Hanemar
Well, the event in the cricketing calendar has come around again. It's near the end of the second day of the 1st test, and Australia are in a very good position. They declared at 9/602. Ricky Ponting made 196, Michael Hussey 86 and Justin Langer 82. The poor old Poms simply couldn't take any wickets. Anderson is about as threatening as a fluffy cloud, Ashley Giles just isn't a wicket taker, Steve Harmison can't even hit the pitch let alone the stumps and only Andrew Flintoff looks like he knows what he's doing. And now Andrew Strauss is out c. Hussey b. McGrath. England 1/28. I think the Aussies will get the Ashes back. Edit: McGrath strikes again! Alastair Cook caught behind for 11. McGrath's on a hat-trick... but doesn't get it. Edited November 24, 2006 by Hanemar (see edit history) Link to comment
Tagmatium Rules
It's bloody ridiculous - if England invents a game, we're sh*t at it, I swear. Same with football, tenis and everything else. We should all start playing baseball and American football, maybe we'll win at them. Although I don't know why people would want to play rounders or rugby with pads... Link to comment
Hanemar
England need to drop Ashley Giles for the 2nd test and bring in Monty Panesar. They need a spinner who can take wickets, not just tie an end down. I guess England have gone with Giles because he can bat a bit, but is he the man to chase down 600? I think not. Losing Trescothick before the series hasn't done any good either. Alistair Cook looks out of his depth as an opener even though he is a respectable middle order batsman. Link to comment
Hanemar
Australia win the 1st test by 277 runs. England rolled over and died on the 5th day. The curse of the nervous nineties claimed Paul Collingwood and that knobhead Pietersen, and England were all out for something like 370. I'm looking forward to a more interesting test match in Adelaide. Surely England will have to come out firing and give the Aussies a bit of a scare. Link to comment
