Damak Var
My school is in the 4a league. The team has weight lifting through july, and practices in august then the regular season in september. I think this is going to be a good season if our offensive line and 1000 yard halfback as a sophmore (junior now) gets their grades up so they can play. Since our team is run heavy on offense. We also have the best defense in the SPSL, which is a 5-2. Last year we had a kick ass all-league defensive tackle who ate QB's for breakfast. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Does anybody like american football? Edited June 12, 2006 by BlackJackEmperor (see edit history) Link to comment
Nan Gorgwaith
Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Does anybody like american football? Yes and Yes, but, Football season is still a little over 2 months away and, American football is not real popular in the rest of the world, let alone High School football. Good that you have a great defense though. Remember defense wins championships. (since my school won the national in 2002) Link to comment
Damak Var
I know its two months away, but my team started practice last week. High school football is actually very popular in the US but it depends on schools spirit. There are large stadiums as well for high school football (just not as big as college and NFL). They also put high school standings on television, and on the newspapers. You would be surprised how popular it gets in some states. I know Texas goes crazy over high school football. In LA I heard the police are on high alert on game nights because riots start. Edited June 12, 2006 by BlackJackEmperor (see edit history) Link to comment
Nan Gorgwaith
Oh, I know how popular it is in the US. I was referring to those outside the country, who make up many who post here. As it is, I am from Ohio, "Cradle of Coaches" and we generally go football crazy from high school on up every year. Heck, OSU's Spring scrimmage had over 50,000 in attendence. Link to comment
Damak Var
I see what you mean. But I thought people don't really give a damn about football in the rest of the world and that the sport only exists (with organized league's) in the US. Or am I wrong? Are there organized football leagues outside the US? Link to comment
Nan Gorgwaith
Yeah, we have had NFL Europe since like the 1990s. The Frankfurt Galaxy have won the whole thing the last 4 years in a row. Many of the players are from the US though. It is like sending players to the Minors in Baseball. Teams in the NFL have players they want to keep or have get more experience, so they send them overseas during the Europe Season and get them back in time for the NFL the next year. That is different then the Arena League Football, which is more of a semi-pro type thing. Anyway, I have no idea how popular it is with the Europeans, since they are fanatical soccer fans. Here is a link to it. http://www.nfleurope.com/ Edited June 13, 2006 by Nan Gorgwaith (see edit history) Link to comment
Damak Var
Everybody but the US loves soccer, which is fine by me. Lol, let me guess, they have Galaxy and the Centurions... I always wondered were these teams were from on Madden if you all know what that is. Link to comment
