"Well they certainly do have that Aroman flair to them," King Aidan said putting down the report from the Adaptan declaration. "I don't know if I like the idea of an Adaptan fleet roaming around so close to our waters in the name of liberty and justice."

With the King was Brigadier Kendrick, Admiral Forrest, and all of his top level ministers. The Minister of Defense, Neville Avice, decided to speak up, "Your Majesty I don't believe that @Adaptus is in anyway an actual threat to Seylos, however I think it may be advantageous for us to join in on the blockade in some limited form. I suggest that we deploy the First Fleet in support of the Adaptan mission, if anything to make sure that our presence is known and so we can an easy eye on their fleet movements in the region."

Aidan nodded thinking for a moment, "How many ships are in the First Fleet?"

"Approximately twenty two ships your Majesty, including the HMS Defiant. For a blockade action against a foreign nation I would suggest we bolster that force with an additional ten armed patrol vessels to cover a larger effective area."

"Agreed, Minister Avice, your thoughts?"

"I agree with this assessment your Majesty."

"Your Majesty, if I may," a man in the back slightly raised his hand, the Minister of Foreign Relations Geoffrey Tatum. "While we can undertake this mission I believe we should limit our current scope of operations to only slave ships. We can't be certain of the rest of the world's opinion of Seylos seizing ships left and right that appear to be heading to Greater Serbia."

Aidan stood up, soon followed by everyone else in the room, "Well then I agree with Minister Tatum as well. Admiral, I would like you get get our forces ready and on the way as soon as possible. Minister Tatum, please draft a statement concerning our intentions. Let's all hope this goes well."

KINGDOM OF SEYLOS

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN RELATIONS

To: @Adaptus, @Greater Serbia, Nations of Argis and Nations of Alharu

The Royal Fleet of Seylos has been committed to policing actions in support of the Adaptan blockade against the nation of Greater Serbia.

As such, the Royal Navy has been instructed to search any ships with destinations bound for trading ports used by Greater Serbia, however it will only seize any vessels confirmed to be loaded with slaves. Slavery is a disgusting practice that must be removed from the world like the blight that it is. Seylos will not tolerate the shipment of human beings in or around its waters or its allies. Leading this humanitarian mission will be Admiral Forrest, commander of the Seylosian First fleet, with the aircraft carrier HMS Defiant.

We sincerely hope that other nations will join in this endeavor to stamp out the slave trade once and for all.

''So, what am I doing here?''
''Well, as you may remember from orientation, Foorste Frauwe, this is your office.''
''Don't bullsh*t me, Reemy. I know it's my office. Why am I here, in my office, at this time?''
''We want you to pronounce that het Huisselant will participate in the Adapton action and sanction Greater Serbia.''
''For?''
''Slavery.''
"'Oh, for sure. Hold on, let me get a bit closer to you for the show. Hold on, hold on.''

Dina Diva scurried closer to Reemy Loopentlant, grabbing him by the side with her left arm as her cameraman re-positioned so that it would look good on camera. After getting an okay from him, Dina Diva began her speech.

''As you may have heard from my homeboy over here, Reemy, we have...''
''...Minister Loopentlant.''
''What?''
''Minister Loopentlant, not Reemy.''
''Relax. So I'm here with my homeboy, Easy R, and we have to talk about a serious topic. Slavery. It's not nice, it's not nostalgic or romantic because some people did it two thousand years ago. You suck if you own another human being unless it's in some kinky relationship. Don't kinkshame, people, that's bad too. But yeah, slavery is bad. Worse. Greater Serbia is a nation where slavery is a real thing, a nation like that should not exist. Today, we have decided to sanction their asses. Let those people go!''
''Yeah, no. We have an official speech ready for you and a different cameraman.''
''Oh.''

Official statement from the joint leaders of Het Huisselant

Today, at 10:48, the Variotan Parliament voted in favour of joining the Adapton initiative of sanctioning the vile state known as Greater Serbia. All chambers of Het Hart have unanimously voted in favour and requisite laws have been put in place within the Variotan State, the Kerke fan'es Huisselant, the Unie fan Kommunes and the Klan Reierfer Gebiet. Het Huisselant's sanctions on Greater Serbia have been declared as follows:

