Hello, @Adam!

Welcome to Eurth!

Are there any questions we can answer?

Thanks. For now, I only have one question. Out of curiosity, how long does it usually take for a roleplay application to be processed?

I'll let y'all know if any further questions arise.

Firstly, welcome to Eurth :).

I'm not sure if you know or not, but to join the canon of Eurth to begin interacting with other members' nations you must first get through the academy.

To graduate from the Academy you must (at minimum) complete a Vision Statement (the basics of your country's cultures and history and what you want to get out of your nation, see other Vision Statements if you're struggling to think of anything) and an Academy RP post - a noncanon RP post about something in your country be it historical, modern day, anything really (these posts can be made retroactively canon if you would like to continue their story post-academy)

Once those two are complete the Staff will vote on whether or not to let you graduate - they may ask for additional posts if the staff team are undecided or require more evidence of competence in your writing.

Once you've graduated from the academy you can make a map application (which is where I come in as the Forum's Cartographer).

Sounds like a lot and even a bit scary but honestly it shouldn't take much time to do and when we pride ourselves on good quality writing within our community it's 100% worth it if you wish to stay on Eurth.

If you'd like to talk to other members of the forum more easily, we also have a Discord Server you can join.

Huh. I had something to say, but I looked at the current list of candidates and noticed that I am on it, which rendered my question about whether or not I can write a Vision Statement and Academy RP post without staff looking at my initial application moot. Apologies for wasting your time.

The list tracks your progress for the purpose of transparency between staff and candidates. When you apply to the Front Desk it isn't a true application in the sense you're thinking of. It is processed in addition with your other submissions when we vote. Your vision statement,  Academy Post(s), and Front Desk submissions are all processed at once when they are all received.

Forgive the silly question, but do I become eligible for the academy automatically, or is there no approval process for the academy?

There is no approval process for the Academy, you are automatically admitted to it. You aren't automatically admitted to the region (or map) until you have graduated from it. This is decided by staff once you have met the minimum criteria.
