Ochoa
My name is Jonah and I recently got into D&D and some other RPGs. I love writing and wurld-building and creating things in general. I look forward to going through the academy and becoming better at writing and creation and (hopefully) meeting some new people. I know there's a discord and all, but that seems overwhelming to me to have a NationStates account, Eurth account, and Discord and such. Just my thoughts! My nation is called The Kingdom of Ochoa (oh-CHOH-uh). I will give all the history, meaning behind the flag, government type, leadership, etc. as I get going more; can't bite off more than I can chew right now! I am genuinely confused, though, how NationStates affects the RP here and vice versa: am I bound by the population stats, etc. in NS here? I'm not entirely sure how that works.... Is Eurth like Eurth, or is it just a region within the virtual wurld in NationStates? Or both, depending on which site you are on? I look forward to playing and writing! Cashar
Hello, Ochoa! Welcome to Eurth! If you're looking to meet new people, joining the Discord is a great place to start where you can chat with people in real time, but I understand if its a little overwhelming to do that right now. So, please take your time with that if you'd like! I like your nation's name! It sounds cool! And I can't wait to see what you write about it! Nationstates' stats don't really affect the RP here. If you look at the academy specifically at the link involving the Intro and Balance sheet you'll be able to decide some defining stats for your nation involving your country's population, GDP, and your country's area size. I think for the most part nationstates is just a gateway to Nation Roleplay here (lol). Though, I kind of like to use the issues I encounter in Nation States as a kind of inspiration for news stories in my nation (for instance, I encountered an issue about a water crisis and decided my nation should have to deal with a water crisis here especially since my nation is located in a desert area). Eurth is kind of its own wurld (with its own continents and climate and everything : https://www.europans.com/map/ (This is the map if you wanna take a look at our wurld as it is currently - though, you don't need to worry about the map or where your country will be located right now since you gotta pass the Academy first). We try to keep things realistic and in-step with actual Eurth (with the technology only being slightly behind real Eurth) while also allowing creative freedom with our countries! So, for instance, you're not going to run into any fantasy-like dragons or have an encounter with an alien spaceship or anything like that. But you can totally decide what kind of language is in your country (it can be based on something or totally made up), what type of cars people in your country drive (or don't - a lot of people in my country get by on camel or through bus), what type of music is popular in your country, political scandals, etc. etc. etc. All sorts of fun things! 4 Link to comment
Ochoa
Thank you for your informative reply; I appreciate it! And I think the name is cool, too. I can't wait to share the history behind it. So, technically, I can delete my NS account and just play on here and not be worried about missing out on anything here? Cashar
Hmmm.... I actually don't know the answer to that question (maybe wait for a mod to answer that one)! I know Nationstates' stats don't effect anything on here. But it is fun to answer issues on Nationstates! I can't wait for you to share the history behind it, too! I like reading about the nations people have made up! I hope you enjoy it here! 3 Link to comment
Haruspex
Welcome to Eurth. I would hold off on deleting your nation, while it doesnt really reflect canon here, it could be useful. 2 Link to comment
Ochoa
Okay, I'll keep it. The issues are fun on there, too, just like Cashar said. I would like to *maybe* change the classification of my nation, but it doesn't have the option I want on NS. Not sure if that discrepancy between NS and here matters, though. 3 Link to comment
Tagmatium Rules
Hello and welcome to Eurth! I see people have already been answering questions! We do ask that people keep a nation in Eurth on NS but it doesn't necessarily need to reflect your RP nation. 3 Link to comment
Ochoa
Good to know. I was concerned about the direction NS seemed to take some of my responses to issues. I want it a certain way, so I'm glad that Eurth is the main focus (it would seem). 2 Link to comment

Well to be honest there's plenty of players who "forget" about their NS nation from time to time. Usually sending a private message can get people to restore their nation if it ceased to exist. I've slipped up as well a few time in the past. Over the years we grew to depend less on NS, but the region is still a nice calling card for people to find us. We tend to forget about this and correct me if I'm wrong but it's one of the main reasons how most people arrived here. 4 hours ago, Tagmatium Rules said: We do ask that people keep a nation in Eurth on NS but it doesn't necessarily need to reflect your RP nation. Exactly as Tagmatium writes. It's a nice courtesy and helps establish your first impression. 2 Link to comment
Ochoa
This is wonderful feedback. I definitely would never have found this without NationStates, and I wouldn't have found that if I wasn't specifically searching for "virtual economy RP games". 2 Link to comment

That's an interesting approach. Looking at the results I get for this search query ("virtual economy RP games"), it looks like there are some Steam games you'll need to install and play alone, or tabletop which is probably mostly offline. 1 Link to comment
Ochoa
At least that's where I started searching. I can't remember where I went from there. 1 Link to comment
Ochoa
Long story short: I'm back on and ready to be here. My plan is as follows: 1) get approved to be on the map, preferably in the area I requested last time; 2) re-write some minor portions of the history and such; 3) get going on the IIWiki page for "Kingdom of Ochoa"; 4) continue the RP/story I have going for the leaders that I published last year; and 5) consult/collaborate with a nation on some possible RP ideas. I also came across my original post about the direction I'd like to take my nation, pasted below: The ultimate visions for the Kingdom of Ochoa are 1) to bring House Salomon’s reign to an abrupt end and establish a more self-governing, productive nation; 2) establish mutually beneficial relations with other nations near and far; 3) discover the missing histories of the Ne’evuk peoples, and Ochoan heritage in Great Anglia; 4) dive into the economy of Ochoa; and 5) create as much content as possible for past events and timelines, current happenings and figures, and future plans, all in the iiWiki page for official canon and reference. One of the advantages of a historic RP are the possibility to “skip ahead” in time. It allows your story to span military years within a shorter period of time. This doesn't mean the story has to be set in the early 1900s. You could just as easily pick-up where you left things back in July 2021. Just an idea. 1 Link to comment
Ochoa
In regard to this portion of the vision, it would be a present RP, but I am still adding a much more thorough history for the nation before I kinda pick up on that part again (maybe). 1 Link to comment
