Mongol-Swedes Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Alright, time to take the Privates out on another mindless field trip. Probably will be gone for a week, maybe pop in once in awhile. I can't make any definitive statements because I really don't know, and I don't think the higher-ups even know, for that matter.
Tamurin Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Well, have fun. And remember: We were all privates once...
Mongol-Swedes Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Actually, what I was trying to say was that I, as an NCO, think that what we might be going out to do is a waste of time...there's better training I can do with the Joes that doesn't require gutting the unit for a week when there's plenty of work that needs to get done.
Tamurin Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Well, as a former conscript "grunt", I can assure you, there's always something better to do. It seems to me that certain kinds of senior NCO's and officers just love getting out in the field and do some "field-stuff", even if it's a total waste of time. Maybe my point of view is not the best for evaluating this; I've never been on an actual mission; maybe it is useful to gain as much field experience at home as possible. But I often thought: Man, this is so completely useless...
Orioni Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Those German grunts better be prepared should Luxemburg ever decide to invade Belgium or something. Edit: Oops. "Active troops: 900 (approx.)"
Tamurin Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 900? Well, this is gonna be really tough... I hope the belgian Army can hold them off until the German grunts arrive...
Orioni Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I wouldn't count on it too much. With the *cough* cr?me de la cr?me *cough* of the Belgian military on foreign missions (Afghanistan, etc.) and the soon departing Lebanese warriors, I guess only a small bunch of our commando's will be left. Nothing those 900 supertrained Luxembourg special forces can't take care of.
Mongol-Swedes Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 For those wondering, I am back, for the time-being. I have to say this, though: The more I see us train, and the more I see other countries train, the more I realize how it is that our Army is better. Call it boasting or pride or whatever, but you just gotta see it to believe it.
Tamurin Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 @MS: No argument here. I saw the German and the American army train - there is definitely a difference. But maybe my experience was clouded by our prototypes... @O: Well, since the best of the best in Germany's army is also on missions (Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, etc etc), the crack commandos won't come to your rescue. But there's still enough artillery here and I learned something about artillery: Accuracy is not important... (Man, evil jokes...)
Suverina Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I have to say this, though: The more I see us train, and the more I see other countries train, the more I realize how it is that our Army is better. Call it boasting or pride or whatever, but you just gotta see it to believe it. I belive you. All that money you spend on your military must give something.
Mongol-Swedes Posted September 10, 2006 Author Posted September 10, 2006 Technically this is another FTX, so, no need to crowd with more 'topics'. I have been called up for a training exercise that will last for roughly a month's time starting later this week (exact details will be confirmed prior to my absence).
Tamurin Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Even more field-stuff... Well, I hope it's not too bad...
Orioni Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I belive you. All that money you spend on your military must give something. You've made an excellent point there my friend. Wiki? I really don't care much for that military Keynesianism, as it only works when war endures. We've got to have global peace at some point in our global history..
Mongol-Swedes Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 I will be leaving on the 14th of September. I've confirmed this with my NCO peers, as well as my 1st Sergeant (Hell, I even checked with the Operations Sergeant Major when he was in).
Mongol-Swedes Posted September 13, 2006 Author Posted September 13, 2006 Now THAT is the golden question...I'm gonna say roughly five weeks, give or a take a day or two (I don't think my brigade commander is even sure).
Mongol-Swedes Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Confirmed: I'm rolling today. See all y'all in October!
Mongol-Swedes Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! NEVER would the Army suffer so much incompetency if the true wisdom and experience of the NCO Corps were to be taken seriously... Sack this man, America!
