Map Application - Ulfheimr

Recommended Posts

Nation in Eurth: Ulfheimr
Flag: spacer.png

Capital name:Ulfar
Capital location: Inland and heavily fortified
Stats Chosen:

POPULATION - Medium

LAND AREA - High

GDP - Medium (on the low side)

Factbook/iiwiki link: Work in Progress

Culture: The culture will be heavily based on historical old norse culture along with the modern day mannerisms of the germanic pagan reconstructionist movement. Spirituality and faith will be a major part of the culture. They are a warlike people, might makes right. Their favored building material is wood, they will use concrete at a slower pace as they take the time to engrave or decorate it. The leader is of the warrior and priest caste, who lead society. The beserkergang hold greater authority than the typical citizen.
Climate: I envision Ulfheimr with mild summers and cold winters.
History: Ulfheimr would be greater than 300 years old, but due to a lack of record keeping on non-perishable materials, their history is just as much mythological to everyone else as it is to them.

Desired Location: Argis? Whatever you feel is best

Hello!
Congratulations on passing the academy, now let's try get you on the map :). I also assume a member of staff will change your forum name to Ulfheimr soon.

Your stats I've translated into our point system, which comes out as 1/2/1. Which is perfectly fine/balanced. Having 1 point in population and 1 in GDP means your population can range between 11 - 30 million people, and your GDP per capita between 6,000 - 15,000. Which means your total nominal GDP can range anywhere from 66,000 million to 450,000 million. 2 points in land area means your nation can be anywhere between 270,000 - 350,000 km^2.

Regarding climate and culture, what you are asking for is very reasonable and makes my life easier. Generally your climate specifications can allow for your placement in these areas. Although the dark cyan is subarctic. But still within your specified mild summers and cold winters.

Below are a couple proposals for where you could go - do know all proposed borders are temporary and will be fine tuned after you choose one (or none) of the proposals. Also once a proposal is chosen, you would need the consent of those around that area for you to be placed there.

1, 2, & 3: Canamo Area
unknown.png unknown.png unknown.png

Coming out at 298,000km^2, this location is directly between Ateenia and Mokhavia. Ateenia being our current resident Germanic Pagans and Mokhavia our Siberian Pagans, your nation would fit perfectly in the area. The climate is also a bit cold (only 1–3 months above 10 °C (50.0 °F), coldest month at or below −38 °C (−36.4 °F)), but still habitable with the many rivers and relatively flat terrain in the west.

The second area is 325,700km^2. This area is very similar to the first, but further away from Ateenia and slightly hotter temperate as well as easy freshwater lake access

Lastly is the third area at 338,600km^2. Bordering Ahrana, the coastline and most southern locations are a warmer temperate climate. This one can also be modified to be more similar in shape to Ahrana for a greater temperate climate. This proposed area also has ocean access.

4:

At 334,500km^2, this location is rather more isolated than the previous 3 other proposals, however does provide clear open ocean access. You will also have those small islands off the coastline. However this would be historically you would have to deal with many competing powers in the area - primarily Seylos and Tagmatium. The latter being an avid anti-pagan state.

Thank you for the offers, I will be more than happy to take option 4. I have actually had my eye on this spot due to the excellent inlet access. I would like a population of 30 million, and a gdp of 200 million during times of peace, and maximal of 450 million during times of external war

Metz's hintings that I might be some sort of meddling force aside, my only comment is that Proposal 4 lies along the likely route of Christian movement into Argis, which is key to the lore of nations further west in Argis. They'd have come by island hopping from the Occident.

The obvious answer to this, however, is that any missionaries/refugees/whatever just started moving across the mouth of the Auraid Bay. Presumably after too many of them came to sticky ends.

Whatever else effect this might have on your lore or our shared history can be worked out :)

I eagerly look forward to inviting the christian missionaries to the annual nailing of the nazarene.

More in a historical sense. Likely Late Antiquity and later. With a big increase around AD700-800, when a new sect took hold in Tagmatium and drove out all the others.

I'd imagine that there might be sites of cultural/historic interest all along that coast of Argis.

Strictly speaking, they're not going to be of Tagmatium's denomination and would probably be away from you, anyway.

Oh, so like ancient religious sites?
