This thread serves as a place where all sorts of news from @Oyus or sometimes Oyussa can be found.

La Costa, a reference to the paper being written in Costa Scura, is a less circulated paper, mostly among those who miss the days of Limonaian occupancy in the port town. It has a far more biased, slanted view of things in Oyus and has often been more critical of the indigenous majority regime since the departure of Yulaa as the head of state. for the most part it is a circulation of a weekly print with a website filled with articles for more dedicated readers. Some critics of the paper find that it can border being bigoted towards native Oyusards.

The Yulaa Spectator, while not the oldest news source in Oyus, is the most prominent one. Gaining recognition and popularity much more recently than other domestic news services, the Yulaa Spectator has been ranked as one of the most trusted, respected, and straightforward news outlets. The Spectator is a non-profit, non-governmental entity. Originally limited to just a weekly print, it now has a television network for domestic viewers, one of just three organizations within Oyus to have the capability to broadcast.

National Congress: Sports Management Reform Passes

B6Q0977w.jpg

Critics have noted this a real victory for one of Oyus' most talented teams in years.

YULAA, OYUS -- The many national federations of sports teams and domestic leagues have long been loosely overseen and supervised by the Ministry of Culture. Over the years, sports critics felt the underperformance of the Oyusard teams could be attributed to the lack of a governing body for sports in the country. Vague guidelines and posts held down by interim heads longer than confirmed heads were just some of the reasons cited as to why the management of sports in Oyus was, in fact, due to how loosely managed it was directly by the Ministry of Culture. Former Culture Minister and current Foreign Relations Minister Lili Epol stated that she missed many National Congress sessions, "due to having to juggle so many duties at once" and that at times she was forced to choose what was not going to be done that day.

Now, the Minister of Culture will not have to look to the demanding tasks of sports management as often as before. The Oyusard National Congress passed with great support the creation of the Oyusard Domestic and International Sports Agency, which only has its head appointed by the Minister of Culture while the remainder of the agency is taken care of by the appointed. Long time critics have applauded the passage of the bill and claimed that the future of sports in Oyus is already so bright. "Interim Managers, Interim Coaches, Interim Commissioners... all will be rarities and for the most part a thing of the past." said our own sports columnist, J. Croa.

The calls for a bill like this were especially strong after the Federation of Oyusard Football started that it was unable remain eligible with the lackluster, skeleton crew that held it together. For almost 3 years, the FOF had an Interim Coach that was continually advised and told not to look to make any major changes until a suitable replacement was found. While the talent on the team is not lacking, it has become a burden on its players and the team, something that had shown in their play. It has been sigh of relief as many began to speculate recruitment would begin to be negatively affected by this, too.

A New Oyusard Economic Plan

k69Huq4.png

Tri Hata opening the briefing in a different venue from usual.

YULAA, OYUS -- The Ministry of Foreign Relations' Trade Office walking side by side with the Ministry of Commerce's Global Trade Office have for months now been working on a plan to increase trade for the Oyus Matriarchy. Unlike previous projects, they have been able to keep relatively quiet. They have merely made promises that the trade, regardless of what is imported/exported, will also have trade partners consider Oyus as tourist destination as well. Details had previously not been given. Much like many other projects being conducted by agencies within the national government, only vague details are given leaving experts to speculate plans with nothing concrete. This evening, though, specifics seemed to finally arise when the evening press briefing from the Ministry of Commerce came about.

Dubbed the New Oyusard Economic Plan, it still was a somewhat vague outline, but now with specifics and explanations on the direction forward for the nation. Moves earlier in the day had garnered questions such as an application from the Hani Motors Group to invest hundreds of millions in Argis, and murmurs of the positive business impact from the recently passed Sports Management Reform. Commerce Ministry Press Secretary Tri Hata introduced representatives from the Global Trade Office, who thoroughly explained the goals in mind: "Oyus is a very modern, unique nation that has always been the never ending project that we take pride in." one representative stated. The plan pushes the strong automobile manufacturer in Hani Motors to become a competitive brand with the idea of it growing domestically. With regard to agriculture, exports to those in need of food like fruits (bananas and citrus) is considered a priority as well. The government expects to offer assistance in the form of more relaxed customs policies, monetary, advisory, or other means, pushing these two industries into other markets.

Above all though, they made clear that the sports management reform was key portion to this plan, too. With it's passage, it will allow GTO and the Ministry of Foreign Relations work more directly with sports heads than before. As part of the economic plan, they intend to look to host a continental tournament of some sort to increase awareness of Oyus' natural beauty and ideal tourist destination. Some 375M Talas ($250M) is expected to be poured into a renovation project for Yulaa National Colisseum and its sports district, with an additional 150M talas ($100M) being dropped on modernizing and expanding the domestic transportation network. "As an important piece of our country, we can not afford to neglect it, because it will only hurt us in the hopes growth in tourism." they said to justify the over half a billion talas investment.

