The King gives an important speech

At a yearly conference today in Warsaw, the King, Cosamar IV Eugastin, gave a short speech. The main topic was the agriculture industries in the Commonwealth, however, he saved an important message until the end. The full transcript is as follows-

"Hello, people of the Commonwealth, as you may know, the amount of wheat, potatoes, and greens that you grow really matters. That is why I am here to thank you for the 4% increase in food production since last spring. It really does help our ever-growing population if there is more food to go around. I hope for another increase for next year. In addition to that, I have made a deal with Plakura Korinsti for an increased agriculture budget. This will help build more farms and fields to help with our goal of feeding every citizen of the Commonwealth. I know, it will increase your taxes, but I'm sure that all of you love paying them. It's for your own good.

Anyway, I have also chosen a new Minister of Defense! Gordon Feyadall has served in our glorious army since he was 19, and he is one of, if not the most, loyal and determined person I have ever met. I'm sure he will be serving us for many more years to come. I'm sure...."

And with that, he departed off of the stand, and let the next person talk.

Large-scale robbery in Krakow

Earlier today, a large-scale robbery happened in downtown Krakow, just a few blocks away from government buildings. Maddened with a recent water shortage around the Capital, caused by a recent drought, a group of nine armed civilians, both men and women, attacked a small convenience store, breaking the main windows, the front door, killing the janitor, and seriously harming both the store clerk and the shop's owner. A group of police were called to the scene, quickly capturing the criminals with minimal injuries, and taking them away to a maximum-security prison.

The mayor of Krakow has both condemned the attack and talked with the Chancellor about toughening up on terrorism and it's supporters.

Advanced robotics research under way

Realizing the need for an updated military, the Minister of Defense has ordered for research on advanced robotic software to commence. Various items planned for development include better prosthetic arms, GPS helmets, self-driving armored vehicles, and more accurate artillery. In addition to this, versions of many of the items developed will also enter the hands of civilians, helping them with their day-to-day lives.

Also in the works is a massive program to increase the security of the many stores around the Commonwealth. Better surveillance systems, shatterproof glass, and reinforced doors will all be installed. Hopefully, this will reduce the chance of another incident like the one that occurred yesterday from happening.

Blizzard alert in Lithuania

The National Weather Association has warned cities in Eastern Lithuania about a large blizzard entering the Commonwealth from that direction. All cities in the area have been ordered to invoke a temporary curfew, to prevent night-time robberies, and supplies have been sent to the smaller towns, to help them ride out the storm more easily. This is the strongest storm in nearly 60 years to hit the Commonwealth, and from what the N.W.A. is forecasting, it certainly won't be the last. Any flights to and from the area have also been canceled.

The King hopes that minimal casualties occur, and that all supplies in the region are used wisely.

Blizzard passes, many dead revealed

Earlier today, after the blizzard had moved on, many of the towns in it's snow-covered path were heavily damaged. According to the estimates from the N.W.A., the storm had reached a top wind speed of almost 80 miles per hour, leading many to call it a "snow hurricane". Already, over 400 crushed or frozen corpses have been found in the region, and the government has been forced to send in small divisions of the military to both locate survivors and keep robbers from looting the various half-ruins. The Lithuanian regional government has declared a state of emergency, and the shipping of donations from the other nations in the Commonwealth has begun in full force.

Restoration begins in Eastern Lithuania

Earlier today, the King ordered for the massive project of rebuilding the destroyed section of Eastern Lithuania to officially begin. Hundreds of trucks have begun to be sent to the region, each carrying boxes upon boxes of supplies. In addition to this, all new buildings built in blizzard-prone regions will be forced to use wind-resistant materials, hopefully stopping much of the future damage done by snowstorms.

Large-scale police chase occurs

At roughly 7:00 AM local time today, a group of 12 armed terrorists stormed the National Institute for Education's office in Warsaw. Approximately 22 civilians died in the attack. First-hand reports say that they were doing it in the name of their extremist ideology, however, it still hasn't been confirmed whether they had any connection to major terror groups. What is known however, is that it took a total of 40 policeman, 17 of which died, to catch these criminals. They will all be sentenced to lengthy interrogation and a private execution.

Border security enhanced

The Minister of the Exterior, Fardor Komingway, made an important announcement today. Startled by recent events, and learning that the terrorists yesterday were not Commonwealth citizens, he has obtained funds directly from the national treasury to drastically increase border security. A 9-foot fence will be built on the majority of the outer Commonwealth border and the defenses at border checkpoints will be, at the very least, doubled. In addition, security at both airports and naval ports will be both much stricter and more advanced. More detailed visas will also be needed to enter the country. These precautions will all be in place until the threat of terrorism lowers.

The Commonwealth Times under stricter ownership

Following a few recent stories published by the Commonwealth Times that showed our glorious government as less-then-perfect, the King has taken full ownership of the company, and a new set of staff has been put in place. All previous workers of the Times will be provided with full financial aid and free housing. We promise. In addition to this, all other regional newspapers of the Commonwealth have been merged with the Commonwealth Times to make sure that no false news is being printed. At all.