  • All merchant vessels within Variotan ports carrying Greater Serbian goods, goods going towards Greater Serbia, flying Greater Serbian colors or belonging to Greater Serbian companies, both public and private in nature, shall have 48 hours to leave Het Huisselant's waters or may, at no further penalty, forfeit said goods or said vessel. Crew members of vessels forfeited are guaranteed safe passage to their home country or, in the case of Greater Serbian citizens, to a nation near Greater Serbia.
  • Goods not belonging to or going towards Greater Serbia but merely transported by Greater Serbian ships that have been forfeited, may be claimed by providing legal documentation and paying a release fee determined at thirty-three percent of the value of the goods as determined by taxation experts belonging to the Variotan tax agency. Goods may also be forfeited with Het Huisselant providing compensation established at forty-five percent of the value of the goods for companies seated in ATARA members nations and nations participating in sanctions against Greater Serbia and forty percent for companies seated in any and all other nations.
  • Merchant vessels flying Greater Serbian colors or owned by Greater Serbian companies that enter Variotan ports after the initial 48 hours shall be deemed, declared and established as forfeited by Het Huisselant. Crew members of such vessels are guaranteed safe passage to their home country or, in the case of Greater Serbian citizens, temporarily detained as persona non grata until sanctions are lifted. All crew members will temporarily be detained as persona non grata until sanctions are lifted. Het Huisselant guarantees safe treatment at a level similar to regular detainees.
  • Variotan territorial waters and the Keelpijppassage will be closed to any and all Greater Serbian military naval vessels, effective immediately. Het Huisselant guarantees that this person will receive treatment similar to other terrorists.
  • Vessels carrying Greater Serbian goods after the initial 48 hours are required to forfeit said goods, at no further penalty, or risk fines up to 500% of the estimated value of all cargo on the vessel. Additionally to the fine, vessels with Greater Serbian goods shall not be allowed to leave port with said goods until sanctions are lifted.

Greater Serbian citizens are temporarily detained as persona non grata until sanctions are lifted. Het Huisselant guarantees safe treatment at a level similar to regular detainees.

  • All buildings owned wholly or in which a Greater Serbian government, business or citizen holds a majority share will have their earnings frozen. This includes but is not limited to rent gained. This will be held in a special account at the Variotan National Bank, to be released to claimholders minus a small holding fee once sanctions have ended.
  • All businesses within Het Huisselant owned wholly or in which a Greater Serbian government, business or citizen holds a majority share will have their earnings frozen. • All profits gained through these actions will be given to charities in order to counterbalance the evil maintained through these goods and transportation methods.

19:43, Serbia time, Mount Triglav facility

A day had passed and so the Chancellor left Beograd for Mount Triglav facility, the secret and hidden headquarters of the Department of National Safety in the Region of Vojvodina. There, he went through the many secretive checkpoints not openly visible and too subtle for the untrained eye. Once in the tunnel leading to the massive blast doors and barricades staffed with numerous guards, the leader exited the car with his trusty sidearm on his belt, and the always-ready White Eagle bodyguards at his side.

Once past the 10 security checks, from openly armed g-men in camos, to g-men in suits, Milosevic enters the massive, tall ceiling-ed room adorned with electronics, digital maps, and screens. He goes down the metal steps towards the table map, and shakes Stambolic's hand, and his chiefs of staffs' hands.

"What's the national situation, Stambolic?" asked Milosevic

"The people are assaulting and committing crimes against Bosnians in a widespread manner." stated Stambolic.

"Foreign situation?" Milosevic asked begrudgingly inquired.

"More nations have joined the sanctions, and now there's a naval blockade."

"Naval blockade?" Milosevic asked, and then shortly after laughed.

"Yes, but please don't laugh sir. They could conduct a marine invasion." Stambolic concernedly stated

"So what should we do?" Milosevic asked, as he looks down at the ground.

"Get our g-men in National Safety to start rubbing out Bosniaks, thin out the numbers. We could do a widescale operation with the army, but there's no doubt foreign intelligence and press would expose it if we did it quick and fast with the army. At least this way, we have our Department boys getting the work done faster, secret, and quicker anyway. We'll eliminate men, but not women and children." Stambolic idealistically said.

"I assume with the usual method, the Special Conservation Zone?" said Milosevic.

"Yes sir." agreed Stambolic.

"I also implore you to call Jovic at Zvezda News and get them to put a spin on the sanctions, get them to blame our possible economic hardship on the foreigners." added Stambolic.

"I'll get on the line." Milosevic finished.

