Question: i have my two mercenary characters that i would like to involve in the war that is going on in the south-western part of Europa, problem is that all the prequel rp is done only through news, so i don't know how to rp with them, because i would like to use the narrative way i always use like i did for the Dalstavian War :(

@Orioni@Seylos About this: may i make a news post, and under it (maybe as spoiler) the narrative RP part? Just to see in details the war of expansions and add some more lore :D

So I wanted to get everyone's opinions on the Anglia crisis so far. As of now Anglia has secured itself in Europa with the OCA allies and is turning its attention to the New Wurld. I'm hoping to get some feedback from everyone on how they would like to progress and I'm going to put a poll on here as well.

My question is mainly how do we want Anglia to be aggressive. Do we want the staff to push it forward to cause conflict, or do we want each nation to RP its own encounters in a more decentralized matter. I would really like to hear everyone's opinions on this.

Speaking only for myself, at the moment I'm quite content with containment of the OCA. Some strong words to keep them off the Meteorolan archipelago. A declaration without teeth. The usual bluffing.

I'm open to rolling the dice on whether this proves to be successful or not. Continuing tensions with the OCA seem like fun, unpredictable factor for future stories. What used to be a great unknown region has now received a face and opinion.

I believe we had discussed an Anglian ally being placed just south of myself to provide Aurelia with some action. The details are not finalized as far as I know, but we had discussed it being a former Lysian colony that had then been ruled by Fearannteth since ~1790. As far as I know it has no name yet.

So in my opinion it would be best if the staff controlled the major actions (such as declarations of war, surrender, relations, etc.) of this NPC but with Aurelia jointly controlling military actions, history, and such.

This would put Anglia in control of yet another strategic choke point.

Me and @Oyus finally had a discussion about this "Aurelian Anglia ally" and this is what we came up with:

Côte de Fourrure (CF)

spacer.png

Proposed borders and cities

Capital: Port au Sud

Government: Military Stratocracy

Demographics: Majority Lysian with a Fearannth minority

Ruler: Field Marshal Caitlin Friseal

spacer.png

(IRL Ann Dunwoody)

Basic History:

  • CF is founded by Lysian fishers, whalers, fur traders, and merchants in the early 1700s and becomes an important center of trade connecting the west and the east.
  • CF is seized by Fearannth (FT) as a colony. (Unrelated: Several thousand Lysians flee north to assimilate with the natives and eventually found Zaxar).
  • FT loses control of the colony in 1756 due to conflict at home.
  • The nation of CF is founded and becomes self-governing
  • Shortly afterwards, an ethnically FT military coup takes over the government
  • CF's government increasingly aligns itself with Anglia in order to try and maintain their grip on power against ethnic Lysian resistance.

Note: this is still awaiting confirmation by the other Southern Aurelians ( @Kirvina @Rhodellia @Anatea )

Seems pretty good :)

Although they're only distantly related to the Lysians/SDC, would they have much of an opinion on it? As sort of their distant ancestor nation?

To try and address your question, I was more thinking that my Lysian population would resent the fact that their ethnic brothers are being oppressed right on their borders as well as they would have historic claims to the region. Similar to how ethnic germans and Irish etc in the US wanted to support sides in WW1 despite them not having lived there at any point. This could help to set the stage for the outbreak of war (possibly) in South Aurelia while making diplomatic solutions harder to achieve.

For me looks good, nothing against it!

I can take this to be an NPC application for Côte de Fourrure to be placed on the map if @Orioni provides me permission.
Let's the nation exist on the map for a bit before the Anglian event kicks off into high gear, and means the Aurelians can start their portion of the Anglian crisis sooner rather than later.

This looks good, glad to see an agreed Anglia NPC in Aurelia.

I plan on slowly moving forward with Dolchland stuff, to show some more Anglian involvement to get the New Wurld rolling.

Noice, can't wait for the invas- i mean, for having to deal peacefully with Anglia >:D

We'd ask the nearest neighbour for permission. But that's @Zaxarand he proposed the idea.  And the other locals @Anatea, @Rhodellia and @Kirvina also appear to be onboard. So that's a green light from everyone who might be impacted.

In early January, I proposed to open up diplomatic channels with @Great Anglia to try and defuse the situation. The response was rather ambiguous. Which neutral, third-party nation would be willing to serve as location for such a discussion. You don't have to do anything, just allow being mentioned as a place where diplomats try to work out a disagreement.

Anglia cows the perfidious Orinese!

Only Tagmatium and @Haruspex stand against the threat of Anglian dominion!

Zaxar is neutral at the moment so we'd be happy to host. You could use the Sandrica Palace or the Green Falls Palace if you don't mind traveling far away to a non-Europan country. It may be beneficial to meet in a region which neither Anglia nor the anti-Anglia (trident maybe- idk what alliance it is exactly) alliance have any claim. I understand though if you'd rather a middle point in Europa.
