Lusuviya Vision Statement

[Lusuviya]

The modern Republic of Lusuviya or Respublika Lusuviya developed in a fertile grasslands and its people developed a strong regional identity scorning the noble aristocrats and kings developing a strong agricultural culture in their Sichs and of freedom. In the 15th century a religious revolution laid the foundations of modern Lusuviyan Republicanism. In the early 15th century the Protestant faith of Skopism, named after the preacher Yevhen Skop began to spread which among its core tenants called for literacy for the common man to be able to read and interpret the Bible,  and for an equal society. During the Skop wars the Grand Duke of Lusuviya who had remained a staunch Catholic was defeated by the combined Sichs of Lusuviya establishing the Lusuviyan Confederacy as a lose confederation of smaller agricultural democratic states joined together for common defense with many warriors of the sichs would find themselves as highly sought after mercenaries abroad. This system slowly reformed into the modern Republic with the Siches still maintaining a degree of autonomy but no longer as de facto independent provinces of the early federation but with national democracy existing since essentially the late 15th century a strong parliamentarian and democratic tradition was formed.

Lusuviya in the modern sees itself as a large agricultural exporter with a modern economy. It tries to maintain positive relations with its neighbors and relies on Dazhdinia for port access. The army having not seen any large conflicts for centuries is relatively small but still puts pride in its elite forces and is eager to take part in foreign peace keeping operations. Over the past century agrarian and religious traditional coalitions have largely dominated Lusuviyi politics but with Secularism and urbanization raising in recent decades due to modern farming techniques and the growth of jobs in newer fields have lead to Lusuviyi politics taking another great shift.

The Republic of Lusuviya is located in Argis with a cool northern climate but its wealth lies in its extremely fertile black soil. With relatively sparse mineral wealth with only small coal deposits that are big enough to mention historically textiles and agriculture has been Lusuviya's pride as well as its Skopist faith. Clarification: I dont mean that Lusuviya has the most fertile soil what I meant was that it has a solid amount of Chernozem which is the most fertile type of natural soil just as a clarification not trying to claim some sort of magic super soil or anything.