Despite it being one of the largest of the meeting rooms within the Imperial Palace Complex, the room felt crowded. Every seat around the long table was filled and numerous flunkeys stood stationed around the room, making sure that those seated had adequate refreshment. Ministerial aides and civil servants hovered behind the chairs of their charges, clutching sheaves of notes or tablets, ready to leap forward when needed. It had been foreseen that this may well be a long and possibly heated meeting, although the Agios Basileos would brook no actual challenge to his decisions or authority. The meeting was a more or less a complete gathering of the Agios Basilikon Vestiarion, the cabinet of Tagmatium. That in itself was very rare. Some of them had been entirely ignored by Kommodos, for as much of the twelve years that he had ruled Tagmatium.

The ministers and cabinet members sat according to their position within the Imperial Government. At the head of the table was Kommodos, flanked by the usual eight bodyguards, four from the Maghlabitai and four from the Spatharokandidatoi. The impassive, golden helmets might have intimidated others, but almost every person within the room saw them on a weekly basis. Coupled with the sumptuously decorated floor, silken wall hangings in deep imperial purple and the ancient table polished to a mirrored sheen, it would have taken the breath away of any normal individual. However, as a key member of cabinet, Megas Logothetes for War Honorios Kontarian had seen it before, time and time again. Even the magnificent splendour of Ahroma began to be almost a matter of indifference after a while.

“Imperial Majesty - we cannot let them do it.”

Honorios Kontatian winced to himself. He didn't bother to make it inwardly. He wasn't the only person around the long table who had the same reaction. The voice that had spoken a bit louder than necessary had come from Gregorios Traiektonos. He held the position of Prime Minister, or Mesazon, a position of respect and power in any other country. Instead, it was held by a man Honorios considered to be a bit on the dense side. The man often brayed far too unthinkingly, and far too often. It was the reason why he had effectively been given a useless position within the Tagmatine government. At least he hadn't done anything truly stupid, like bang on the table to emphasise his point. That would have been a gross breach of protocol.

And despite Kommodos' cold look down the table at those words, the Mesazon was instead looking at the rest of the cabinet instead of elaborating on what he had meant. The Logothetes for War was never sure of what the Mesazon added to these sorts of meetings. Perhaps it was his ability to just blind side issues without thinking what the repercussions might actually be or just totally misunderstand the situation and not genuinely add anything useful. Gregorios Traiektonos stopped looking around at the others within the room when it looked like he might actually have to explain what he meant. In fairness, everyone in the room did know what he meant, at least this time.

It was a more or less unprecedented moment although, in a way, the Agios Basilikon Vestiarion had expected that it was coming. Very few nations throughout the world were thought of as being approaching the greatness of Tagmatium and an even smaller number were held as near equals. In a way, it was a contradiction to the deeply held conceit that as there was Kingdom in Heaven, there was one Empire on Eurth. Which, of course, was Tagmatium.

“I mean, your imperial majesty, they have not claimed an imperial title since the Aroman Empire in the west collapsed,” the Mesazon said. He seemed to be slightly flustered. Honorios thought that it might be because he was having to think what he said through, rather than just blurt it out. “They're a successor state, not a true a continuation of Arhoman tradition, as we are. To recognise this usurpation would weaken that.”

The Aigos Basileos raised an eyebrow at that. “We have often recognised Adaptus as an heir to Aroma. As they recognise us. And for the same reason that we have always been hesitant in according another nation the same respect that we accord ourselves, Adaptus has always hesitated to call Arhomaneia by what we prefer to call ourselves.”

The flash of irony in Kommodos' words seem to sail past the Mesazon, who had a sullen look on his face. Traeiktonos didn't seemingly want to contradict what was said - it was just something that wasn't considered a valid return by the more staunchly patriotic Tagmatines. The superiority of the eastern Aroman nation was self-evident, after all. Albeit one few other nations on Eurth recognised.

“For the sake of the argument, imperial majesty,” another voice interjected, coming from near the head of the table, one of the seats that demonstrated the occupant's status within the cabinet. The voice itself held an edge of irritation, but Honorios couldn't tell who or what it was aimed at. A bull of a man sat in it, shaking his greying head slightly. He was the antithesis of the pencil-necked paper-pusher, but he was the Logothesion for Finance – arguably one of the foremost members of the cabinet, although the heads of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs and War might challenge that. “I will point out the fact is that by claiming that title, we do either deny the Adapton claim to being heirs of Aroma or imply that we still rule over them. In both cases, they have remained silent on this matter for some time. Augustus was hardly going to let that carry on.”

