He kept it short and sweet. "Today i am pleased to announce a increase in funding for our defence". This year's defence programme was to offer "protection for our small nation" in the president's words. The funding has increased by roughly 30 million USD and the government has allocated 11% of its total revenue to defence compared with 8% the previous year. However spending on the environment has fallen from 9% to 7% this year to fund the military expansion.  "The first ever submarine has been built yesterday, and this is just a sample of what is to come in the next few years to ensure your safety." said the president triamphantly  Income tax has stayed level at 84% and is not expected to rise, although the president did raise taxes from 45% to 84% last year.  The government has also appointed a catholic archbishop to increase the religion and spirituality of the nation. "It is very important to be religous, announced the president". Rennd Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 *Start Transmission*  Hello, this is Rennd national news,  Port Laiz Shaken  Today at 6:55AM , A small earthquake struck 50 miles north of port laiz with a magnitude of 5.5.  The earthquake, awoke many people in the northern division of port laiz. Its effects were not dire. 4 people are believed to be injured, although at the moment there seems to be no official deaths confirmed. The structural damage was minimal. A few huts in the villiage of Karaz 60 miles north east from port laiz were destroyed and about a dozen buildings in port laiz collapsed.  Overall the effects are not dire. Rennd has escaped this time from the clutches of nature. It has been lucky and the earthquake was nothing like the earthquake in 1974 where 500,000 were wounded and 17,000 offically proclaimed dead.  President Drogogli had a few words to say about the earthquake. "Rennd, has escaped." he said in a relieved tone. Archbishop Yussef, Minister of religion said "God has shown his wrath today, but he has spared our lives" Churches everywhere are praying for the 4 confirmed injured casualties  Thats all for now, we will keep you posted on any other important events for the country . Â The people of plot 81, who were distant villages up until now have agreed to unite to form a whole country. This fantastic news sent shockwaves of happiness in many major cities such as krillioth. Onyx has now been declared the capital of Rennd. Â Today the streets of onyx were filled with celebration and a parade of the country's troops. Archbishop Yussef states that " God has shown us the future, and it is a united one". There are hopes that the country of Rennd is going to have a bright religous and most importantly a safe future. Â There have been mounting rumours that a Minister has gone missing for some reason or another. The rumours suggest that the minister went missing on yesterday in the mid afternoon. These are still rumours and there are still no concrete evidence to suggest this is true. Earlier today RNN interviewed President Dictator Drogogli to see what he had to say about these matters. Â "All of my ministers are safe and are not missing!" he said angrily. "This is just a political scandal to make me seem less popular". The president seemed a little touchy about the subject. It could all be an untrue rumour, or it could actually be a truth hidden in all of this. Â However, the rumours are still after all only rumours. Noone knows who the missing minister is, if there is a missing minister or what happened to him. Â Thats all for now, we will keep you posted on any other important events for the country . Â A huge deltanian fleet as emerged and is in visible striking range of rennd's forces. It's mission is peace and it is defending its naval outpost. Â From this position, the Admiral has decided to not provoke the opposing forces, and to temperorily halt all military ships. The admiral has allowed a small destroyer with only missionaries on it to encourage companies to leave. Â Thats all for now, we will keep you posted on any other important events for the country . Rennd Posted July 4, 2006 Author Posted July 4, 2006 *Start transmission*  Hello, and welcome to Rennd National News  Population Milestone  Today Rennd has offically reached a population of 300 million, and massive celebrations have broken out on the streets of Rennd.  Nuclear race  Renndian government today announced that the government is going to carry out massive nuclear research into nuclear power and find other uses for nuclear energy.  We spoke to president drogogli this morning, and this is what he had to say.  "Our country needs to be looking into uses for nuclear energy, and needs to keep up with the demands of modern society"  He defended claims that they were developing nuclear weapons, and said that nuclear weapons are not to be developed at this early stage, and that they are "damaging to the environment"  He also added...  "We are not considering nuclear weapons at the moment, but may do so in the future, when we have established our nation"  It seemed unlikely that any nuclear weapons would develop at the moment. Rennd Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 *Start transmisson*  Good evening, this is Rennd National News.  Onyx in flames  Key targets in the capital have been set on fire today by angry anti-war protestors. A bank and a police station were in flames in western onyx, by this violent mob. Though unconfirmed, there is mounting evidence to suggest that there was a plan to set The Parlimentary Dome on fire today, but that this failed. The capital has been spared just barely by these antiwar protestors, and we can be certain there will be more violence to come if this war continues.  Rumours of a possible fair peace solution  There have been rumours about talks today in The Parlimentary Dome about a possible ceasefire to end hostilities between our nation and our enemies. The rumours suggest that a government survey will determine whether or not people still support the war in tarragat island, and if the majority are against the war, the government may consider a ceasefire.  Suverinian troops going to tarragat  Rennd's proud allies have today granted permission to fly suverinian reinforcements into tarragat island.