The surprising feature of the presentation this evening, though, was perhaps their emphasis of tourism growth with the aforementioned export increase. According to the GTO, in trade talks they look to see that Hani Motors is positioned well to act as an ambassador for Oyus, while the export of quality fruits and agricultural products would paint an ideal picture of Oyus. Some are puzzled considering a sports pitch was a more obvious and flashier play, and answers from the reps still left many there with questions. "It is difficult to explain our strategy when it is not one that really can be, one that only will or will not work. Something that can only be written after the fact."

Treasurer Nominee Interview Continues

mgytuu4.jpg

Sinta Veda took the stand again this morning before MCs

YULAA, OYUS -- In the two session interview process for the filling of the Treasurer post, MCs questioned the nominee on her views on the recently unveiled plan. It was pretty clear that she would be asked this, as before today's session the Deputy of Revenue said he would not ask them but he was well aware of other colleagues that would. The interview process of this post is perhaps the most thorough any given post has gotten in years. Many blame the previous Treasurer's corruption conviction as the reason why. Vaovaohitra native and political science professor of the University of Vaovaohitra Sri Goy told the Spectator that "corruption isn't something that is often seen here. It has led to a more cautious process, understandably so."

Sinta Veda, an economics professor from the University of Costa Scura, used to be a junior executive for Hani Motors before deciding that teaching was her life-not the money she could have earned. While Veda herself has not been criticized, Kera Eka Lam has been for not considering a safer choice. Many state that despite the fact that Veda has no obvious ties, there will always be suspicion thrown upon her that she may have ties to Hani Motors and help them in manners not sanctioned by the government. These critics believe that having constant doubts throughout their tenure would only bring them back to another interview process sooner than later. Supporters, though, have said that this is an overreaction to her would be predecessor's conviction, a former banking executive of the New Bank of Yulaa. "It is important to note that the suspicions of being some sort of executive automatically equating to a higher likelihood of corruption can be very misplaced." a fellow professor, who wished to remain anonymous, told us.

Despite all the noise, though, Kera Eka Lam has remained optimistic and is sure that through all the cautionary process that she made the right choice in Veda. Throughout social media, she has given support to her nominee more noticeably than any past appointees made by her. A spokesperson explained in this morning's briefing from the Kera's Office that never has there been so much scrutiny. The spokesperson further asserted that if doubt were to quickly end the tenure of this prospective treasurer that the National Congress may need to look itself in the mirror. Overall, while some theatrics seemed to be on display, it remains to be seen what will ultimately happen.

Oyusard Government: Aluxian Refugees Will Be Accepted

Bogota%20-%20Palacio%20de%20Justicia.jpg

YULAA, OYUS -- As a civil war erupts in the Aluxian Empire, Foreign Relations Minister Lili Epol stated that the decision to revise visa policy  for Aluxians was one she was not hesitant about. The Free Aluxian Army, a pro-democracy rebel faction had claimed a bombing attack from two months ago, which ended the lives of seventy-two. The Ministry of Foreign Relations will now prioritize refugee applications from Aluxia, while a review in the government's view and stance towards the current situation in Aluxia is carried out. Epol stated that the Ministry of Foreign Relations will ensure to the best of its ability that Oyusard citizens and permanent residents are not in harm's way, pledging to aid them in every possible way.  "The safety and security of not only Oyusards, but foreigners alike, is paramount in a state like Aluxia, where civil war exists. We can not assume that either side will be able to ensure  and guarantee the safety of citizens from abroad. This is not to say that reasonable efforts will not be made, which will always be commended." Epol said in this evening's briefing from the Foreign Relations Ministry.

The government however would not speak on their stance and view of the autocratic regime in Aluxia, citing their review as on-going and only having just started. Merseca Plaza Press Secretary Yuli Paoa deflected questions on the matter, often referring them to the Ministry of Foreign Relations for most inquiries on the situation in Aluxia. However, when asked on their expectation of the civil war some substance was given "The Oyusard National Government does not, at this time, pledge support to either side in a war that is not ours to decide. We are saddened that Aluxia has descended into this unfortunate circumstance, but Kera Eka Lam will not support either side even verbally. It is our hope that this conflict can be resolved quickly, and that no further damage is inflicted, no more blood than necessary is shed."