The unspoken last part of the sentence would have been “now that they are doing so well”. It couldn't be denied that Adaptus was on the way to becoming one of the world's foremost powers. That they had come so far in such a short time spoke of the new Adapton king's... no, the new Adapton Caesar's abilities. It had been too easy for the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion to have written him off as just another in a long line of weak or unstable rulers of Tagmatium's neighbour and ally. Instead, against Tagmatine predictions, he had successfully steered his nation through the so-called Great Lull and it was increasingly looking like Tagmatium was in the shade.

“Imperial sovereign, one of the dangers is that the people might not be so ready to accept the ascension of the Adapton monarch. It will likely cause some consternation, especially since we are not protesting it. The people might be likely to.”

Sitting forward in his chair, the Logothetes for War looked down the long table. He didn't recognise the speaker by voice alone and had to crane his neck to see past those sitting next to him. She sat near the end of the table, dressed in the ceremonial robes of the Attorney General. Insofar as Honorios was aware, this was the first time that she had been to a cabinet meeting. He supposed that this was a sign of the seriousness of the situation. And she was likely right – it could well impose a political crisis on Tagmatium.

“I assure you, Droungarissa ton Vigles,” replied the Tagmatine monarch, using the long form of her title. “I assure you, I have considered this. However, as Adaptus is our closest ally, trading partner and shares thousands of miles of border with us, I don't believe that I can act in any other manner. To do so would risk our relationship, which I cannot let happen at this time.”

It was likely true, Honorios thought to himself. Challenging the Adaptons on this matter would just piss them off. The Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomaion was relatively isolated at this point in time, the next closest diplomatic relationship that they had was with Aluxia, a small nation seemingly poised for war with its neighbour. He sighed slightly to himself. It was a case of being between a rock and a hard place.

“There is, of course, precedent.” This time, it was the next senior most Tagmatine politician speaking. He didn't use an honorific as he was speaking to the room in general. Philip Kommenos, the Kouroapalates, or Deputy Prime Minister, had stood for election against Kommodos for the Leopard Throne. Despite losing, he had become Kommodos' closest ally. “We recognise the Empress of Orioni as of imperial, if not equal, rank. The same went for Ide Jima, before the Long War. As much as we would like to do otherwise, we have to extend the same to Augustus. Doing so at least gives us agency within this affair.”

“The other matter we have to discuss is equally urgent.” At that, Kommdos had seemingly decided to shut down the Adapton matter, at least for the time being. It would likely be a subject that was talked about for some time to come. “Megas Logothetes Goulielmos, if you would please lay it out before us.”

Goulielmos pushed his glasses up his nose with a finger and tapped at the screen in front of him with his free hand. On the screen set in front of Honorios, as in front of everyone else within the room, a map appeared. It showed southern Argis, with the borders of one particular country highlighted. Greater Serbia. There was a slight change in the atmosphere of the room. The air of consternation at what Adaptus had done all but dissipated. Instead, there was one of caution. Only a few knew precisely where this was going to go next.

“As you are all aware, Greater Serbia is one of the nations that we have classified as a 'slaver-state' and levied sanctions against.” As Goulielmos spoke, the map zoomed in slightly, making the country fill the entire screen. As it did so, Honorios was surprised that Aluxia was quite so close to it. He could have sworn it had been further to the east. That was something worth considering. “They have decided that they are going to ship off members of what we considered to be an oppressed minority to Derthalen, as slaves. This group is known as 'Bosniaks' and are Muslim by religion. Despite their difference in faith, we cannot let this happen. Adaptus and several other nations are in the process of putting a blockade against them, albeit Greater Serbia is, for all intents and purposes, landlocked.

“However, recently, it seems that their Chancellor has decided to up his game.” The slightly flippant choice of words earned a slight frown from Kommodos and the Megas Logothetes for Foreign Affairs pushed his glasses back up his nose. “There are reports of widespread attacks against the Bosniaks by the majority ethnicities, something that is pushing into the 'pogrom' territory. Due to the policy of supplying slaves to Derthalen, we suspect that this has official backing. Estimates put the casualties into the tens of thousands, and we believe that to be conservative.”

That comment earned another general wince. The only people who didn't seem phased by it were the Agios Basileos and the head of the Tagmatine Intelligence Network, who likely supplied the numbers. Both had had time to allow the enormity of what was going on to be absorbed. It was still a grim idea.

