The Confederacy Now an Empire!

Vanarambaion

Recommended Posts

Emperor Tinsman made history twice in five minutes this afternoon. First, he became the first emperor since Shagtakh the Nasty to walk onto the floor of the Senate. He marched in in the middle of a debate over Thulian bus routes and was given speaking time by Speaker Thiamin. He then proceeded to dissolve the Senate. When reminded by the Speaker that he did not have that constitutional right, he dissolved the constitution. By standing rules, this means that the operating Constiution of the Holy Confederacy is the Constitution of 543AD, which gives the emperor nearly absolute power. The Vanarambaion Supreme Council is likely to rule on the dissolution later this week. Stay tuned for more info.

The Tamurin press discusses this event controversially. Some newspapers say, that this is the end of any form of democracy in one of the greatest nations of Europa. It could mean another threat for the democratic nations.

Others say, that Vanarambaion has never been a real democracy and this won't change anything.

Until now, the government has not issued a statement.

Such a powerful nation and a powerful ruler. How did you get put into the C.P.A.? Such a sad time for the Vanarambaion people. When they need power and leadership, you turn to an alliance seeking peace and love. What a complete turnaround for an empire. How hope this was just a temporary error in judgement.

As the Europa region was reeling from the collapse of the Vanarambaion democracy, the Parliament of the Allied States of Europtima released its statements on the events. Exactly 37 minutes after the news reached Europtima, Chancellor Godfrey commended Emporer Tinsman on his valiant display of ambition and courage. "The young nation of Europtima admires that developed nations, such as Vanarambaion, can still make quick decisions. In the future, we look to learn from our Vanarambaion brothers and would like to congratulate them in their time of...governmental downsizing, shall we say?" The Europtimitians were strongly encouraged to agree.

This just in from Vanarambaion: The Emperor has given an official statement on the recent moves. He claims that the Senate had failed in its duty to represent the people of Vanarambaion, and were allowing Vanarambaion to fall into the annals of history. He has proclaimed that he will work on a new Constitution that will be put in place of the recent Constitution, which will benefit the people of Vanarambaion more.

Speaker Thiamin, of the former Vanarambaion Senate has stated that this is a disgusting power grab by the Emperor to reinstitute an imperial system. He says that the Constitution wasn't officially revoked, as the means of doing it were made unconstitutional by the Constitution itself.

The Vanarambaion Supreme Council, long packed with members who tend to legislate from the bench, is expected to make a ruling on the revocation of the Constitution later this week.

The mood in the Tagmatium press over the disolution of the Vanarambaion Senate is one of mixed opinion. The more liberal end of the press declares it disgusting, removing powers from the people, but the more right-wing press thinks that it is a wise move, and that Vanarambaion will be stronger as a result.

A mob of protesters formed outside the Vanarambaion embassy in Tagmatica, but these were swiftly moved on by a charge of mounted police before any diplomatic incident could happen.
