Tamurin Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 TO: EOS members, ministries of defense FROM: Ministry of Defense, Claudia Hartman RE: Exchange of military forces to increase alliance strength Dear colleagues, we'd like to propose the permanent exchange of military forces to increase the strength of our alliance. As you've noticed the tamurinian navy is a small coast defense navy with frigates, destroyers, minesweepers, small submarines and other small-scale warships. Our navy has defended Tamurin with great success in the past, but it doesn't stand a chance against an enemy with a capable blue water navy with carrier groups and nuclear powered submarines. We'd like to request that a member with a stronger Navy, perhaps Orioni or Miiros, would station a carrier group permanently in tamurinian waters to increase security here. In return, Tamurin has noticed that several members have a lack in air power. We'd offer the permanent stationing of one squadron of tamurinian aircrafts of your choosing (interceptors, fighter/bombers, navy anti-ship bombers) in your country. We would like to suggest that member nations exchange forces (army, navy, air force) that way, so our individual strengths cover our individual weaknesses, our nations come closer together and our individual forces begin to learn to work together. It is preferable to learn cooperation in peace-time rather than in war-time. I'd very much like to hear your thoughts on this. Regards, Claudia Hartman
Italgria Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 TO: Ministry of Defense, Claudia Hartman FROM: External Affairs & Ministry of Defense of Italgria To the esteemed government of Tamurin, We know our navy is a rather fragile one and compared to other nations in Europa it is weak. But although its weak it has gotten some of the most technological Los Angeles type atom submarines in Europa. We are a technological country and henceforth we build our technology in mostly every military equipment. We can, if you wish so, produce you 20 of this submarines in 1 year (NS weeks?). Please contact us if you are willing to accept our offer.
Tamurin Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 TO: External Affairs & Ministry of Defense of Italgria FROM: Ministry of Defense, Tamurin This is a very generous offer. But I have to decline it. Tamurin's navy doesn't possess the manpower or the know-how to use twenty or even one nuclear submarine at the moment. Also, such a vessel doesn't fit into our current scenarios of naval warfare. Nuclear submarines aren't very useful in coastline defense and they would be our only blue water vessels right now. But your offer made me think: How about joint maneuvers of the tamurinian and the italgrian navy? We could perform combat exercises between our navies. Tamurin's soldiers could gain experience in combat against blue water navies, while your soldiers could learn how to fight in shallow water against a coastline defense navy. We could also train to fight side-by-side and combine our strengths. I'd propose such maneuvers as soon as your nation has dealt with the current earthquake crisis and has resources for this. What do you think about that? Regards, Claudia Hartman
Italgria Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) TO: Ministry of Defense, Claudia Hartman FROM: External Affairs & Ministry of Defense of Italgria I have handed over the message to the president and was happy to hear about such a good suggestion. He is willing to accept your offer but has a petition to you. The government is really busy with San Agostino at the moment and such things as you proposed take lots of planning time. He would like to ask, if you could take over the planning of this until the troubles in San Agostino are gone. Edited July 3, 2006 by Italgria (see edit history)
Miiros Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 To: Tamurin Ministry of Defense, Claudia Hartman From: Miirosi Defense Ministry, John Haggerty RE: Exchange of military forces to increase alliance strength We Miirosi are very proud of our Armada and would be more than happy to station one or more carrier groups in Tamurinian waters as long as you wish them to stay. Since our Armada is currently undergoing rapid expansion due to a raising defense budget, do not hesitate to ask for additional ships. In exchange for this Miiros would gladly accept your offer of air support as our own air force is somewhat lacking. I hope to hear from you soon, Defense Minister Haggerty
Tamurin Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 TO: External Affairs & Ministry of Defense of Italgria FROM: Claudia Hartman, Ministry of Defense We will be happy to do the planning. We will wait until your troubles in San Agostino are over so that you and your soldiers can concentrate on the maneuver. OOC: We should make a little military RP about this maneuver. Could be interesting. ------------------------- TO: Miirosi Defense Ministry, John Haggerty FROM: Claudia Hartman, Ministry of Defense Dear esteemed colleague, thank you for you quick reply. Tamurin would be happy to have one carrier group in its waters. We lack capital ships and I don't think that, since we're now an alliance, none of the alliance areas should be without the protection of a carrier group. We'd be very happy to host your soldiers and ships in our naval port in Hlondeth. Facilities are available, it's a very large base. In return we're happy to provide you with air cover. We can provide you with a full squadron (36 aircrafts) of various types. A fighter/interceptor squadron would use Tornados, a fighter/bomber squad a modified Tornado, a heavy fighter/bomber squad a modified F-111 and a navy attack squad the A-7 "Corsair II". Despite the type of squadron you'd prefer it would be completed with six Transall transport aircraft, one E-3 "AWACS"-Command & Control aircraft and two E-2C "Hawkeye" airborne early warning command aircraft. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Best wishes, Claudia Hartman
Orioni Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 TO: Claudia Hartman, Ministry of Defense, Tamurin FROM: Imperial Command Center, O'polis Military command has decided that we would gladly send a imperial navy taksgroup to protect your waters. If possible, we would like to host several of your interceptors to protect and further secure our southern coastline. Perhaps some joint wargames would be a good idea. It would help the new alliance work together and teach us about our own strengths and weaknesses. OOC: When are we building the HQ on island 0.38? It could be a good location from which to coordinate joint efforts. We'd need an RP to get is started, and some to for it to be actually built.
