I'm making this thread to try and organize some kind of space mission to occur in RP in the near future. I heard that there's not been a moon landing for this region yet, but I'm personally rooting for a Mars probe. If your nation is interested in doing things in space please comment and maybe we can get a nice international space mission going.

I am interested in doing space things, but if we were to work in something this ambitious it would have to be RPd and developed from the ground up, both to be realistic and also to be fair to the ISTC organisation which has similar aims but has been actively RPing development for much longer and with great detail.

By "ground up" I'm talking about RPing the development of prerequisite tech (rocketry, telemetry tech/orsomesh*tlikethat, etc.). More importantly, securing funding, be it state or private.

The above disclaimer nowithstanding, I'm very willing to get into this. ISTC seems wrapped up at the moment and I would like to advance space tech with like-minded nations.

I'm in, however astriedanian rocket/space tech is almost non existent. I agree with Orioni on the "from the ground up" rp.

As an ISTC member, it saddens me that Mag isn't on very often, but we have a mission planned for this year (next few months). @Orioni put together a nice schedule for us somewhere (would you be so kind to post it in here, I can't find it). I would be grateful if you guys would start easy with some satellites and such first whilst we do man missions. If you need a sweet spaceport to ship your stuff into orbit, you know which equatorial surveillance state you have to call!

Sounds very intriguing. I don't have the capital or national interest to adequately develop a space program, but it would be nice to see something develop out of this. Nice of you to reach out and show initiative.

Adaptus has for some time had a very active space interest. Going so far as to have a small arm of our Military dedicated to space endeavours. This includes satellite networks, and space stations. Although nothing crazy. Adaptus may, or may not have also placed weapons in orbit over the last decade or so, but that is a thread for another day. (Something I may be introducing in my current RP). 

So any organised effort to push for space exploration, would be seen by Adapton authorities as a threat to our current strategic position. So, the likelihood of a space race being triggered, is high.

To address @Iverica that was the plan that I had in mind, with nations pooling in their resources to make this not take 50 years.

Perhaps @Astriedan and us could collaborate in some way.

Thanks for the support @Girkmand, perhaps you could contribute through other means such as workers or scientists?

Dunno if @Asgeirria's comment is a statement of support or just an independent endeavor they want to try.

I don't think that a coaltion of a few small nations could ever threaten @Adaptus's space reign.

Ahrana has plans to do so, I have expressed my interest in a speech made months ago about Ahrana wanting to go to space. I'm wanting to form a Space Co-op with other nations but not sure how many would want to with a Communist nation.

If you want to see what I'm talking about the post I'm talking about it in my News Outlet aka Ahrana Today and it's when the Five Year Plan was placed out so that's the time I stated it if you wanted to know. Also the ASA-Ahranaian Space Agency is funded thought the Secretary General and the Former Queen of Ahrana the Daughter of Gustov (Privetly not known to the public) and by the Government and Military . Politics has no play in the ASA.

Salutations bad speller.

The region has a policy of allowing space exploration. A space race is not yet part of our historical canon. (Looking at @Adaptus for confirmation.)

@Mauridiviah I would highly advise working your way up this chain of complexity, intermixed with failings and successes. For manned missions, we expect this to be a joint effort of multiple-players.

@Orioni No spaces races. There have been other in space. But not to the extent a space race begins. Would make for interesting RP.

@Adaptus I think that, with the right OOC planning, we could RP a space race that took place in the past. It would be a way to have a go at past-tech and explore the period of our IC grandparents. This could both explain present-day events and give everyone an interesting backstory for a deeper experience. Just let me repeat that OOC planning is the key issue here.

Can we start by sending GoPros to the startosphere by taping them to weather balloons?

This could be a start for the Latin Space Cooperatives or something. We should just make sure it doesn't end up like that one scene from Elysium where all Mexican astronauts were human traffickers...

I think the place to start is indeed that, but with one modification: we tape the GoPros to small replicas of the spaceshuttle which we tie into the weather balloons.

Andalla runs a space program, sure, but it's mostly (wholly) composed of constructing commercial satellites. And Andalla itself isn't even the one launching them, nor does it actually have any launch facilities. I'd imagine @Sunset Sea Islands would be the one launching stuff into space for us.

I guess Andalla could provide some help (?) but we won't be fully devoted to this thing. We already have the Sea of Andalla and the Tiauhai Sea to explore 😜

Planning-wise, I will be aiming to put a first woman on the Moon with 12-24 months of RP.

This can be either as modern RP, or retconning it with a story set somewhere between 1950-1975.

I'm happy to collaborate! Though my goals are more earth oriented than exploration. But I am sure I can find some way to collaborate.
