LIBERAL PARTY UPSETS 20 YEAR CONSERVATIVE RULE

ABP - The Liberal Party wins a stunning electoral victory over the ruling conservative party during the elections held on June 20, 2018. Celebratory Supporters have flooded the streets of Nueva Vega to show support for their winning party. The Victorious liberal party shall now gather together and formally announce the new prime minister of the newly formed Belearean Government.

The losing conservative party has held power over the Belearean government in the last 20 years. Arising to power under a platform of self sufficiency, the conservative government has banned most imports and heavily tax the few goods that aren't. They instituted an economic policy of import substitution that lifted millions of Beleareans out of unemployment and into the middle class and supported the growth of many local firms and corporations that stepped up to provide substitutes for the now unavailable foreign goods. However, rising costs of living, wage stagnation, and tax-driven inflation due to the increasingly inefficient, self sufficient economy and sky-high tariffs on imported goods failed to see improvement  in the average standard of living.

The Newly risen Liberal Party now promises economic and trade policy reforms, Promising that a Belearean economy can find its niche in the global economy without leaving any Belearean behind.

EMMANUEL TORRALBA DECLARED AS GOVERNMENT PM

ABP - Liberal Party leader EmmanuelTorralba was declared as the Prime Minister of Beleareas as of June 22, 2018 08:00AM BST. Miguel Torralba's Liberal Party won a stunning major victory over the ruling Conservative Belearean Party. In a quote to the Belearean Times, "The Belearean people have spoken! We shall put an end to the autarkist policies of the previous government that has held back our great nation for the last 2 decades. Beleareas is now open for business!"

The Liberal Party has released the details of their new policies:

1. The elimination of all import bans
2. Ending the protectionist tariffs and replacing them with reciprocal tariffs
3. Study the feasibility of participation in international trade organizations
4. Establish bilateral trade treaties

TORRALBA SEEKS FOREIGN PARTNERS FOR NEW INTERNATIONAL SEAPORT AND AIRPORT

ABP - Prime Minister Emmanuel Torralba in a slew of infrastructure development announcements have announced the construction of new international terminals for commerce. The newly proposed terminals shall be a new International Airport in Ciudad San Tonio and a second Seaport in Nueva Vega. The newly elected Prime Minister promises to seek foreign partnership in design and construction to "create improved integration in the international economy."

"The Belearean government hereby announces this formal request for international designers and constructors to bid for the new airport and seaports." says the Representative of communications in a press conference.

BEL-AIRES TO SERVE THREE NEW NATIONAL DESTINATIONS

ABP- The Belearean Airlines Bel-Aires, has announce that it shall be serving new flight routes into @Fulgistan, @Mauridiviah, and @Greater Serbia. The Bel-Aires CEO Miguel Granada was quoted "This is explosive news! Once it hits the news papers it will be so the bomb!" during a share holder meeting.

Bel-Aires will continue to expand its operations abroad and shall look forward to establishing routes in @Limonaia, @Iverica, @Monvisret and @Sunset Sea Islands for its next round of expansions.

Bel-Aires has seen a long period of stagnation after the conservative government of Beleareas imposed an isolationist policy 20 years ago. "Now, with the new Liberal Government, we can look forward to a brighter future!" says Granada.

ADAPTUS BLOCKADES GREATER SERBIA, BEL-AIRES PLANES DIVERT TO VARIOTA

ABP - Bel-Aires planes found themselves diverted to @Variota at the Kaptein A.H. Ferrefaaierhafen International Airport and Aurora Sichtlaiter Commemorative Airport after being denied entry into the airspace around Greater Serbia after @Adaptus called on TRIDENT and like-minded nations to Blockade the nation of @Greater Serbia . Variotan Officials are quick to console the Troubled passengers saying "Enjoy our casinos, brothels, drug dispensaries and Varinco weapon shops!"