Lili Epol & Oyus' Diplomatic Mission To Begin

cristine-reyes-ce9ee702-057d-451f-b80c-b

Minister Lili Epol sat at a policymaking forum for the University of Morlavitra earlier this week.

YULAA, OYUS -- This morning, the Office of the Kera reminded the National Congress that it intended to establish substantive, and strong friendly relations with various sovereign states. Merseca Square had recommended several individuals as permanent representatives serving in the role as ambassadors to a variety of nations. Minister of Foreign Relations Lili Epol told reporters that many of the names she personally supported herself and expects that many of them will go through reviews done as more of a formality than anything else. Many of the names recommended and endorsed by Merseca Square are for offices newly created by a Keral Proclamation, which currently lays out vague guidelines. Sources say there is a full expectation that the proclamation has been written so that the National Congress is forced to address this in a formalization path of the proclamation rather than a stand alone Keral law.

The mass appointment of ambassadors to new offices all of a sudden is so that they are able to acclimate and adjust to a position that, until recently, has only ever employed three individuals at a time, and a total of five having served. They would be joining the likes of a vocal and prolific diplomat in Ambassador Kayleigh Hani, the Ambassador to Gallambria. Despite appointment of a great amount of individuals to a greatly expanded field, the Foreign Minister's duties are only to increase and a real workload is anticipated. "This was always a part of the plan. The appointment of the current Minister of Foreign Relations had many questions in her interview process to ensure that the ultimate goal of adding more to their plate was achievable. It was an expectation that we knew her predecessor was not capable of, unfortunately." Eka Lam said this morning.

Epol has already begun making a mark, when the Ministry concurred with the National Congress on the matter of Aluxia, where they declined to choose a side in the civil war in finalizing their review of the Oyusard stance towards Aluxia's imperial government. Humanitarian aid has been promised to the country and is expected to be formally offered soon, while a quickly confirmed appointee settles in to oversee the limited diplomatic mission within Aluxia. Epol has made clear that she intends to be far more outward reaching than any of her predecessors combined. "Outreach to other like minded nations is paramount, I feel." she said to spectators at a forum at the University of Morlavitra earlier this week.

Championship Week 2018 Brighter Than Ever

150529-F-ZT877-502.JPG

The festivities have already begun in some parts of the country, like Morlavitra, even though the week doesn't start for another two days.

MORLAVITRA, OYUS -- The Oyusard Championship Week is set to begin this weekend and run until the following Friday, with the championships of the Big Three sports leagues in Oyus: The Oyusard Baseball Domestic League (OBDL), The Oyus Gold League, and the Oyus New Football League. Although each sport plays their regular season at different points of the year, it doesn't end until the final month of the year. A standing tradition for two decades now, it is one that the populace are rather fond of.

This year there is great excitement around the OBDL's Championship series, as it is the second year a franchise with a history of poor play has fond itself above the pack and poised to take home it's first Comissioner's Cup. The Morlavitra Hurricane still finds itself an underdog against the Marbodo Commodores, the latter of which has win the West Division title for the past 10 years straight, not to mention the Commodores strong season. The Commodores are coming into the Championship series off a season with the second best league win percentage, .619, compared to The Hurricane's .523. Despite this, many in Morlavitra are confident in their team's ability to beat a proven league champ, looking to the team's close win over the league's best team: Vaovaohitra's Horses. The Championship Series games have been scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and if need be, Friday of the week - with the Commodores holding home field advantage for better league play.

The City of Morlavitra continues to enjoy great hope in the week with the entrance of their futbol team in Morlavitra FC, to the Oyus Gold Cup Final, it's first time too. While Morlavitra FC typically shows itself as strong, it struggled in a year where other teams proved to be more competitive: only one team in the league this year had more wins than draws or losses, Krutamon FC. Unfortunately, they quickly made an exit in a 2-1 loss to Morlavitra's Gold Cup Final opponent in Bayside United. The Gold Cup Final will be played on Thursday to cap off Championship Week's second most popular league final.

Over the Horizon: Lam, Epol Visit the Sunset Sea Islands

672d61dfca3eac7f5203c14777c986a4.jpg

Lam spoke earlier this week and this morning on some specifics about the meeting to the Merseca Square Press Corps.

YULAA, OYUS -- In a historic moment for not only the Oyus Matriarchy, but the country's long history, a sitting Oyusard head of state will meet with a major global player today. The delegation is set to include Kera Eka Lam, Foreign Minister Lili Epol, Ambassador to the SSI Tai Lubis, and, most curiously, Ambassador to Gallambria Kayleigh Hani. While no reason has been given as to the presence of the most senior of Ambassadors within the Ministry of Foreign Relations, Merseca Square has stated that it was not that much of a deal. The Lam Administration also named a variety of topics expected to be discussed during this meeting, but conveniently did not acknowledge one of great relevance: the Manamana Canal.

