It is certainly a mark of some regret that I must be the first Megas Logothetes ton Barbaron – Grand Minister of Foreign Affairs – to write to your nation, as there is little excuse for the Greater Holy Empire to have not contacted your nation before. Central Argis has long been an area of the wurld that has outshone many others through its vibrant history and culture, which is something that is only becoming more apparent as years go by. I will admit that this may have been in part due to the somewhat unstable relations that Tagmatium has had with your northern neighbour. Their repeated changes in government over the last few years had rendered that part of central Argis somewhat unstable and therefore the attention of the Holy Imperial Government had turned elsewhere. As well as this, events in both eastern and western Argis, especially in recent years, have meant that the attention of the Holy Imperial Government has turned in those directions.

Diplomatic relations between our nations is not something that should have been overlooked. Equally, please do not think that my mentioning of the nation that once ruled yours is any sort of implication that the Greater Holy Empire considers your nation of lesser importance and stature and therefore less worthy of diplomatic relations. Far from it. This is why I suggested that this lack of proper, formal relations was a mark of regret. To remedy this, I suggest that our nations undertake an exchange of embassies, so that we can start our diplomatic relations on the proper footing. It is hoped by the Holy Imperial Government that this would be the start of a mutually-beneficial relationship between our countries, one that would add much to lives of the citizens of both Transbaltia and Tagmatium. In time, I hope it will lay down the foundations for closer ties.