Adaptus has called for a blockade on Greater Serbia. They demanded that the blockade shall be put to an end if Greater Serbia abolishes slavery and protect the Human rights of Bosniaks. Chief Political Analyst Juan Manuel Malvar says "The Blockade threatens Greater Serbian oil  trade with @Imperial States of Europe and industrial goods trade with @Derthalen."

Malvar added "I doubt the efficacy of a trade embargo to threaten the position of Chancellor Milosevic. In fact, he was just handed a propaganda goldmine. He can now blame Adaptus as the source of woes to the people of his nation and direct their anger towards the blockade instead of the Chancellor himself. Adaptus should target the foreign assets held by Milosevic's supporters instead. once they feel the pain, they can talk some sense to the Chancellor."

MUNDUS LIBER SURVEY RESULT RANKS BELEAREAS 23 OUT OF 28, INCITES GAY PRIDE RALLY ON PARLIAMENT DOORSTEP

ABP - Members of the Belearean LGBT Society held a picket rally in front of parliament this afternoon. Picket rally leaders were leading the crowd to chant "what do we want? LGBT rights! When do we want it? Now!" protesters cited the recently published ( @Mauridiviah ) Mundus Liber LGBT rights survey as proof that the government was not doing enough to protect the rights of its members. "Its a crime that Beleareas has such poor laws in comparison to its neighbor @Iverica" added the rally leaders.

The Belearean Parliament was split on the results of the study. "We should be proud we don't rank highly on that list! Burrito would be ashamed of us!" remarked a conservative MP. Beleareas is a devout nation and the church of Joao de Burritto wields considerable conservative influence on society. Meanwhile the majority liberal party was still unsure of how to receive the results. "Clearly there is much work to be done to advance LGBT rights within the kingdom." remarked a Liberal MP.

The Mundus Liber Survey, conducted an LGBT rights survey that ranked the nation of @Adaptus 1st in contrast to its neighbour of @Tagmatium Rulesranked 22nd just one spot above Beleareas. with the nation of @Derthalen ranked last. The survey described  them as having "Unhealthy anachronistic attitudes towards gender and sexuality prevail; the government inflicts horrific pain upon LGBT individuals; do not travel here."

MORTI CRANII THE PROTECTOR OF SAKSPATI SEA

 

Nueva Vega AP - The BMV Santo Joao was rescued from a Blue Flag Pirate attack by the BMV Mori Cranii captained by Inigo Maretamia on June 8, 2020 at the East Sakspati Sea. north of @Valacia. The Santo Joao sent out a distress signal on the early hours of the day when it spotted the pirate ship Azure Reindeer. The Santo Joao's crew put up a brief fight to deter the attacking pirates before surrendering to the determined crew of the Azure Reindeer. No casualties were reported during the encounter and the cargo stolen furthermore a group of school children were kidnapped by the pirates. The Morti Cranii arrived at the scene of the attack only moments after the Azure Reindeer had fled the scene. It only found the demoralized crew, terrorized passengers and mortified parents of the kidnapped school children. The Mori Cranii then set out to pursue the Azure Reindeer. The pursuit brought the Morti Cranii to the west Mediargic Sea where it finally caught up to the Azure Reindeer. An encounter took place where after a few carefully placed cannon shots from the Morti Cranii disabled the Azure Reindeer's Engines forcing the pirates to capitulate. The Morti Cranii thus recovered the stolen goods and rescued the school children but was unable to capture the Azure Reindeer nor its crew.

The Morti Cranii returned to the Santo Joao returned most of its cargo and most importantly safely returned the terrified school children to their worried parents.

Inigo Maretamia the captain of the Morti Cranii was hailed as Protector of the Sakspati Sea by the Belearean Maritime Community upon his return. The captain turned hero came across as a boisterous and aggressive individual. Such characteristics might be a necessity for the treacherous Sakspati Sea where intrepid and opportunistic pirates have been known to attack mariners. As captain of the BMV Mori Cranii, Maretamia has been responding to the call of endangered marine vessels passing the Penensula.