Per an anonymous source in Merseca Square, the Kera hopes to discuss the matter of the canal's construction with the SSI's Prime Minister and potentially involving Oyus. Economists domestic and foreign alike seemed to have universally agreed on one thing regarding the canal: the benefits that the Oyus Matriarchy and people would only reap from its opening. With close proximity to what will likely be an increase of sea traffic, it would be a missed opportunity to remain quiet with regard to the canal. The most conservative of forecasts have only shown positivity.

Merseca Square was quick to point out that the diplomatic initiative taken by Minister Lili Epol is already producing results with this meeting. The Communications Office suggested that more meetings are highly probable with a success in this one, with eyes towards Alharu and Argis. "We think that the meeting with the Sunset Sea Islands will give us momentum to strut across the globe and open up relations with more countries, and even see another wave of ambassador posts created and appointments." the Communications Chief told the Spectator on the steps of the National Congress. While no one specific has been mentioned as to what comes after the SSI meeting, whispers have indicated looking to a closer neighbor such as @Rihan or @Kirvina, or someone further beyond in Alharu like @Variota or @Fulgistan

Aurelians On The IslesIMG_20190206_012834.jpgFrom Top Left to Bottom: Vaovaohitra Stadium, Hani Center, Morlavitra Municipal Stadium, and the Bank of Yulaa Stadium.

YULAA, OYUS -- Merseca Square's first major announcement in the new year came early in the second month. The newly formed and refined Ministry of Sports & Recreation Wednesday had long been waiting to make the formal announcement. The Ministry had been rather silent with most details of the cup either being leaked or obtained from the official press office of SATAMFC, an out of character behavior for an Oyusard body. Often, leaks would be denied until confirmed otherwise. Prior, there was some concern that the closer to the anticipated date of the cup, the more likely that perhaps the tournament was still left with many questions. Despite the setbacks and concerns from foreign parties the Oyusard Football Federation in conjunction with the Ministry called a press conference to formally announce the 2019 Aurelian Cup.

Kaleo Guz, the inaugural Minister, announced that the Aurelian Cup would be hosted this year from March 26th to April 6th, in line with leaks from a week earlier that the cup would not be stretched out to a third week under advisement of the National Tourism Studies Association. "While it is a major tournament, we can not be greedy. Two weeks is ample enough for visitors to enjoy and the country to benefit." Guz stated, citing the leaked report. The running costs of the tournament of most concern were the increased transportation and security costs to municipalities, even during off days during the active cup.

The venues were also announced, a peculiar group chosen by the Ministry: Yulaa's Bank of Yulaa Stadium, the second largest stadium in the country with oceanviews; Vaovaohitra's namesake in Vaovaohitra Stadium, the largest and oldest stadium still in operation; Morlavitra's fully public owned Municipal Stadium; and Alamangina's newly constructed Hani Center, expected to see the most use throughout the tournament. The Ministry touted these four stadiums as providing the most amenities to visitors and fans from across the continent, with two of the venues being updated presently.

The tournament is expected to host eight nations who have already been informed and invited, the vast majority being apart of Aurelia proper, and a couple being invitees. Groups were chosen before the press producing an even handed Group A and B:

The groups are expected to play out from March 26th to March 30th, letting the knockout portion of the tournament roll through the first week of April with March 31st and April 1st without a match to be played.

COSTA SCURA, OYUS -- Shipping magnate and vocal futurist has revealed plans approved by the National Congress for him to construct the foundations of a new municipality. "Majesty Bay," as dubbed by its financier, is set to be a center of multiculturalism. There are plans to have blocks set aside for various cultures from Eurth, near and far. Citing projections that Oyus will be a hot spot for growth and international investment, the town will be constructed and funded by his fortune in full. "We simply can not squander an opportunity, this will truly draw in the crowd we need." he told the media. Renderings show that this would be Oyus' most ambitious project yet, and thankfully not with government funding if it goes south.

Acona Palace Appoints A New Hand
original
Kol Tala was the first male to be Her Excellency's Assistant in Stately Matters

YULAA, OYUS -- Since the retirement of the previous Kera's Hand, the National Congress' default presiding officer was the Minister of Foreign Relations or the Ambassador to Oyusard Allies or the Kera herself. Many speculated the past few years that Kera would cede the powers she held over the appointment to the National Congress, though no serious discussion has ever come far. In a surprising announcement from Acona Palace, Speculation has been quashed as the Kera publically announced the appointment of a new Hand.