“The only real complication to the situation,” Goulielmos continued, “is that they are Orthodox Christians.”

Like that should mean anything, thought Honorios with a frown. As far as he was concerned, the bombers should already be taxiing along the runways.

“Which means that they might elicit sympathy from the more conservative elements.” The Megas Logothetes for Internal Affairs picked up smoothly from where Goulielmos finished. He nodded towards the Holy Emperor. “So far, the Patriarkhes of Tzankhia has made mutterings about excommunication if the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion persists with the sanctions. And the Patriarkhai of Europatorion and Dymafos have suggested that they'd do the same to him if he does. Heiropolis currently sits on the fence. Really, we are perhaps on the edge of a religious crisis. That the Adaptons are leading the charge against Greater Serbia really compounds our earlier... problem.”

“Which means, as much as I loathe bowing to pressure in this manner, I am going to offer Greater Serbia a possible way out.” Honorios looked down the table at the Agios Basileos. There was no sign of any pressure on the man's face. The same look of aloof sternness was still there. “I will warn his majesty Augustus and I shall deign to explain my reasoning.

"But to take any edge of this, to show that despite the shared religion, Greater Serbia deserves no sympathy for the sanctions or blockade, any press statements that we make must highlight this atmosphere of possible government-sponsored oppression on the Bosniaks. That needs to be in place as soon as possible." Kommodos looked at the Megaloi Logothetai of Internal Affairs and Information in turn before stopping back over on former. "The extent of the sympathy also needs to be monitored."

That was an unofficial instruction to use Tagmatium's political police, the Internal Intelligence Inspectorate, to see how far any support for Greater Serbia went. It was likely to tumble when the level of ethnic cleansing that the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion came out into the open, anyway.

To: His majesty, Caesar Augustus II of @Adaptus

From: Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion of the Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomaion

Your majesty, Caesar Augustus of Adaptus,

I will be amongst the first to congratulate you on what can only be an expression of the prestige that Adaptus now receives in the world. It is clear that holding the title of “king” did not reflect what Adaptus, and yourself, has been able to achieve in such a short amount of time. It isn't doubted that your nation, and the abilities of you and your government, have become the envy of most of the world.

As a recognition of what you have been able to achieve, it puts you amongst the first in dignity of the rulers of the world today. No one will be able to deny that any longer and I do not doubt that it marks a change in epoch, as your gloried nation steps forward after a time of strife and troubles. To enshrine this moment, I am offering you the title of Sebastos, a high title in the palace offices of the Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomaion. In the past, it has been used to denote those who were kin of the Agios Basileos – such is the respect that Tagmatium holds for Adaptos.

I am also writing to tell you that I am going to direct my Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion to attempt to find a peaceful solution to this current Greater Serbia crisis. I am not doing it because I agree with what they are aiming to achieve or the means that they are undertaking to carry it out. Far from it – what they are doing is monstrous and if all else fails, there is only one thing that civilised nations can do.

But in the spirit of peace, for such a thing pleases God, Ahromaneia is going to attempt what seems to be almost impossible. If the Chancellor of Greater Serbia can be brought around to the fact that slaughtering his own population is despicable and affront to the religion he professes to follow, then that can only be a good thing.

Do not interpret that as Tagmatine weakness. I will keep the sanctions in place until Greater Serbia comes around and realises the error of its ways. If it comes to it, the soldiers, sailors and airmen of our noble and ancient nations will stand shoulder to shoulder, as they have done many times in the past. And, once again, they will fight to rid the world of tyranny and oppression.

I pray to God that your reign is long and peaceful and that our nations continue their friendship for as long as He wills it.

Kommodos III,

By the Grace of Christ the God,

Agios Basileos kai Autokrator ton Arhomaion

From: Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion of the Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomaion

CC: The Grand Federal Imperium of @Adaptus, the Kingdom of @Seylos and the Het Huisselant of @Variota

Your excellency,

It cannot have escape you that the opinion of the world appears to be turning against the policies that you are enacting within Greater Serbia, especially as you appear to be supporting the slave trade in Derthalen and the wider world. This, as has been seen, cannot be allowed to continue. My nation has put sanctions against your nation and yourself, and we are not the only ones doing so. Variota has placed similar sanctions against you and your nation. Arhomaneia's close ally, Adaptus, and Seylos have both gone a step further and are attempting to interdict trade between your nations and others.

