OOC: Dolch Conflict

Recommended Posts

A while ago I took on the task of adding a little depth to the new slate of Dolchland, and being an empire I decided to come up with some constituent states, with 5 main kingdoms.

Along with the five kingdoms a number of smaller Duchies, Landgraves, Electorates and every noble title one can think of fall beneath.

I have come up with some basic information about the Kingdoms themselves, the flag, capital, leader and the ruling house, but this is far from final and if anyone wants to add or change anything feel free to ask, if you want pretty much anything to help your own lore whether it be the name of a city or the ruling house just say so. Its not hard to see that some are based on actual German states, most prevalent of them being Habstria, so if anyone has an idea to change things up slightly do shout.

The Empire itself is ruled by an Emperor (I know! Who would have thought so?), who is elected by constituent rulers, I don’t know if we’re at a stage yet to decide who gets to vote, and how many votes they should get at that, but it would be easy to say that the larger Kingdoms hold the most leeway, and I’m sure most of the smaller constituents would be aligned to a larger Kingdom in the election and in general court politics. The current Emperor is Heinrich Johannes von Fleischmann, of the Ausburg-Fleischmann Dynasty, which also rule the empire’s largest kingdom, Habstria. The Emperor’s brother is the Habstrian King, and he is the nephew of the late Emperor.

I would imagine that a Habstrian rival such as Panedonia would seek to challenge their authority over the empire (As I would think that they have had sufficient control for a while), possibly with the alliance of one or two of the other kingdoms and an assortment of the smaller states.

Im not yet sure how all this plays into other aspects of Dolchic history, namely the colonial empire, as it might have been a challenge for the Imperial government to control colonies itself, so it may be a possibility for the constituents to have funded their own colonial expeditions, but internationally (And maybe to the Emperor as well) it would have been considered a Dolchic colony, instead of a Panedonian or Habstrian.

I do plan to add a lot more information and depth to this but for now any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for starting the thread @Ahrana and thank you @Delamaria for giving us somewhat of a foundation to mold with for the new lore that has to be "fleisched" out.

Before I continue whilst I don't want to sound like a broken record or overbearing parent I just want to make sure everyone knows that without lore we can't really have a conflict. What the hell kind of reasons do we even have to fight over control of Dolchland if we don't have a history of reasons? There will be plenty of time to get our word in as to how your nation has the bestest most bestest 👌🏼  claim in all of Eurth for a piece or all of Dolchland.

For me personally, I envision that my history would tie in around the time Dolchland kingdoms seemed to establish colonies. The Age of Discovery and Sail I have in lore they leased land to establish a penal colony. I had hoped this was be something that lasted for quite some time, perhaps one of the last overseas possessions to be lost by the empire around the 20th Century.

I will say that I would highly recommend we drop as many name references to Derthalen as we can so perhaps there should be another name for the royal family instead of Fleischmann. Brownie points if we also can accomplish 'original' names for the final and historical constituent states of Dolchland.

That seems accurate when thinking about where and how they would expand.

I was thinking about something else today, so culturally what is Dolchland? Is it something similar to German or something else entirely?

I know when Derth was here I believe if I am remembering correctly it was German based but I could be wrong on that one and if I am then so be it. Yet, if I am correct in that then are we going to keep it that way or not?

It was a strange mash of stereotypical, almost Prussian, German with a mix of almost randomly-picked Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40K thrown in. A lot of that can be stripped out and started again, I think.
