Vocenae
So long as it isn't Hilary or Guiliani, I have no preference. ย Well, maybe a little biased for Obama, since he's from my state but that's a horrible reason to want him to win. ย So then I guess I really have no preferred choice. Orioni
I just did a comparison of of my views and those of all the candidates. It looks like Bill Richardson is my main man, closely followed by John Edwards. The closest Republican is Ron Paul, but probably doesn't come as a surprise. ย Here is an English version of the test, in case you are curious. 36 quick questions which you should be able to solve in a couple of minutes. ย http://www.kieskompas-usa.nl/language/en/ Link to comment

Bar the fact that his polices and political stance I'm kind of the opposite of, he published (or apparently published) a fair few newsletters in the early 90s bleating on about race wars and all that sort of crap, or so I read in the NSG topic about Ron Paul. He just seems an entirely distasteful character. ย I also don't really understand the American system for selecting a presidential candidate, anyways. Why the hell do people from the same party stand against each other? Link to comment
Byzantium Nova
hmm, closest to my views were Edwards and Obama, although honestly I do not care as long its not bush or bush-clone. ย And yea. Their election system is weird. Link to comment
Nan Gorgwaith
Hey now, we have used our 200+ years wisely to perfect such a silly system. Edited January 12, 2008 by Nan Gorgwaith (see edit history) Link to comment

But I will never vote for him. He is so "out there" on other issues that were not part of the question. ย I'm gonna wait and see what happens in Feb. ย ย Link to comment
Beautancus
I'm partial to Edwards myself, having had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with him twice (waaay back now, in my high school years), and for similar reasons to why you like Obama Voc (I'm an NC native, and will naturally pull for anyone from either of the Carolinas, so long as they be a Democrat). My second fave is Obama, and I would be happy seeing either of those win the nomination. ย If I had to choose a Republican...yucko...maybe McCain. He seems to be a tough old fogey, if nothing else. ย (I actually scored dead on with Obama for most of that quiz.) Edited January 12, 2008 by Beautancus (see edit history) Link to comment
Orioni
And how about Rudy? ย Link to comment
Deltannia
Any of the three democrats are fine for me. I don't think my registration will be through by primary time (it might though, so I'll have to choose). If not then I'll let others decide. Just no republicans. Nothing against the party really, just the candidates aren't good. The best I think is John McCain if I really had to pick one, but if any of the others win I will hurt someone. ย Guiliani was a terrible mayor for NYC. He did some good things, but at the expense of others. ย And while I'm not saying I would vote for her necessarily, Clinton has done a good job for NY state.... Link to comment
Beautancus
Sadly "Rudy" is a pretty good example of an American Politician. Corrupt (or "crooked" as we would say in North Carolina) as he can be. Link to comment
Cypriceos
Wow completely different stance on Giuliani here. ย NA practically loves him. I don't. ย Personally I think he's riding off the whole "He was NY Mayor during 9/11." Link to comment
Beautancus
Something the wife forwarded to me today. It's MSNBC, so it's rather biased against the man to begin with, but it's still pretty interesting. ย "Rudy" Link to comment
Deltannia
He is riding on that. I read a quote in the newspaper taken from another candidate who I think dropped out, but he said Guiliani's whole campaign was noun, verb, and 9/11. ย Honestly, current mayor Bloomberg is definitely a way better choice.... politically speaking that is, but isn't that what this SHOULD be all about? Link to comment
Beautancus
Yep, it is Admiral. ย I'm a registered Independent (like Bloomberg is now, though he and I share little politically) but that's only because in North Carolina you have to be an Independent to work in Polling Stations...which I have never done...but hey, best to be prepared. Orioni
Rudy Guiliani thinks you should have REAL ID to get online. Is there such a general dislike for Hillary Rodham Clinton within her own party? Is there something else non-Americans should be aware of? Link to comment
Tal Shiar
Ron Paul for the win! Link to comment
Tagmatium Rules
Ron Paul for the win! Christ, no. That'd be the last person I'd want as leader of the USA. I essentially feel that a lot of his policies are the opposite to my personal political views. ย As for Guiliani's ID card thing... it seems to be a massive feature of the right-wing these days to bring in ID cards, primarily to "keep everyone safe". It also seems to make ID fraud a hell of a lot easier, as everything is all kept in one place, which in itself is never a good idea.