You are at a turning point and it is entirely on you as to what happens next. The ill-treatment of the Bosniak minority is what is turning the world against you. It appears to outside observers, such as the Agios Basilikon Kounsistorion, that either your government has a hand in it, often in the form of sanctioned armed mobs, or is not doing enough to stamp down on it. As an act of ethnic cleansing, this would be monstrous in and of itself; that it has turned into state-sanctioned slavery is a grave sin, for a multitude of reasons.

As your nation is a Christian one, you must know that acting in this manner goes against His teachings. Slavery is naught but the fruit of sin, after all, and keeping along the path that you are going down will only lead to more suffering for your people. What is happening to the Bosniaks is also undoubtedly an affront to Christ and what He stands for, even if they are of a different faith to what we share. I strenuously suggest that your government, as a show of its willingness to relieve the growing tensions, prevents the further persecution of the Bosniaks and halts any shipments of slaves to the rogue nation of Derthalen.

To this end, the Megas Agios Basileia ton Arhomaion would be willing to act as an observer and potentially intercede on your nation's behalf towards the blockading forces of Adaptus and Seylos. Ideally, this would prevent any further suffering that may yet happen. If need be, although this is not the path that Ahromaneia would choose, we may be able to find a suitable homeland for the Bosniaks that is not within your nation.

However, these are not guarantees, your excellency. Only you may decide what happens next.

May God give you the strength to find the right path,

Eugenios Goulielmos,

Megas Logothetes

Logothesion of Foreign Affairs

of the

Off the coast of what to Adaptons was unclaimed land, in the Kezanoi Sea, the flotilla had rested itself, and a wider patrol had began. A wider sweep was used this time around, with a heavier focus on air patrols. "I have known Augustus a long time Megara. I trust his judgement. We will hold out patrols, and maintain aerial cordons. I have a feeling this 'blockade' will be purely metaphorical, and a distraction for the time being. The real work will be taking place back in Adaptus. I have a feeling the Special Warfare Service will be handling the majority of this action."

Megara swept her hair over her shoulder and gave an audible tut. "Let's seem those nerds pull it off."

Back in Adaptus, a dimly lit office block, nondescript, blending into the neon surroundings. Behind a bank screens, a young woman sat. Motionless, apart from her eyes darting back and forth from screen to screen. Her concentration fixated. Eventually, a single click of her mouse. Then a brief flurry across her keyboard. Suddenly a table of results appear across the screen. Her eyes widen.

"Wow... we can do a lot with this. MD5, and collations everywhere. We can syphon everything from this. Providing this isn't a honey pot, I think I've cracked this. Even easier than those Euclidian's to the south."

She stood up from her desk, swinging a back over her shoulder, and picking up her coffee. Leaving her computer on, but locked. She made her way out of the office. Eyes not fixated on her phone screen.

Eugastin tapped his foot on the palace floor, thinking...

"Sir?"

Eugastin turned around to look at one of the Chancellor's aides. Just like usual, this one looked like he had just about half-worked himself to death.

The King thought to himself. You know, I should talk to Korinsti about the treatment his officials are getting...

"Sir!"

"Yes? What is it this time?"

"Uh, the Chancellor wishes to speak to you. It's about the situation down south in Serbia. As you may know, the, uh, Emperor, of Adaptus-"

Cutting the aide off midsentence, the King then replied back.

"Adaptus? Their country is half a world away! What do they think they're going to do to Serbia?"

"If I remember right, the Chancellor was saying something about how we could use the Occupied Region in our East to host their troops for a -"

"Invasion?"

"-well, yeah, the Chancellor said something more along the lines of "Intervention", but, uh..."

"I see no problem with that."

"Well, what about the former leaders of the occupied region? Would they be okay with it?"

"Hmm..."

On one hand, he hadn't ever gotten around to hosting and meeting with the former "barbarian" leaders of the East, but on the other, he couldn't let this opportunity be wasted. The Commonwealth really did need to regain it's worldwide influence, no matter what it took...

"Well, there is a small, relatively uninhabited strip of land that could theoretically be used to transport troops and whatnot through..."

"You mean the place that you ordered be, in your words, "bombed to oblivion", in the invasion of the East?"

Eugastin gave the aide a stare before continuing.

"Anyway, just tell the Chancellor that I support his idea. I'll go talk to him after messaging the leader of Adaptus."

"Sure thing.."

"And get some sleep while you're at it."

The aide nodded acknowledgingly before walking off.