Tamurin Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 TO: Imperial Command Center, O'polis FROM: Claudia Hartman, Ministry of Defense, Tamurin Thank you for the positive answer to our request. We will gladly host your task group. To improve the conditions for your soldiers, we'll send the orioni task group to cover the southern flank while the task group from Miiros will cover the northern flank. To cover your southern coast line we'll send you a mixed group of one interceptor squad, one fighter/bomber squad and several E-2C "Hawkeyes" for monitoring. I welcome the idea of joint wargames. We should definitely talk about this further. OOC: Well, we should do that soon. How about this? This has always been a very autonomous part of Orioni and due to emigration the population offers the island to the Orioni military to improve tax income and maybe immigration to the island. The Orioni military decides to offer this area to EOS - and we'll build a brand new headquarters.
Miiros Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 To: Tamurin Ministry of Defense, Claudia Hartman From: Miirosi Defense Ministry, John Haggerty This is good news and will most certainly strengthen Miiros and Tamurin, therefore making EOS stronger as a whole. We will begin prepping a special carrier group for departure to Hlondeth at once. We will upload information on this group shortly. OOC: I have to finish working out my navy specs still, so I'll send you information on what you're getting soon. Also, I would love to play a large role in constructing the EOS base since my nation specializes in large-scale building.
Tamurin Posted July 6, 2006 Author Posted July 6, 2006 OOC: Great idea. This base-creation should be done by as many EOS members as possible... In the last days I've worked out my Air Corps specs, so if you tell me, what squad you'd like to have you'll get a detailed description. -------------- ---- Voice of the Republic ---- Tamurin air defense in Orioni Today a mixed group of the Naval Air Force landed in southern Orioni. This group (Task Group Orioni) will defend the southern coastline of Orioni and assist the allied Air Force and Navy. The mixed group consists of one squadron of Tornado interceptors, one squadron of A-6 "Intruders" and four E-2C "Hawkeyes" monitoring aircraft. The first line of defense - Tornado interceptors covering the sky over southern Orioni Come get some - Intruders on a training mission. In case of a conflict scenario these fighter/bombers would attack enemy ships or other enemy naval targets The "eye in the sky" - Hawkeyes always on the lookout for anything that doesn't belong where it is The new commander is Brigadier General Martin Steinhoff. Asked about the age of the aircraft he answered: "Well, this is a question the tamurinian Air Corps has to answer over and over again. Yes, we don't have the newest aircrafts. And no, we don't think that this is any disadvantage. Get me twenty Intruders and I'll sink you every carrier in this world. No carrier can defend itself against eighty anti-ship missiles simultaneously. Navy commanders like to pretend they can, but they cannot. And yes, we have problems with detecting stealth aircraft with our radar systems. But once they activate their own on-board radar, we can detect the emissions of their radar and target it. In every scenario, EOS is the defending part of a war, so we can allow ourselves to wait and let the enemy come. He has to activate his radar at some point during a mission - and that is the moment we come in."

Tamurin Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 TO: Miirosi Defense Ministry, John Haggerty FROM: Ministry of Defense, Tamurin, Claudia Hartman Dear collegue, thank you for your information. This impressive Carrier Battle Group will surely provide the protection the sea in the northern part of Tamurin and the sea between Tamurin and Miiros will need. Again we thank you for your assistance and welcome your soldiers in our nation. Regards, Claudia Hartman
Orioni Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 TO: Claudia Hartman, Ministry of Defense, Tamurin FROM: Imperial Command Center, O'polis Carrier Group Delta has left Vega and is heading for southern Tamurin waters. Several submarines are also on their way. We will work together with the Miirosi carrier group to coordinate our actions. TO: Miirosi Defense Ministry, John Haggerty FROM: Imperial Command Center, O'polis With both our carrier groups patrolling Tamurin waters, it would be good to make sure we don't sail into each others way. We would like to suggest that your CG defends the northwest, while ours keeps the southwest safe. (No reply will be seen as a yes.)
