Hello my name is kromeus. My nationstates nation is called the senate and people of newrome, but I do not wish to desire to do a roman nation, so I have changed this forum's nation name to Ulfheimr - land of the wolves. My vision for this nation is to represent a tribal land of devout pagans who live together but seperate. Even sometimes to war with each other. Their ways may seem horrifying to others such as animal sacrifice to their gods, but I intend to showcase what a modern tribal/balkanized norse nation would look like in the modern era using historical information and modern reconstruction of germanic paganism. I wish for it to exist in a fluid state of warring tribes who hold devout beliefs, and at any sign of outside threat they come together under the banner of a 'god-king' to lead them to victory.

Reviewing NS, I see there's no nation called Ulfheimr. https://www.nationstates.net/nation=ulfheimr Could you share the name of the nation you have in Eurth? The other name you mentioned is in another region called New Western Empire. https://www.nationstates.net/nation=the_senate_and_people_of_newrome

Good point. We follow MT RP with most stories taking place in real time. This doesn't need to be a carbon copy of RL countries or cultures. I understand what you mean by tribal pagan Balkanized norse nation. Just as long as there's some formal head of state of diplomatic office for other's to interact with.

Is this person a priest-king or shaman? Do they receive divine omens? Is it a position for life or is the shaman frequently replaced? If they fail to lead their people to victory, does this have any consequences? I'm reminded of the "heavenly mandate" in Chinese history.

That is the correct nation in the western empire. I do not know the name of your region as I found the link to this website through reddit rather than the region. 

This person will hold the title of erilaz and he will hold the position for as long as he is able through physical, mental or temporal might or a combination thereof. While others go to shamans to hear wisdom or divination, he is expected to be a rune master and be able to change reality on his own, with his connection to the gods independent of any other.  If he suffers a major enough defeat, he may offer himself up as a sacrifice to regain a shred of honor.
