Meteorola can no longer ignore the alarming news pouring out of Baltirow-Woud. The government seems to be loosing control of the country. With several factions vieing for control of the government, bloodshed has claimed thousands of lives. No public statements have emerged from the government.

 

For the safety of our citezens that reside close to Baltirow-Woud and for stability in the region, Meteorola will begin to dispatch military troops and personel to the region to put an end to the bloodshed and to distribute aid to the refugees. We have attempted to contact the current government to let them know of our intentions, but have not recived word.

 

At the moment we belive we have the resources to handle the situation alone, however we will ask for assistence if it becomes neccissary.

If assisstance is required to prevent the current troubles in Baltirow-Woud worsening, the Holy Empire of Tagmatium will send any peace-keeping army units that are necessary.

At the moment we are maintaining order, there has been little to suggest a worsening conflict. We will ask for help from the Europa community only if we cannot maintain order and distribute aid ourselves.

We find it insulting that SS would even imply we had aggressive intentions in the region. Further, your direct assumption that we would cause harm to the environment and impose our beliefs on a foriegn populus is unneccissary, our track record on both topics is unquestionable. Your unexplainable aggression has no place in Europa and infringes on the integraty of all of Europa.

We would like to announce to all of Europa at the humanitarian crisis we have/are preventing in BW. The armed factions have vanished as law and order have been established and as food and medicine have been made availible. We are concerned about the strain this is puttng on our economy.

 

As BW returns to normalcy we intend to begin to get industry functioning again to create strrong trade alliances in an effort to end the severe strain our economy is under as well as to make BW a valuable part of Europa again.

 

During this time of strained relations in the area, we appreciate SS's use of restraint, and thier understanding of our mission in BW.

Where did we say you had aggressive intentions? Where at all did we come off aggressive? Is it when we said 'We wish to pursue talks into which we can resolve this matter respectively'? You my friend are the aggressor. Please note this qoute.

Again we ask where was the hostile intentions? We do not see one threat in Niederoestereichs statements yet your nation feels they must throw their might around. We welcomed you to our islands and with open arms. We give you nothing but kind words and respect, yet we get this in return. We will however ask one last time for you to come to the table so we may talk about this situation that has both of our interests invovled. Any more hostile actions or talk will result in your removal from Baltirow-Woud as well as the two small islands many Meteorolans call home.

Correct me if I am wrong but these are acusations that imply that Meteorola has intentions of remaining in BW, and proposes that we would force our beliefs on the people of BW. It further asserts that we would devastate the environment of BW in the proliferation of our beliefs. You spoke these words in response to our open announcement that we were launching a humanitarian mission.

These statements imply that Meteorola has dark intentions in BW and easily speak for themselves.

We would also like to apologize for any statement that seemed to be harsh. We were not aware of your intentions and were just stating what we were most concerned with. We have high respect for Meterola and their government and would be willing, if the Baltirow-Woud government was to fall we would be willing to even share the responsibility for helping maintain the nation. There are many of our brothers living in Baltirow-Woud and want the economic security that the SS offers but cant just give up their current land. How many engineers do you plan to send and for how long?

We are willing to send in a strength of 2000 from the Niederoestereichian Army. About 400 officers and 1600 other ranks. They are trained to aid in, the provision of essential services such as water, electric power generation and reticulation, fire fighting, sewerage, drainage and waste disposal, cold storage and air conditioning and the winning of local resources, (eg timber and gravel). Also in the construction, repair and maintenance of facilities such as airfields, bridges, railways, ports, roads, buildings and bulk fuel installations.

 

We are also willing to send medical staff from the medical corps to immunize locals to prevent disease.

 

But, before anything is committed, we want to know the length of period your government is proposing to occupy the lands of Baltirow-Woud. With the intent of nations and people out there laying in wait for a government to fall, to seize land and their chance, it is simple a precaution. We wish you to send a delegation or our Captial Ranke, to discussions on the matter, members of S.S.S.S. government are also welcome to attend

With sovereign territory so near to Baltrow-Wood and the means to aid in the humanitarian mission there; We, the people of Ekainak, wish to take an active role in this matter. We are able to send 700 civilian medical practitioners to aid the people of Baltrow-Wood and are willing to send military personel if this nation desintegrates into disorder. We have no imperialist thoughts in this affair but we wish to take a more active role in the area.

Meteorola finds this kind gesture, not needed. Between SSSS, Niederoestereich, and ourselves we can more than handle the situation. You also are still in the process of integrating the Cenepa Islands into greater Ekainak.

So be it. Engineers will be sent via supply ship to the coast of BW. Once there we will ether build an airfield or repair an abandoned one to serve as a link for nations to fly supplies in, and for the rest of our civil engineers to be flown in.

 

We will remain in BW until they are self sufficent with vital and essential systems, then switch control to ether the BW people or another nation still in the land. No need to send a large delegation to Ranke, the conference shall not take more then a day or two.

Alright, how shall we proceed?

