Vocenae Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I'd like to propose that we remove Tamurin, Orioni, Phil, Koku, Mongol Swedes, Italgria, and Pirilao. Ragardless of the things they've done in the past for Europa, they no longer roleplay or contribute anything to this region after leaving for Cybernations. They are essentially taking up space and valuable plots that any new players and current members could use, and they do not deserve to keep them. Also, I would like to ask that we give all remaining members another map plot free of posting and population requirements, since the forum isn't exactly thriving with new players right now.
Cabarria Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I suppose I don't have any great objection to this. Perhaps we ought to add Vanarambaion to that list as well, as that nation has lapsed into oblivion as well. I note that this will greatly empty the map, although the extra plot you suggest would help to fill this up. I'm going to defer judgment on this to the older and more experienced members, and as the cartographer, I'll abide by the majority opinion.
Deltannia Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Quite honestly, should we ever get around to bringing both worlds together, I believed (and with even greater reason now, now that less of the map is tied down) that we would make a new map. There are so many minor nations to remove as well. Maybe not make a new map, because that's a lot of work, but most people then should be wiped clean, though someone should save the last map (I have fairly recent copies of it saved) for memory sake. Yeah, I'll vote for clearing them off.
Republic of Red Iberic Workers Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Don?t delete my plot... I?m alive. Or you count on me for new maps... The problem is that I have to work hard in these months but I keep in mind new posts with new data of my country... And, is here any controversy about cybernations? Greetings. Republic of Red Iberic Workers.
Cypriceos Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Can I make some imput: The problem with this map rules is it is too oriented for veteran members. I can understand the problems with a person coming requesting 5 plots and then ceasing to exist because I was once a cartographer for Americana which is a dead region now I had to deal with that stuff But what about a veteran player who comes here and wants to contribute to the region. A 1.5 billion nation should not be stuck with 1 plot only and a person with a large numbers of posts for their profile doesn't mean "oooh veteran good player". I've seen people with 50 posts only contribute more to a region than the guy with 1,000 posts. New members will get bored fast and leave because they feel that there is no way to contribute here. You need to open up more to new members. You know give the region a fresh start. That's my 2 cents
Republic of Red Iberic Workers Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I?m with Cyp... Obtaining one plot is easy for a new member but the way to obtain the second plot or more is a very long way, with much population and many posts... Maybe these requests discourage new members, for example, I admit that is very difficult to obtain my second plot.
Cypriceos Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Or lower the requirements until activity picks up because the fun/games topics are dead so there is no way to get posts unless you like talking to yourself.
Deltannia Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I'm telling you, you've got to open this up to the outside. I'm sure there are random people floating across the internet who don't know about or are not interested in NationStates but want to roleplay. I mean, in essence, Europa and roleplaying is what made NationStates fun. If we could come up with our own sort of rule system, we could get it done without much trouble. Then we wouldn't have this problem with large and small nations, everything could be in terms of Europa standards.
Vocenae Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 I still say a mass PM to all members of Europa is still a good idea. I've been lurking around various regions that are centered around RP ever since Q-102 died last year. I think that we should reach out to regions that seem to be undergoing the same dying phase and ask them to join us in a regional and forum community in which Europans would interact with, say, Jethneans and they would interact with us. The best way to start would be to search out RP regions that are dying or almost dead and ask them to join us without feeling the pain of regional and identity loss because whatever they've created would carry over to here, and everything we've done would carry over to their forum. It would be like our entire regions would be embassies.
Deltannia Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 That sounds like a good idea except that in terms of roleplaying, we would either need to join them, or they us (preferably), and we'd have to start close to scratch with restarting things like the map, some of the history, etc, although we'd need to do this anyway.
Suverina Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Well we should invite other RP'ers, try to get the gang together as well. Than we should get a new map, start new RP's and forget about all RP's that have previously taken place. A new start with old and new players will be the best thing.
Emakera Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Honestly, NS can be somewhat boring, specially with very few people to roleplay it... so I fully support making a new map and getting people from other regions to roleplay with us.

I can say in all confidence that I was a part of the core group of Rp'ers in Jethnea that started the short but vibrant little streak we had. Part of the reason I moved this nation (Beautancus) here was because I was looking to experience something like that again, with a chance to rehash some of the things that I didn't like from the Jethnean Beautancus. A fair warning however, for most of Jethnea's RP'ing history, the tech level has been an ass-load higher than what it is here...so it might take me a bit to adjust on that level. Either way, here's a link to what I consider to be my most successful story, with a few minor hiccups along the way (mostly not my fault) The Voice of the Gods It's massive, but for any who take the time to read into it, particularly in the last half of it I promise it will be at least partially enjoyable.
Republic of Red Iberic Workers Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Honestly, NS can be somewhat boring, specially with very few people to roleplay it... so I fully support making a new map and getting people from other regions to roleplay with us. Another map? Noooooooo, I?m a new member with a very new territory in the map... I had to do 20 posts with my History, Leader, monuments, etc. Please, don?t change the map!!
Cabarria Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 If you guys seriously decide to make a new map, I'm going to have to bow out of doing it. I simply do not have anything resembling that kind of time with a 2-month-old, working full-time, and starting a class in a month and half.
Vocenae Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 Also keep in mind we don't have O to make us one that's quite as good as this one. We should stick with this one, since we wouldn't actually need a brand new map if we try to make a roleplaying hub. It would simply be as if Europa was a continent on a planent, with other regions having their maps serve as their own continent, that way no one on either side has to give up their map and what they are familiar with.
Beautancus Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 For what it's worth, I think that's a good idea (keeping the current map). It's plenty big to handle an influx of new nations. All I really have to do is surmount this massive post-count requirement...I love RP'ing but feel much less strongly about spamming.
Deltannia Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I never said we had to have a new map, I think that we just need to wipe most of it off. No, I don't think it'd be fair to stick that burden on anyone.
Cypriceos Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Old map it is. Hey is there anyway you can put cities on this map? If not that's fine.
Vocenae Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 The map before this one had all the cities and transportation routes on it. Trust me, it gets crowded and looks really messy. For the current map we adopted a 'Do It Yourself' approach, where you just add the cities, roadways, bases etc, to a national map of your nation. There's a thread about it near the bottom of the forum's page.