Kol Tala, a 36 year-old lawyer specializing in constitutional disputes has been named by Kera Eka to the post. Tala would be the youngest individual to hold the post and the first male to be appointed to it. A similar record is held by him when he was appointed as Her Excellency's Assistant in Stately Matters, the first male to ever be hold the position. Tala's close friendship with Kera Eka is perhaps the chief reason for his appointment. While many believed him to take a role with more responsibility close to Acona Palace, none expected him to be appointed to the country's de facto second most powerful post.

Kera Eka told the public that as the Matriarchy continued to grow and participate more in the international stage, herself and Minister Lili Epol would not be able to preside over the National Congress' sessions often enough and that it was time for the vacancy to be filled. "Domestic goals must continue being met and pushed forward while we participate in the international community. This is no longer just my job or Minister Epol's, and it calls for more helping hands." the Palace Press Secretary said in the daily morning briefing, echoing the Kera's announcement from the previous evening.

Another Unholy Murder Near Holy Shore

inline_image_preview.jpg?auto=compress,f

HOLY SHORE, OYUS -- Yulaa Capital Police officers and detectives were awaken at dawn this morning after a call was made by a couple taking an early stroll. A body would be found 5 miles from The Holy Shore. Capital Police would not comment other than to confirm that the body recovered at the scene was that of a male sex worker that had gone missing some weeks ago from Yulaa Beach.

It has been nearly 15 years since the last body of the Unholy Massacre occurred back in 2005. With details disclosed from a source that does not have the authority to speak on these matters, it appears that this would be continuation of it after its dormancy. Suspicions were raised two days earlier when a first body was found not far from the current location of the latest one, found to be killed by being forcibly drowned. If proven by evidence, it could lead to opening up for a likely nasty trial. It would also mean that the suspected body count of the Luxites amounts to approximately 52 dead.

In 2006, when evidence finally narrowed down the suspects to be Luxites led by one 'Arch-patriarch' Gianni Raga, they refused to testify or cooperate. They were eventually found to be not guilty of any of the Unholy Massacre murders due to inconclusive evidence. Raga was quick to proclaim that it was the work of Alon and Acona proving that Lux would not win the day.

Updates will be provided as they come in.

Five Years of Peace

bigstock-White-pigeon-flying-with-open-103382996.jpg
On the anniversary of the peace accords that were made five years ago, we retell the story.

MORLAVITRA, OYUS -- Five years ago, the most anti-climactic end to what amounted as a decades long exchange of "dicy" skirmishes. The separatist group that claimed the southern isle of Oyus for its own unrecognized state and little actual power over it agreed to end it's campaign against the Matriarchy. It was a monumental moment for those in the south as there were always concerns the group would become more aggressive and be supported by outside governments against the Matriarchy. At last, there was certainty.

The peace deal was concocted by the then newly assigned Chief of Morlavitra's National Police chapter. According to him, it was clear that with the ouster of their own leader that they recognized that their mission was ineffective and not a sympathetic one among those foreign or domestic. Calling for a ceasefire and offering comfortable beds on his own dime (though later reimbursed by the Kera) to the separatists, he made quick inroads with them. "Forefeiting their small cache of weapons and willingly coming home seemed most sensible. What few people that did become swayed by them were losing faith and felt alone." the Chief stated in a recent interview with us on the subject.

The terms laid out by the chief were simple: forfeit the physical conflict and reintegrate into society in return for allowing the Commune to reform into the sole party permitted by the Matriarchy: The Communist Party of Oyussa Not only would they be allowed into the National Congress in a decade, but they would also receive a small fund to start up their party. Only one term truly seemed harsh in any way: the imprisonment of their recently ousted leader. It was also one quickly agreed to in what amounted to a peace talk of a no more than a handful of hours. Over the following weeks after amends were made, the National Police announced that the newly founded CPO had complied with every term of the accords.

While the group made quick efforts to hand over their stockpile and move their small remote village folk to Morlavitra and beyond, the biggest sticking point was what took the announcement so long to make. the ex-Secretary General of the former Southern Commune after his ouster had ventured out into the tropical landscape of the island resulting in a manhunt for two weeks. His ouster was a brutal one. Commune members had grown restless with the lack of momentum and growth in their mission imploring him to revise strategy. Instead, their fearless leader chose to stay the course and was thrown out in due time having served as the leader for three decades. Today, he regrets everything and laments that he should have listened to "my proletariat" and reached out to end the conflict long ago before they came to him.

