Worldbuilding Music

As someone who always listens to podcasts/music whilst doing anything in life, I also do so whilst worldbuilding/ writing roleplays/ news posts on here. However, I've noticed that there's one particular and very specific thing I almost always listen to when worldbuilding the SSI: East-German socialist music. That made me wonder if y'all have a specific worldbuilding background music and if so if you'd be willing to share.

Nah, although I'm in the liberal/left quarter of the political compass, I'm not a socialist or communist (also these compasses lack a lot of questions that might shift my position considerably). I just like their music, as it is full of hope for a better world, something I think is rare today. For example I think the GDR anthem is way prettier (and more fitting) than the current one, even though I am super glad that the GDR no longer exists.

Oooh, sometimes I also listen to religious music, although I am agnostic.

Oooh @Llalta I know what you mean! My favourites are Jinsei no Merry-Go-Round and that weird macabre song from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. I've also seen @Orioni listen to his Joe Hisaishi Spotify playlist quite a lot on the Discord.  Big fan. Music from My Neighbour Totoro and the new, orchestral versions of the music from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are also near and dear to my heart.

Yesss!!! I love all of them, especially Path of The Wind and Littleroot Town! Something about Joe Hisaishi and other Japanese composer's I just really love.

Hmm. So apparently people do listen to music while writing. It's either just me or my Filipino blood, but I do often find myself singing along to the music instead of working...

I do listen to a lot of different music, but in the past year "Inno del Finanziere" has been the most frequent one.

Seems like @Limonaians are passionate in all their music! I like those two Italian commie songs a lot, although the bilingual (or monolingually German) versions are the prettiest renditions.

I used to be able to do it and then I ended up just being distracted by it.

I tend to play the music from the film Fury when playing the tabletop game Konflikt 47.

I typically try to avoid anything with lyrics because it can be disruptive when I'm trying to think how I want to phrase something or just in general what I want to put down. Lately, I've been fueling my writing with background horror music. I'm not sure why but it really works well with me. Or I'll listen to a very specific artist (Machinedrum) in the electronic sort of genre.

 

I promise I listen to normal people music in my off time 🤪
