[Academy RP] Khanikstan's National Swimming Debut

The voice of Ahmed Ayman is sent through the airwaves of Khanikstan. Villages all over Khanikstan are huddling around their village TV or tucked away in the homes with their hears pressed against the radios. Large cities are holding public viewing parties attracting people by the hundreds. The broadcast shows Ahmed Ayman in 480p sitting at a desk with a microphone in his hand pool side.

"It's been 54 long years since this land has seen sporting competitions, and under His Respected Supreme Leader Hamad Khan's excellent guidance, he agrees that international sport is a viable path forward for the Khanikstan people to introduce themselves to the wurld after decades of war kept the country isolated. His Respected believes the Khanikstanian populous to be rife with wurld class swimmers, and has promised only the most excellent accommodations for national athletes. That decree two years leads us here today on the second anniversary of the announcement of the program. Today. 32 swimmers will take the pool to compete in the 100 meter freestyle race. For those listening from across Khanikstan unfamiliar with the swimming, a freestyle stroke is the classic form of swimming. Swimmers will be reaching their arms forward and pulling their arms back with the water while kicking their feet across the pool! Most of the original four thousand athletes competing admitted they had only learned to swim after the Supreme Leader's decree, so we hope this broadcast inspires Khanikstanians everywhere that they too can bring home some national pride." 

 

"Lets break it down to how we got here, and what today is going to look like." The broadcast switches to silent footage of Hamad Khan giving the decree, and then cycles through various clips of military personnel marching, working or training   "Two years ago His Respected announced a national swimming program that would give only the best athletes a chance at a better life. With most of these men today active service members, a good showing in the pool could mean a lot right now with the political climate what it is"

The broadcast cuts to a black screen. 45 seconds later, the broadcast cuts back to the set by the pool where Nazif Muhiddin sits with his microphone

"While all Khanikstanian service members are deeply proud of their service for their country and the Khanikstan Communist Party, they most importantly want to show off the might of the Khanikstan Armed Forces by showing off their dominance as athletes. Now, lets break it down to how we got here, and what today is going to look like."

The broadcast lists quickly through roughly four thousand names, before cycling through the 32 competitors here today. Footage of the athletes racing or at the pool

"four thousand swimmers from military bases across the country took the pool in groups of eight, with the top thirty two fastest times earning you a spot today here in Varrock. Today, those thirty two swimmers will be broken down into four heats. The top sixteen times will advance to two semi final rounds where we will end our action for the day! The final race will take place a few weeks from today in honor of Supreme Leader Hamad Khan's 37th birthday. 

The fastest time coming in belonged to Houshmand Jarral out of Manahal's military base. He will be racing in the third heat of the day. Burak Khawaja is another name to note as he JUST squeaked in by a hair taking up the 32nd spot. If you think you remember his name, you might! Burak Khawaja was the Khanikstan Special Investigation Bureau (KSIB) agent who captured infamous radical Azbekistan loyalist Khamas Hoaral in a sting last spring. He's surely a crowd favorite going in!"

The broadcast cuts to the pool, where the 8 swimmers in the first heat line up at their blocks.

"We are poolside just a minute away from the beginning of a new prosperous era under His Respected Supreme Leader for many years to come. In our first heat we have eight athletes representing six different military bases. The swimmers have taken their mark, and the gun sounds! Khanikstan sports are back! The first length of the pool stays close, with the lead swimmer Zurvan Chauhan swimming at a rough 52 second pace right before the first turn. The names read Shadvari Mirani touching the wall first, Turag Prajapati second and Chauhan not far behind. The pace definitely increases in the last twenty five meters! A top three finish here will guarantee a spot in the semis and it looks like its gonna be a tight finish for the top three but a gap separates them from fourth. Vineet Ajnera gets his fingertips on the wall first!  Mirani lands in second, Chauhan third.  Turag Prajapati settles in at 50.87. With only sixteen spots available, he's got a lot of athletes still to race to test that time against.

The broadcast remains at the final results screen for over two minutes. Silence flooded the airways until loud mic feedback blared its way through the nation's speakers. A third voice cuts through the feedback, corrects the mic and begins to speak in a calm monotone voice over the results graphic

"The Khanikstan Communist Party is urging all citizens to return to their homes. This is not a drill. As of one hour from the end of this broadcast, Khanikstan is under strict curfew until further notice. No one will be permitted to leave their homes unless specified by Khanikstan Communist Party Official. This is not a drill. Criminals caught for breaking curfew will be treated as traitors to the Peoples Republic of Khanikstan. 

 

The KSP's seal is shown on the broadcast, the national anthem is played, and it fades to black.