It remains to be seen whether the CPO can sway enough Oyusards to their side. To their credit, when revelations came out of the corruption of the previous Treasurer, numbers "soared" from a measly couple hundred to a curious couple thousand, mostly found in Morlavitra. Perhaps they will be a voice for the people in another five years if their leadership remains focused on more feasible and sensible goals as they seem to have done thus far.

A Foreign Throne of Stone?

hacker-leaks-passwords-for-5-lakh-internet-connected-devices.jpg

YULAA, OYUS -- A fruitful reign for the Kera has still left questions about her succession, intensifying in more recent times given the proximity to the 20th anniversary of her ascension. It is one of the few matters that the Kera receives harsh criticism, and with a new revelation it may only continue to be harsh. In secret the Kera has been evidently communicating with other leaders and ministers on the matter, too.

This morning, a hacker from @Kirvina posted an authenticated telegram from the Kera of Oyus distributed to some leaders across the world on the subject of her heir. It emphasized the search for an heir foreign born, confusing many as to why. "It almost seems like Oyusards aren't adequate - a real slap in the face if you ask me." a citizen remarked. In addition to the hacker’s leak, another leak from within the Matriarchy released details of discussions with @Variota, @Salvia and @Tagmatium Rules with varied responses. Constitutional scholars have been quick to note that it is unlikely that anyone can oppose the Kera’s decision to adopt a foreign child as a future heir, especially on a legal basis. The current constitution does not explicitly prohibit adoption, either. In fact, the power entrusted in the Kera is rather broad and vague which would allow the Kera to go great lengths without any legal objection. The public’s disappointment has been overwhelmingly clear.

In response to the public the Kera’s Hand, Kol Tala, released a statement that put to rest any furthering of the Kera’s search for an heir until some analyzing and discussion is made with members from the National Congress. “It is certainly one thing to have the choice of not bearing children and another to skip over our own people for a future leader. It is a decision we most certainly regret and will learn from in the future.” Tala remarked on social media.

The End Of The Scandal? Meet Margherita Luisi

Alex.jpg

YULAA, OYUS -- The first major scandal to haunt the sitting Kera more than any other has seemingly come to a close, albeit with some newfound disdain towards the monarch. The revelation that the government had been seeking to resolve the long standing question of who would ascend the Stone Throne with a foreign child not born by the Kera was a troubling one for many, including the staunchest of the Kera's supporters. It raised questions and concerns as to why the populace of Oyus would be so quickly overlooked even if constitutional scholars and lawyers asserted it is not illegal due to the vague and broad brushed document that reigns the country. While the following days will still have whispers and discussion about the ill-fated move, the Kera's Office has ended it following an official statement.

According to it, prior to the revelation the Hand was informed of a possible secret heir designated by Kera Yulaa in the event her successor could not arrange one of their own, or until they could. Announcement of this was delayed to verify the authenticity which had come back to be true. The Kera and Crown Princess met some time after the breaking of the revelation to media outlets to be informally crowned as the heir to the throne while an official ceremony is expected to be carried out within the week to quiet critics further and allow the Kera to consider things carefully and look to other matters until the dust had settled from this scandal. "It was a mistake that understandably many will have difficulty forgiving her for and has overwhelmed her for letting her people down." The Hand said in the morning briefing, explaining that eventually this search will become domestic when it is picked back up and that "the emergency heir" is merely a Yulaa sanctioned solution for the interim.

Margherita Luisi, the new Crown Princess of Oyus, is to be made official in the next few days. She told the Spectator that she hopes to serve the government and the people of Oyus to the best of her ability and lift some of the load of governing off the Kera's shoulders so she can eventually focus on raising the next leader of Oyus and only have to be the decider in crucial, critical decisions. Princess Margherita is the daughter of the late Ernesto Luisi, head of the Luisi Group based in Costa Scura. The Luisi family is one that was well acquainted with Yulaa in her days as the Kera. It makes sense a family that she spent much time and often collaborated with would be entrusted as a sorts of guardian of the government in the worst case scenario. The Luisi family is also known to be positive force for the inhabitants of Costa Scura, often bucking I'll conceived policy proposals likely to hurt their people.

National Congress Passes Ceris Rescue Act of 2020 Amid Hiatus

palace-772861.JPG

YULAA, OYUS -- Despite being slated to be on hiatus, the National Congress set aside a day to pass legislation in relation to the Ceriser Crisis. While it has been on-going for some time now, it grew wider attention from MCs when a report of a Sentist attack circulated. In a security meeting last night, the unofficial Security Council discussed at great length potential involvement with boots on the ground. This, however, received sharp criticism from the Matriarchy and was quickly dismissed to adjourn the meeting and make a final decision the lengths the Matriarchy is willing to go for Ceris.