The S.S.S.S. would like to submit the following for debate. We would be willing to take control of the southern part of the nation and give control of the northern mainland and small island to Meteorola. We would also like to extend a hand to our friends and allies and hand over quite a large portion of land to Niederoestereich which is mostly unused and untouched land. We also feel that giving them more coastal land will help boost trade and overall their economy. We hope all parties give honest feed back.

Meteorola has no imperial intentions, and we strongly oppose ANY occupaition of BW. This may have once been SSSS territory, but that does not provide for an inherent right to it.

 

Is SSSS attempting to bribe Meteorola and Niederoestereich with land? Why? What is so crucial about the southern parts of Baltirow-Woud? If there is something we should know, Meteorola would hear it now.

 

Meteorola is creating a temporary government in Baltirow-Woud, one comprised of Baltirese officals- no Meteorolans will be part of this government. Our military remains in place.

President Pot is not known for giving addresses on Monday mornings but has called an emergency press conference for early in the AM. As everyone is noisily gathering inside the press room at the Green House it suddenly gets dead silent when President Pot walks into the press room with wartime Generals uniform along with his normal blunt in mouth.

 

"Greetings everyone, I will keep this very, very short as we have some time restraints. I will give you a quick run down of what's going on and then take some questions. The situation with our bothers and sisters in Baltirow-Woud are getting worse every day. We are trying desperately to get them back under the SS flag, were they so want to be. We even went a route that the SS has never taken before and tried to be peaceful, it has failed. A nation called Meteorola is attempting to keep our bothers and sisters from enjoying what the economic power house S.S.S.S. can provide them. We tried unsuccessfully to save grace by offering Meteorola half of the devastated Baltirow-Woud area, but they refused. When they ventured to take the islands off of Baltirow-Woud the SS welcomed them with open arms even if they are not from the island. Now these foreigners want to tell us they oppose an occupation of our own island where our island brothers and sisters live. We want Meteorola to know that we were not trying to 'bribe' anyone but were trying to help our true island brothers and MATA allies out and give them an economical boost by giving more coastal land. We were merely being tolerant when we were going to let you inherit some land where you did not belong anyway."

 

Pot clears his throat and pulls a paper out from the bottom of the stack on top the podium "Meteorola, you have 48 hours to pull any and all personnel out of the former Baltirow-Woud area. The Stoned Smurfs have now officially claimed this land and will take it, by force if necessary, in the next 48 hours. Meteorola is a foreign force attempting to invade and enslave our island brothers. You have been warned, now disperse. OK I will take a few questions now."

 

From a group of reporters Pot starts to points to one and then they ask their question. A blonde female reporter is the first to get called upon.

 

"We all know how you stand on Meteorola, but deos the offer still stand that you made to Niederoestereich?"

 

"Yes, by all means. They are true island brothers just as are all of the brothers and sisters in the former Baltirow-Woud. They are MATA allies and are considered one of the S.S.S.S. stronger allies. Next question please."

 

"Thank you Mr. President. We would like to know if Meteorola does not leave what kind of force will be used to rid the infidels?"

 

"A ground force will be used. The SS is an urban combat trained army anyway so reclaiming cities would be no problem. We also suspect that once this reaches our bothers and sisters in Baltirow-Woud that they will start to fight off the foreigners. We just hope they stay put and let us rid them of these pests so no harm comes to them. Next."

 

"Sir, have their been any military activities already underway or put into place as of yet?"

 

"Yes, massive amounts of troops and equipment are being poured into Cali, Naptown and into the capitol. Indy and Compton are also seeing a small increase. Naval activity has been boosted in Amberly as well, just incase the foreigners refuse to leave. No more questions."

 

The reporters then scramble to let all know of this war like speech.

Meteorola would once again issue the statement that we never had any intentions of remaining in Baltirow-Woud. We entered with the expectation that we would pull out. This blatent show of force by SSSS is a direct result of a lack of communication and a lack of effort put into negotiations by SSSS. We came to disscuss concerns, SSSS came to make demands.

 

The military personell that Meteorola moved into place in Baltirow-Woud, was never intended to fight war, and its numbers reflect that. The troops that were sent over seas were intended only to give aid to people whom lived under a government that crumbled.

 

Today is a sad day in the history of Europa. It is a day in which military and economic motives have attempted to smother those of patience and reason. Meteorola will not recoginze the foriegn occupation of Balirow-Woud by SSSS. Past sovernty over a region does not justify continued claims (ie, England no longer claims the eastern US seaboard, nor does Rome claim most of Europe). We beleive that the rest of Europa will follow suit and not offically recognize SSSS's claim of Baltirow-Woud.

 

At the same time, Meteorola will not go to war for foriegn nationals, unless there is extreme need. This is not such a case. Meteorola will withdraw all troops from Baltirow-Woud and will setup refugee camps on the three islands off the coast of Baltirow-Woud, and will provide transportation for any Baltirowese citizens who seeking refuge. May they one day be able to return to thier native land.

 

We continue to hope that SSSS will return to the higher path of diplomacy. We will always be glad to begin dialoge with SSSS.
