Step-By-Step Walkthrough

1. NEWCOMERS TO BE GIVEN THE PRIMER & HANDBOOK [IGNORE THIS FOR NOW]
2. CREATE A POST BELOW AND GIVE YOUR NATION BACKGROUND- Make a brief outline of your nation's history, culture, politics, etc. This is the first post you should make in registering for inclusion into the RP World.
   1. A template is available on FRONT DESK post one copy THERE and one copy on your thread HERE.
3. NEWCOMERS TO SELECT STATS- A document will be sent to you. In it, you will find a sheet for selecting things like population, economic data, and land area. Follow instructions and fill out the enclosed sheet. Once you have selected, edit your post HERE by adding the stats you have correctly chosen.
4. NEWCOMERS CLAIM SOVEREIGN AREA- Follow instructions to create an application in the Map Application Process. Once you have posted a copy THERE, copy & paste that on your master thread HERE. This is the third and final step of registering a new nation.
   1. Note: in this proposal, claiming a land area is limited in terms of square kilometres following the above “Selecting Stats Procedure”.
5. FINAL BALANCE: MODIFIERS, NATURAL RESOURCES, & TECHNOLOGY ARE ASSIGNED- Moderators will consider the given stats and desired map placement. From this data, they will assign one or two modifiers appropriate to balance (positive or negative) the new nation. In this step:
   1. Await moderator response to your data so far.
   2. Moderators will then inform you if there is an opportunity to "buff" or "nerf" your nation with special modifiers. These will vary on a case by case basis.
   3. One-to-one discussion with an RP Moderator.
   4. Once finalised, any modifiers to your nation must be noted in an edit to your master thread here.

The above post refers to a proposal about a month and a bit in the making. The proposal addresses the common problem we've been faced with many times: newcomer imbalance and misplaced expectations.

It is currently under beta-testing and review by all parts of the staff. Feel free to scan it or talk to any @admin or @RpMod/Mentor on the Discord if you have particular concerns. Hopefully, with the near implementation of this measure, we can nip the problem of having too many un-managed newcomers in the bud and finally get to a productive common ground with them.

This has been made public so members of the community may keep themselves informed on the staff's activities and potentially new mechanics.

Full Name of Nation: The Federation of Altegonnia

Government type of nation: An Oligarchic one party state.

Culture/ethnicity of your nation: White Celtic with some central European influences.

Give us a short description of your nation: Altegonnia is a nation new to stability with a long history of civil conflict. Ideological differences between opposing groups flared into a fifty year long civil war that only ended a decade ago at the hands of a determined military. However after victory the military did not hand power back over to the civilian government, but instead reformed a new government in which the military itself holds a strong hold on political power, leading most to find the democratic aspects of the new government to be a farce.

How would you describe your level of experience in regards to roleplaying: I posses over a decade of experience RPing. from nations to adventures to being a literal god. its been fun.

Do you have any prior experience on NationStates? If so, give a brief accounting of it.: I've Rp'd in several RP rich but OOCly unstable regions. Im 21 now and been on NS since I was like 14 so you can do the math I suppose. I've seen a lot of lore and hard work go down the drain in such conflict. But hopefully here will be better.

Are you currently or do you plan to be a member of the NationStates World Assembly?: I am not due to a nation death but will rejoin soon.

I played an RP game called Space Station 13 for two years, have participated in 3 D&D campaigns, and feel confident in my ability to create interesting and believable content within an RP context.

I'm a huge nerd for fashion, drag, and video games. I haven't seen a raccoon in real life.

They've already been super helpful and I'd love to keep getting feedback from them!

Why do you want to join this region?: I want to be able to RP and be a part of a community that's grown from a small browser game into a real place with lore and stories. Hopefully I can add my own stories and lore to it as well.
Have you ever had trouble with any moderators?: Rihan said my stories were "good" but not great so i'm pretty sure they hate me. /s im kidding rihan is an absolute gem and i'd die for them.
Do you have any prior experience on NationStates? If so, give a brief accounting of it.

Just use of the base game and some factbooks but no real RP play.
Are you currently or do you plan to be a member of the NationStates World Assembly? I used to be before I was distracted by school for a while and i'm not sure if i'm going to rejoin for a little while.

Location: Island
History: A former colony of Limonaia, first colonized in the late 19th century and gaining its independence January first, 1930. In 1983 the economy crashed leading to a depression, ending after the government defaulted on debt in July of 1985 and was unable to supply the nation with fuel or electricity for 5 days. Afterwards the government was approached by the 20 most profitable companies on the island who proposed to finance the island in exchange for being permanent members of a judiciary committee. The government accepted and Galahinda rapidly transformed into the hedonistic and self absorbed society it is today.

I don't know if I need modifiers but am open to discussions regarding nerfs towards the nation! The best option I see for a modifier would most likely be scenario 1.
