are laser-ranged. They're waiting for the confirmation." A lone conscript spoke to an armor officer looking at the mountainside with his binoculars. The officer grabbed his radio, clenching it as he spoke onto it. "Start the firing test." An affirmative response was received. He lowered the radio back to his chest, and raised his binoculars – how fun. The tanks raised and lowered their cannons, aiming. A countdown started between the crews as the lead tank counted down – 1, 2, 3, On the way. The tanks opened fire, a fireball exiting their barrels as shells exited – the whizzing of the round as it flew through the air. The Hejr personnel watched at the mountain side as they saw the tracer rounds of the tank flying towards the mountainside. Boom. The soil was kicked up, explosions occurred, with the sound reaching the observers seconds from the shells hitting the ground. The observers with binoculars raised them, and assessed the effectiveness of their tank crews. 3 targets out of 4 hit. Better than last time, where only 2 targets were hit. One of the observers clenched onto their radio. "Good job fellas, you did better than last time. But you just wasted 1 round." The observers waited, and the tanks fired another round. 4 out of 4 targets hit. That's better. Satisfied with the results, the observers dispersed, talking amongst themselves or leaving – as the crews of the tanks left their vehicles, surveying what they had done. The state of the Erdlandish Armed Forces was not the best, to be honest. Logistical problems infested it even in peacetime and with an enormous budget in the scope of the Erdlandish economy. Hopefully next time, they can be better. 5 Link to comment