Eugastin then walked to his office, turned on his computer, and began typing a message directly to the Emperor of Adaptus.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings, Your Majesty, Caesar of Adaptus, etc.

As I understand, you, along with your allies, plan to intervene in the nation of Greater Serbia, which is located to Poland-Lithuania's southeast.

Additionally, with my government's Eastern Occupied Region taken into account, the Commonwealth's borders stretch to Serbia's.

Seeing as there is a relatively uninhabited region of land stretching through the Occupied Region from the Commonwealth's internationally recognized border to Serbia's internationally recognized border, in which troops and the like could pass through without disturbing the native population of the region, I, on behalf of my country, propose that-

-Adaptus and her allies will be permitted to use this region as they wish to intervene in the nation of Greater Serbia.

-Adaptus and her allies will pay the Commonwealth's government 1,700,000 Polish Rubles to cover any related costs to Poland-Lithuania.

You, or one of your advisors, may reply back to me anytime in the next week.

Thank you.

Cosamar IV Eugastin, King of Poland and Lithuania

Prime Minister Guiverdi carefully knocked on the large black door in front of him. After a few seconds the door opened revealing the Grand Duke sitting at a desk in his study, he slowly greeted the guards and sat down opposite of the Grand Duke.

"Get to it, I'd rather get this over with quickly. What do you want?" said the Grand Duke while lighting a cigar.

"It's from the Parliament, we recently approved a resolution regarding the current situation in Greater Serbia and the blockade led by Adaptus." said Guiverdi while he grabbed some papers from a folder.

"And you want me to do what?" said the Grand Duke after coughing up some smoke.

"Just have a look at it. I decided it is probably better to take it to you before it comes into effect in case you might disagree." said the Prime Minister as he handed the papers to the Grand Duke.

Due to the current situation in Greater Serbia the Chamber of the People has agreed to the following which will be in effect from 3 PM ACT, 22 July 2018.

  • Limonaia will cease all relations with Greater Serbia, Greater Serbian citizens will be deported as well as diplomatic staff and Limonaian citizens are highly advised to leave the country as soon as possible. All Limonaian diplomatic staff in Greater Serbia will be withdrawn.

  • Any assets owned by Greater Serbian companies or citizens will be seized by the Limonaian state, there will however be a 78 hour period where any assets can be withdrawn from Limonaia before they are seized, in order to allow for companies/individuals to keep their items if removed quickly.

  • Limonaia will join the current blockade of Greater Serbia lead by Adaptus and commit a minimum of 3 Frigates to the cause.

After the document the Grand Duke disposed of his Cigarette while Guiverdi anxiously awaited a response.

"Normally I wouldn't approve of interfering in someone else's private affairs no matter how horrid, however since things are so... Strained back home I think it might help the image of the monarchy if I commit to this. Consider it approved" he said, handing the paper to Guiverdi.

"Thank you your Majesty! I'll make sure the foreign ministry sends out the appropriate messages." They shook hands and Guiverdi was escorted out of the Grand Duke's Palace.

Three large men wearing the Sayfi Military uniform donning many medals and ribbons walked into a large office, with Ali Al-Karim sitting in a large leather office chair on his computer. The three men would salute and the one wearing the most ribbons and medals stepped forward and said:

"Mr. President, we've received the photos from the spy plane mission over Greater Serbia."

The man would hand him a thick orange packet full of photos, and the president would look through them

"Yes, military bases, bridges, railways, what's this?"

The president would show them photos of clearings and what appears to be a man-made crater

"Our analysts have indicated that those our mass graves sir, this would confirm testimonies from Bosniak refugees."

"Are you implying that there is a genocide occurring in Greater Serbia and Bosniaks are being targeted?"

"It appears that that is what's happening, sir."

"General, ready the military. If you'll excuse me I'll be presenting this information to parliament."

"Yes, sir."

The chambers of parliament are loud and are full of murmuring when suddenly the president bursts in through the doors and announces: "Order!" suddenly the chambers quiet

"There is a genocide in Greater Serbia! The Bosniaks are being killed and thrown into holes in the ground!"

"I propose we issue a declaration of war to Greater Serbia to liberate the Bosniak people and we should make information about the genocide known to all nations!"

Suddenly there is a murmur in the chambers that lasts for a few minutes

"All opposed?"

4 men apart of the Conservative Action party raise their hands

"All in favor?"