In the Ceris Rescue Act of 2020 passed just moments ago, the typical Oyusard aid package was seen all over. The Matriarchy would allow those applying for asylum or as refugees special priority. A key difference from previous packages on this matter is a last minute revision in which all asylum seekers and refugees would be given the same look at. Previously, the Matriarchy gave preference to families, single women, and orphaned children. The Matriarchy would also be contributing funds to Ceriser governments that have yet to receive an ounce of help in this troubling time for them. "The National Congress' vacation can wait, but the people of Ceris cannot. We will do everything in our power to ensure fewer are disproportionately affected by this unfortunate tragedy" Crown Princess Margherita stated to the media.

Double Trouble: As One Scandal Fades, Two Arise.

ywHnOtU.png

YULAA, OYUS -- It was as though the leaks were coordinated and orchestrated by a force of opposition in a realm with seemingly none. In new leaks from the Ministry of Foreign Relations, it is revealed that the meeting between the Radiant Republic and the Matriarchy consisted of interest in the Synapse system. Ambassador to Gallambria Kayleigh Hani allegedly broached the subject in the meeting and pushed it heavily. These details being released only hours after a disgruntled former junior executive fled the country and published several documents proving secret accounts from a variety of businessmen and Oyusard officials with details of various transactions. It was no secret many wealthy individuals from around the world used Oyus as an offshore tax haven and took advantage of an industry that helps fund the national government, currently being dubbed "The Pearl Conspiracy"

The National Congress, still on hiatus, has been rendered powerless by the Kera's Office after the pair of revelations coming to late, with Crown Princess Margherita stating that their hiatus is no longer definite until a proper internal investigation is made. It was a very quick response, though with no statement from the Kera herself and having already been seemingly missing from the national scene. Aside from the shuttering of the government's deliberative body, the government response has been a quiet and nonexistent one with press briefings no longer scheduled and a virtual shut out of all media public and private until further notice.

Around the time of the meeting there had been discussion of potentially further modernizing-futurizing as one document put it-Yulaa and later Oyus as a whole by having a system that is described similarly to Synapse. Original pitches came including bringing in foreign programmers and developers or building it solely with domestic resources. It was Hani who had made the dramatic push to consider Synapse in addition to also potentially reap its benefits in being able to watch over public spaces that could be targets for criminals. The government's planned defence, per Hani's documents, would be that it would promote not only a more integrated society but loosen the National Police to focus on more important matters. However, privacy activists have quickly criticized the government's plans putting any potential plan to implement it likely impossible.

"We do have the right to privacy, and even considering Synapse seems to give me the idea that our government is being bought." a Professor from the Oyussa National College said. Comments like these have become numerous on social media platforms and in newly sprouted protests in front of the Acona Palace and the National Congress.

Barricades and a swarm of National Police currently occupy the perimeter of one of the most high profile banking institutions in Oyus: The Oyussard Fidelity Bank. A disgruntled former junior executive has fled the country and published several documents proving secret accounts details of various transactions. This coming after the government had asserted that it had turned the corner with corruption. The government had allegedly rooted out the former treasurer and potential ties he had with a new one to start fresh at the end of 2018. However, this may not be the case. While the treasurer and his deputies were rooted out, the corruption problem has been exposed as far more widespread with the “Pearl Conspiracy” in which minor officials from other countries have generally influenced Oyusard policy. In one instance, a businessman with interests in Haruspex wrote a check to the Director of the National Revenue Agency around the time the director notably took to the floor to dissuade her colleagues from looking to the exodus of Christians in the Occident. Several more instances like these exist, foreign and domestic.

“We demand that we have reform now.” one protestor said, “The Kera has failed us. The National Congress has failed us. This must be rectified.” Protestors have gathered outside the National Congress and Acona Palace using megaphones and picket signs to make their voices heard as the populace has become visibly frustrated and has lost faith in the government. In a new poll conducted by PBCO, a near consensus has stated they have lost faith in the government. In that same poll, respondents also stated they thought massive reform would be necessary. While the government may be silent, the people most certainly are not.

The Portman's Daily

'Ascencionally' Sacked

The streets were silent tonight. We can all rejoice now that the new Queen of Oyussa has come to power. Gone with the old and in with the new. Queen Maisie of Oyussa has said that for the foreseeable future she will be watching over our country after her predecessor became incapacitated with no timetable as to her return. If we are being frank, hopefully it is never as it is crystal clear to us that Eka Lame could not lead this country right. She went insane because of some scandals! She was never fit to be a leader, it is a good thing her mom had that foresight to get a backup.

