PROLOGUE

The first mention of any kind of EurthVision was way back in 2006. There was an edition in Prymont, and a scheduled edition in Variota. Later on, we skipped a few years. That is, until yesterday, over on Discord... Kirvinia: "Post something archetypal of music from your country! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbsg0Tu8cpc" Orioni: "Are you guys angling to host the https://iiwiki.us/wiki/EurthVision_Song_Competition ?" Kirvini: "That might be fun." So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. We're doing another round of EVSC.

 

CHAPTER 1 - THE HOST

HOSTING. Unlike previous events, this 2022 edition is still in need of a host. And you're in luck because the bidding period has just been opened. Whoever is selected as the host for this year will be in charge of running the story as OP. Before we get this show on the road, there are of course some requirements that come with the job. These requirements are both IC and OOC. IC requirements include: a city, venue, host and winning song for 2021. A city in your country is needed, likely your capital, that can realistically accommodate the media circus. The name of a venue, either old or newly built, which you can describe and use as the setting for this story. A host presenter as your main character that's willing to hype the acts, entertain guests, and announce results. Logically, if you bid to host, we'll also presume you won the 2021 edition (which didn't take place). For this winning song, include the name of your artist and title of your song. OOC requirements include time and dedication. The time to run this RP, which likely takes places in March and/or April. And the dedication to see this RP through to the end. This includes collecting votes and tallying up the results. See the excellent example by @Prymont.

CHAPTER 2 - THE PARTICIPANTS

Hosting is not for everyone. You might want to, but can't find the time. That's alright. You can still signup as a participant. We repeat the rules as set in previous editions by Prymont and @Variota.

SIGNUP. To start, you must sign up for EurthVision. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. At the moment, I'm not putting a set cut-off date on it, but once enough nations have shown their interest, and it starts to slow down, we'll put one on it. You won't be penalized if you sign-up and don’t end up posting a song, things happen. (You'll make Variota cry, though.) Once the cut-off date has passed, I'll open up the IC thread, and you'll be able to post your IC performance. 

In case people are interested in it, we can have commentary RP by the media; either in a different thread or as posts between the various performances. You won't have to write a song, in case that's not your jam, but having some public figure tell your viewers at home what he thinks is, although we'll obviously be very glad to have you join us if you decide to do both.

CHAPTER 3 - THE CONTEST

ROLEPLAY. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will RP the performance of their song. We require you to write your own lyrics for the song you enter into EurthVision; the melody you use is entirely yours to choose and should, for ease, be linked in your sign-up and in your eventual IC post. YouTube is generally preferred. 80% of your song has to be original and translating lyrics, from French to English as an example, doesn't count as original lyrics. The 80% is a fair number as it allows you to keep repetitive bits like the occasional 'yeah yeah', 'nah nah nah' and such without being disqualified. Nations are free to choose to host a national final, like I myself did last year, or internally select their representative. It's encouraged to use your nation's language, although you're free to write in English or any other language. Do try to provide an English translation, however, if you decide to write in a different language.

VOTING. Once the IC thread has been posted, nations will submit songs before the deadline. The host will post once the cut-off date for signups and such has been established. After the deadline, players may not edit or alter their song or performance in any way. This is to keep it fair to everyone. After the deadline, players vote. In 2018, we divided 20 points (IC'ly split between 10 from the audience at home, 10 from a professional jury of musicians and such from your nation) among each other's acts. In case the amount of nations joining in stays under 10, Variota suggested we keep to that method of voting. In case 10 or more participants join in, which we obviously hope, it's recommend we change the voting into ranking their top ten songs in the following format of 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points. Votes will be sent to the host via PM here or on Discord and kept secret until the final reveal either way. You may not vote for yourself, and every nation that posted a song has to participate in the voting.

I know a lot of people are a bit busy and I did not see the thread till today so perhaps next year we can try again!
