Orioni
Weather satelittes high above Europa took these infrared images of our region. After applying several filters, the were able to discover a new threat. The area's in RED are threatened by floods if the melting of polar caps keeps continuing. Something needs to be done! ย Link to comment
Deltannia
I'd definitely be affected first, being so far up north (the northern most nation I believe). Awesome! Are we definitely in for this horrible destruction (floods sink Deltannian ships... yummy...) Link to comment
Haken
Wow, not much Tinian left to fight over... ย My nation would be cut in half! Link to comment
Orioni
This is not a real quest for an RP, I just wanted to show what could happen. Link to comment
Rennd
yaya! ย Thank the lord for the mountains near rennd, only a teeny weeny bit will be affected Link to comment
Londim
Yay I wouldn't be affected at all. Huzzah! Link to comment
Adaptus
Bloody hell thats my whole nations particly. But this would be a hard RP to go by. I'm not sure if it's something good to RP since the RL world still have not thought of a way to combat this. Link to comment

Ide Jima
Uh oh... ย All major centres of population in the south of my country are under water. ย Tinian would have to become a naval battleground ย edit: I wouldn't want to be BI... Link to comment
Italgria
Well my nation would nearly not be affected at all! woza! But the plot i was thinking to expand to woukd Link to comment
Vocenae
Actually, I'd be interested in doing a rp about this perhaps in the future/past sub-forum. ย The whole thing reminds me of the Greenhouse Cliff that Ben Bova uses to provide a reason for humanity to expand into space in his Grand Tour series. Colossal hurricanes, tsunamis, massive flooding and a massive environment change that destroys the region's power grid and sends most of the industrial centers underwater forever. ย This would cause humanity to look towards developing better technology for surviving in space for long periods of time, and using the natural resources of the solar system to rebuild the region. Powersats for collecting solar energy, mass drivers for launching fusion cell mined from the lunar regolith from the surface of the moon, moonbases, massive elevators that connect to satallites in orbit for cheap importing of materials, asteroid mining and alot of other things I'm forgetting at the moment. ย Another thing would be the government changes that would have to try to adapt to the floods and natural disasters. Riots would most likely cripple any infastructure the affected nations would have left and democratic governments would be forced to become authoritarian. Not to mention terrorist groups and any other organizations that would try to seize power. ย All in all, the idea holds alot of promise. Link to comment
Damak Var
Well I already got a police state going on Link to comment
Nan Gorgwaith
Hmm, I would only lose a sliver of coast. No big deal for land loss, but I am sure it would cause all sorts of other problems. Link to comment
Vocenae
I'm game if anyone else would like to do this. Link to comment
Tagmatium Rules
Would this be set in the future, as I don't think I want to be involved, but a region-wide catastrophe sort of implies that everyone has to be. Link to comment
Ide Jima
It'd be a bit like waterworld. Link to comment
Tamurin
That would be unfair. I'd lose most of my country, including most major cities (coast!!). Tamurin would be a crippled wreck... Link to comment
Ide Jima
Like it isn't already after those lefties came to power Link to comment
Tamurin
Couldn't help it. After so much support... Link to comment
Vocenae
You all think you've got it bad, as of right now all I would have would be a couple of hills above the water! Link to comment
Damak Var
I like this RP, but what would be our solution to the flooding? Something sci-fi? Or is there none and we just RP what would happen? ย Maybe Emperor Justinus of Damak Var goes crazy and nukes the polar ice caps just to be a punk and makes the situation even worse!!! just kidding Edited June 15, 2006 by BlackJackEmperor (see edit history) Link to comment
Vocenae
Well, hydralic sea walls and massive pumping stations would be used to trying to hault the flooding and trying to reclaim the flooded ares through the use of massive pumping stations, like how they got rid of the water in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. ย As for trying to stop the global flooding, there's no answer without getting crazily sci-fi. The nations would have to adapt to the new climates and waterways in whatever why they could, be it through technology or government changes. ย Link to comment
