Tagmatium Rules
OOC: If you wish to apply for an embassy, please go here. The Skrinion ton Barbaron, the Bureau of Barbarians, is the Diplomatic Service of the Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomanion, the Greater Holy Empire of Arome, commonly known as Tagmatium. Initially part of the Logothesion ton Barbaron, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was eventually seen to need to be a separate organisation of its own, as Tagmatium began to recognise more and more “barbarian” countries as needing to be approached on reciprocal terms, even if the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion may not regard the majority of other nations as truly equal. The Skrinion ton Barbaron's chief diplomat is referred to as the Amytzantarios. The Amytzantarios acts as a link between the diplomatic service and the Agios Basileos kai Autokrator and as a member of the Imperial Cabinet, the Agios Basilikon Vestiarion. The position is currently held by Aetia Toukkiana, who served as the Serene Ambassador to the Royal Court, the title for the ambassador to Orioni, for eighteen years. As such, the Skrinion ton Barbaron is the body that oversees the appointment and maintenance of all the of Tagmatium's diplomats and embassies in foreign nations, and the staff for those embassies and missions. The Skrinion also handles the diplomatic staff of foreign nations within Tagmatium, and will act as their main liaison within the Megas Agios Basileia. All embassies are located within Tagmatika, the capital of Megas Agios Basileia, as this means that they are near to the heart of the centre of civilisation of Eurth. Some are established structures, but a nation may be granted permission to build its own embassy, so long as the architecture remains in keeping with the surrounding area. Depending on the importance of relations with a nation, or the number of its citizens within Tagmatium, a nation may be allowed to establish consulates in other cities across the country. Arhomaneia grants diplomatic immunity to diplomatic and consular staff within its own borders and expects reciprocation of this for its diplomatic and consular staff abroad. This does not include offences that are unrelated to diplomatic activities and certainly does not include avoiding parking tickets – this has often been abused in recent years. Similarly, foreign embassy guards are allowed to carry small arms, although they must seek authorisation from the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion to do so. Ambassadors to Tagmatium are styled as “Ambassadors before the Leopard Throne”, with the exceptions of Adaptus, Orioni and, formerly, Ide Jima, who are styled as “Ambassadors to the Asprotriklinos (the WhiteThrone Room)”.
