Subject: Situation of the Preliminary Deployments for Operation Arakh

Introduction

This report aims to provide The Chief of Army Operations, and the Secretary of the Army with an estimated timetable for the opening stages of Operation Arakh, and force allocation requirements. The conclusion of this report will include the Army Strategic Planning Board’s recommendations.

Operational Timetable for the Final Variant

Operation Arakh is divided into four phases: preliminary deployments, activation of operation Arakh and the start of the air campaign, encirclements of cities, and the occupation of apostate territory.

Phase One of Operation Arakh is the positioning of the active portions of I, and V Corps (Designate as Battlegroup North or BG:N) in a position to threaten the Provinces of Marekh and Ramket and the City of Sedjerew (designate as Sector I). At the same time the IV, VI, and VIII Corp and the, 4th Hussars, and the 12th and 18th Infantry Reandlong with the Division of the Guards (Designate as Battlegroup Center or BG:C) will assemble at Fort Neferhorakty. The rest of the II, III, and VII, Corps (Designate Battlegroup South or BG:S) will be deployed to the south to threaten the remaining apostate territory (Designate Sector II). In addition, the Army Aviation Corps (AAC) will begin the large-scale launches weekly with forces necessary for the air campaign. After this the objective of phase one is to draw enemy forces north to oppose the BG:N and cause trade disruption.

Phase Two will begin upon official activation of Operation Arakh (Designate A-Day) the opening engagements of BG:C in which they will attempt to form a cordon between the Sectors I and II, and the air campaign will begin when the cordon is achieved BG:N, and BG:S will begin their movements into apostate held territory. We expect a relatively short time for the completion of Phase Two as the apostates lack mobile forces. at this time a No-Fly zone will be enforced over the Area of Operations.

Phase Three will begin once the cities are reached, at approximately A-Day+14, Encirclements and siege preparation will be made. BG:C will become our operational QRF.

Phase Four will begin once the cities are captured, at approximately A-Day+42, all forces other than V,  VII, and VIII Corps will return to pre-war postings and the remaining units begin re-integration operations.

Force Allocation Requirements

In operation Arakh the entirety of the Regular army is utilized, along with the Guards and the Army Air Corps. This is a major force allocation and could be reduced if the Navy becomes involved or, preferably, we can draw foreign interest. The Army Strategic Planning Board recommends foreign involvement over naval integration. If foreign aid cannot be gathered, the Army is confident it can complete Operation Arakh without naval assistance.

Conclusion

The Army Strategic Planning Board recommends moving the forces into place immediately for Operation Arakh, and activation of Phase 2 in eight weeks. If we are able to get foreign aid in that time, we recommend postponing Activation until foreign forces can be successfully integrated into our OOB. If foreign aide is not forthcoming, further delays are not advised.
