Forum background images

Recommended Posts

Since December 2015 I have set the forum background image to a winter theme: https://sites.google.com/site/orionieuropa/...-protonmail.jpg

For the upcoming spring season, I was thinking of changing to something else. And, as always, this is open to suggestion.

When summer comes around, I may go with this desert scene although nothing is set in stone:

1. http://whois.domaintools.com/images/backgr...esert-hills.jpg

2. https://cdn.thinglink.me/api/image/49276821...10/scaletowidth

3. http://imgprix.com/web/wallpapers/desert-b...y/1920x1080.jpg

And then of course there is autumn.

InvisionPower has it. I'm unsure if InvisionFree can replicate this. Giving everyone the possibility to upvote something would mean storing this information in a database somewhere. I highly doubt that a free script would be able to do this. Maybe locally, by storing the info in a browser cookie, but only you would be able to see that.

Ah. I only noticed they both were zIFBoards and had the invisionfree address.

That forum says "Powered by IPDynamic Lite" but when one clicks it it re-directs to https://www.invisionpower.com/ just like our "Powered by Invision Power Board" link does.

They had like and dislike buttons, but named differently. But I notice now that that forum doesn't anymore.

The service we use, InvisionFree, is a licensed version of InvisionPower Board v1.3. Throughout the years the original has been updated quite a lot, being at v4 right now. However, we who use this free, licensed version do not benefit from this. The two are different companies. That is the reason why there is such a lively hacking community around InvisionFree, because that is the only way to add new features.

I have already investigated what it would costs to export our database and import it into a paid version of InvisionPower. Quite costly to say the least.

Updating the winter mountain background image https://sites.google.com/site/orionieuropa/...-protonmail.jpg to something else for this summer, based on the suggestions made above.

These were the final choices:

* Desert sands http://www.walldevil.com/wallpapers/w17/pi...wers-spring.jpg

* Spring flowers http://www.walldevil.com/wallpapers/w17/pi...wers-spring.jpg

* Green sunrise http://kingofwallpapers.com/spring/spring-028.jpg

Spring has come around again, so back to a green landscape we go. smile.gifhttps://sites.google.com/site/orionieuropa/...ican-meteor.jpg

I had toyed with making the blue horizontal title bar into green as well, but that just looked weird.

Still, if anyone wishes to propose the next background image, this suggestion box remains open.

Not sure how you guys are doing, but where I live it has been really sunny these past weeks. Time to shed our spring theme and choose a summer background image.

These are the proposals we had last year. Everyone is invited to share their own proposals. We will decide with a simple poll.

1. Desert sands https://whois.domaintools.com/images/backgr...esert-hills.jpg

2. Spring flowers https://www.walldevil.com/wallpapers/w17/pi...wers-spring.jpg

3. Green sunrise http://kingofwallpapers.com/spring/spring-028.jpg

4. One of these other nature pictures http://hdwpro.com/category/nature

I've found a few summery pictures. I hope you'll like them.

And here I half expected you to propose a tropical beach paradise. EE.gif

I was thinking about that, but I think taking pride in being a part of Europa is more important than foolish local patriotism. Of course the last picture was taken on the cliffs of Liberty Island. ^^

...not that I would mind looking at some beautiful Sunset Sea Islandian beaches...