Maisie wasted absolutely no time after taking the crown. She dispensed with the title of Kera, claiming that it wouldn’t be right to take it as someone who was never intended to actually rule. Let’s be honest here, it’s stupid. Queen is just fine. Our glorious new Queen then announced that the National Congress would be dissolved. At last, a real solution. The National Congress was just an elitist circle-jerk that no one asked for. At least Yulaa knew what she was doing. Eka? Yeah, no. She explained to everyone that she intends to press corruption charges against those involved in the Pearl Conspiracy and quickly granted the noble junior exec. Immunity from any wrong doing for his service to the betterment of the nation. Who knew we could have a leader that isn’t cold? I’d like to point out that Foreign Minister Lili Epol did not lose her job, either.

We are in for a treat folks. This whole “let the natives rule” shebang is over and done with. Enough is enough. This is our country, too. They invited our parents and grandparents here. They can’t be mad when we decide to take matters into our own hands from here out. We will have someone who gets it with us. I’ve also heard that she’s going to eventually make us into a sweet sweet democracy. Cry all you want. The ANF can riot, it won’t matter. This Oyussard experiment has gone awry and with this new gal pal in power, we are on the winning side now.

CPO Officer Haja Tiady Appointed As Southern Secretaryspacer.png

MORALAVITRA, OYUS -- On an isle that saw lots of back and forth with a rebellious organization in the now known as the Communist Party of Oyus, the isle’s newest executive was a prolific leader within. Haja Tiady has been tapped to replace the seat made vacant after Maisie Alcorn’s ascension as the monarch of Oyus. Tiady was the lead negotiator for the CPO several years ago when the Matriarchy called for peace between the two factions. It is another example of Alcorn’s impression on the Matriarchy after having cleared house with the National Congress. It is also one of the few appointments Alcorn has made of indigenous ascent as opposed to the largely foreign-descent slate of newcomers in leadership.

Secretary Tiady has stated that he intends to champion Alcorn’s vision for Oyus in Morlavitra and the south, looking to make their voices louder in the government halls of Yulaa. “There has long been a disconnect between Yulaa and the south, and it is important the south is included in these conversations.” This has been the common talking point among Alcorn’s appointees and Alcorn herself: Oyus has been left behind by Yulaa and is a direct reason why corruption grew. Queen Maisie has gone on record to say the reforms to come will be an overhaul long overdue for Oyus and that there will be more inclusion across the nation for the better. While Tiady would not comment on whom he intended to choose to make up his advisory team in the south, the incoming secretary hinted that there would likely be more CPO influence with the approval of the Queen, despite not necessitating such consent.

In a poll conducted by the Spectator, it was found that a majority in Moralavitra approved of the appointment while responses were more mixed in the rest of the isle. Those against it have concerns as to why the CPO are so quickly trusted after having only recently made peace with the Matriarchy. “I don’t have a problem with their ideas, I have a problem with their past.” one local resident told us.

The following is a published letter in the press in relation to A Fox's Affliction.

Published the Morning of May 29th, 2021 in the Yulaa Spectator and Portman's Daily

From the Desk of Commissary General Charles Metcalf of the @Great Anglian Commissariat of Mesothalassa

From this day forth, the Kingdom of Fearannteth is no more and shall cease to exist. The pathetic excuse known as a government in Fearannteth has collapsed in on itself. It stood on a weak foundation, lacked true leadership. It has failed its citizens. So far their star has fallen from their greatest height, you would be excused for not believing they were capable of fielding the greatest army the Adisi had seen. No more shall House Cassie, a failed House, continue to reign. From henceforth, the Great Anglian Commissariat of Mesothalassa shall begin and oversee the improvement and betterment of the daily lives of the Fearann people - Anglian peoples.

May this communication serve as a formal notice to neighbors (@Metztlitlaca, @Eulycea, Yeosan via @Fulgistan, @San Castellino, @Kertosono) friendly and hostile alike: transgressions tolerated by the previous regime will be met with the fire and fury of her fleet, the likes of which have never been seen before. Gone are the days of their token sell swords and pathetic gunboats. Further, any attempts to disrupt Anglian affairs will be met with a greater amount of force without warning or notice. We welcome those willing to cooperate for the greater prosperity of Eurth rather than dabble in geopolitics and play white knight because you believe to have the high ground. Opposition to the Empire would be a grave error and the beginning of your undoing.

Signed,

Charles Metcalf III
Commissary General of Great Anglian Mesothalassa

OOC: I have chosen to publish this, more personalized and indirect communication in the Oyusard press as opposed to foreign relations desks as basically to illustrate Anglia's unwillingness to further acknowledge those who have essentially already begun to oppose them like LAANN.