The entire parliament with the exception of the 4 men raise their hand

"Very well, I shall inform the Minister of Defense to issue the declaration of war and to execute the invasion of Greater Serbia and the Minister of Communications to make sure every single person on Eurth knows about the genocide."

0500 hours, Belgrade time, Mount Triglav facility undisclosed location

The Chancellor has been staying at the Triglav facility since the threats of military action have been made against Greater Serbia. For the past weeks, while business has been carried on as usual, the Presidential Palace has been very empty without the presence of Milosevic and his immediate cabinet. Stambolic, the head of the Serbian G-men Department of National Safety, is present as usual, over-seeing the ethnic cleansing operations in the situation room.

"Morning, Chancellor." said, in his tired voice, greeting Milosevic.

"How are the operations, Stambolic? Don't give me any sugar coating." demanded Milosevic.

"Everything is going as stable as can be, Bosnian population growth has been at a negative monthly rate of 3.8" Stambolic said, enthusiastically.

"Well, hopefully there won't be any Bosnians once those dirty Westerners fall out of the skies." Milosevic said, cheeringly.

"What is the foreign situation?" Milosevic inquired.

"Well, intelligence services would infer that other nations want to intervene, militarily." Stambolic answered.

"What are our options of recourse?" asked Milosevic.

"We either lose popular support, and bend to the will of the westerners, or we stand and fight." suggested Stambolic.

"What're our allies in this effort?" Milosevic wanted to know.

"I can send a letter to our Derthaler partners, without them, I don't know what other nations that would come to our aid." stated Stambolic.

"For now, I want to pre-mobilize the army, start notifying our paramilitaries and militias to get prepared." ordered Milosevic."

"Yes, Chancellor." acknowledged Stambolic.

1800 hours, next day.

The diesel engines that were inspected and serviced the day before, cranked to produce big plumes of smokes from their rusted pipes, getting warmed up to haul supplies across the nation, getting logistics in place for the full mobilization. The trucks loaded to the maximum with building supplies, and FOB parts. Sooner or later there will be major preparations for a defense against many nations trying to assert their liberal dominance on the defiant Serbs. Soon, there will be soldiers and military police on the streets and highways of the country, digging barriers and dropping sandbags, letting the people know the severity of the situation.

Walking down a dark alleyway Tammuz a 20 year old student in the University of Gabal clutches a 50 Kisp banknote in his hand closing his eyes hiding behind a dumpster. The hardened leather of a Civil Security's boot on the cobblestone street matches the hardened beats of Tammuz's heart as the nose bloodening dings of a steal pipe knocks across the fence posts leading up to the alley. After what feels like five mini eternities the guard passes the alleyway without even a brief glance in Tammuz's direction. A tearful sigh of relief fills the cramped alley. Tammuz quickly regains composure and continues his quest running down the path to a steal door at its end. Tammuz knocks 5 times on the door and then taps 1, 1, 2, and 3 times on the slit. Two piercing brown eyes with sapphire blue eye shadow looks down on him but Tammuz holds up his left index finger with right index, middle, and ring fingers crossing it creating a "𐤎". The door opens and Tammuz and the woman at the door hug before the door is once again shut. "Welcome brother, the others are just this way." Walking down creaking wooden steps Tammuz and the woman arrive to a basement where in the middle a long cedar wood table beckons for Tammuz to sit as he greats the other men and women meeting from the order. Hearing of Baalshillek's fall from the Sophet's grace one member stands and declares "this is our time to act, now the Medamotzah is lodged in controversy we must use this opportunity to act and return Shapash's Republic to Shapash's people." The woman who greeted Tammuz gets up and asks "with what, may I ask? A bit of zeal and a few smuggled pistols, no we must instead use this to spread word of the Sophet's erratic behavior and raise popular support. The last thing the Ambrosian order needs is another high profile attack to drive us further into the shadows." The meeting carries on for several hours with bickering and yelling matches but to Tammuz's surprise the members aren't hurt by the insults and argument but revel in it. This is what we are fighting for after all, Democracy. The discussion is concluded with a vote where it is decided that the order shall use this as an opportunity to spread rumors and propaganda against the Sophet and the Medamotzah. A few days later Tammuz is in his basement speaking into a smuggled radio transmitter calling for the people to wave their fists and call for liberty. When suddenly he freezes. Three hard knocks stop his heart as he attempts to quickly hide his contraband. A loud jolt of snapping wood stabs into Tammuz's soul.
