Vocenae
VOCENAE IMPERIAL NEWS NETWORK  Imperial Council Praises Workers, Announces Revised Worker's Codex  VOCIA: In the capital today, the Imperial Council praised the workers of Vocenae for it's newly revitalized economy and has decreed that a National Workers Day will be set aside in honor of the working class. The Imperial Council has also announced that it will be updating the poorly outdated Worker's Health and Safety Codex, which forces all businesses and corporations to guarantee worker's a safe working environment. Although still undergoing the new revisions, officials state that the new amendments to the Codex will take effect as soon it is released. Corporate reactions were ranged from shocked to furious, although tensions were relaxed somewhat when the Imperial Council stated it will work with corporations and businesses to help them prepare for the much more strict guidlines in the new Codex.  Strange Sounds in Northern Vocenae  ELYSIA CITY: Vocians in the northern areas of the country were in a state of confusion as loud explosions sounded out from the skies. At first, these were counted off as merely training runs from jet fighters stationed at Fort Joe Smith Airbase The noises continued for about an hour and a half, before they ceased. When approched by local law enforcement and several press members, base officials stated that there were no training or patrol flights scheduled during the time and that intense radar scanning proved that Vocian airspace had not been penetrated. This brings up questions as to who or what were causing the noises, and why the military did not investigate. INN will be keeping track of of this story as it develops.  Vocish Rapidly Becoming Obsolete, Experts Say  CELESTE: After a series of nation-wide surveys and observation, leading researchers at the Terriance Institute, one of the nation's largest universities, have confirmed a rapid drop of use of Vocish, the natural language of Vocenae, among youger generations. "The fact is that foreign influence is driving most Vocians under 30 to use slang forms of Vocish, or other languages entirely" said Josan Dari, one of the lead researchers on the project, "While it is encouraging to see the younger generations of our society learning new languages, it should not be at the expense of our cultural identity". Hopefully the school system or the government can help stop this decline and bring our national language back to the forefront.  This has been Ressa Valoros for the Vocenae Imperial News Network. Rekamgil
In an effort to foster the spread of our languages, our minister of Education has suggested that Rekamgil and Vocenae - two great allies - set up a permanent student exchange program at all levels. We hope that by doing so, students will learn the national language of each others' nations and we also hope that, overall, the existence of such a program will highlight for people in both nations that very great importance of education and language. Â The government of Rekamgil has, in the past, constructed 2 state-owned cruise ships (which allow us to send people on occasional subsidized cruises, since we feel that everyone deserves a vacation, plus we can send our soldiers on well deserved trips, and the ships have even come in usefu when "Hannibal" struck Rhomanoi - we sent one of our great ships to house over 1000 displaced persons). We suggest, therefore, that we use one of our ships - RPS Peace Ship - to ferry the students back and forth (we are sure they would enjoy that) but at the same time, we can set up some innovative science lessons along the way (expecially marine related since the studnets will be able to get into SCUBA gear and swim in the ocean with the animals, etc...). Â We think that such an exchange program will lead to an increased interest in education and, if we make language the main focus of this education, will increase the proper use of our languages. True your students will be learning our language (and ours will learn yours), but we believe that they will learn the value of language and will come to appreciate their own tongue more, through learning another. Â We propose to call this the: Vocenae-Rekamgil Exchange Program for the Enhancement of Language Studies (VREPELS) and propose that we split admin costs 50-50. The Dominion of Rekamgil, however, offers to pay for all transport for both nation's students and teachers when on board our vessels. We suggest that about 50 students from each year-level of schooling be allowed to go on exchange (which will mean about 600-700 students from each nation each year). All students wishing to go must submit an application as they would normally for a scholarship. Only the most deserving will be allowed to take part... but we feel more than simply scholastic merit should be used for ealuation. We should also look at the student's level of community activity, and family situation. Link to comment
Vocenae
TO: Rekamgil FROM: The Imperial Council SUBJECT: "VREPELS" Â We look forward to commencing another successful venture with our ally. Â VOCENAE IMPERIAL NEWS NETWORK Â CONSTRUCTION ON CIS INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS BEGINS Â VOCIA: Construction began on the new CIS International Headquarters today, bringing with it a new era of improved foreign relations and the promotion of peace and equality for Vocenae, its CIS allys, and the rest of Europa. The Dominion of Rekamgil, Vocenae's closest ally and fellow CIS Governing Council member has donated $3 million in international funds to help the project get underway. Â The initial idea of constructing a CIS headquarters was proposed to the Imperial Council by Vocenae's CIS Adjutant, which approved of the idea and was subsequently proposed to the member nations of the CIS. Â Construction will take several months to complete, and until then the CIS Governing Council shall remain as it has in the past. Â STRANGE NOISES RETURN, GOVERNMENT DENIES ALL CLAIMS Â ELYSIA CITY: The strange noises that frightened civilians and insighted a near mass panic in the northern areas of Vocenae have returned. The government officials are fiercely denying and condeming all reports, citing them as unofficial and false. Currently officials refuse to speak to the media, which have led to rumors running rampant. Many websites have appeared pronouncing the return of the 'Ilia' spacecraft encountered years ago by many nations of Europa, and amateur photographers have arrived in the area, looking to find solid proof of whatever is going on in the north. Â CONCERT SEASON GOES INTERNATIONAL Â CELESTE: The long winter cold has finally lifted off of Vocenae and with the warm weather returning, so are the eager crowds of Vocians ready to enjoy the summer season with massive concerts. However, breaking the long tradition of only allowing Vocian bands to play during the season, both corporate and goverment sponsors are encouraging foreign bands to travel to our great nation, and partake in the festivities. Our friends in the World of Pirilao have announced they will be touring Vocenae during this time, and our ally Rekamgil has promised that both classical orchestras and Rekamgil-reknowned rock bands will be attending. Vocenae
VOCENAE IMPERIAL NEWS NETWORK  Imperial Armed Forces Undergoes Refit, Mobile Infantry Expanded  ARCO: The Imperial Council announced today that Vocenae's military is to be systematically upgraded, starting with the Mobile Infantry, which is Vocenae's primary line of defense against hostiles. General Evso Lotoris had this to say to members of the Press: "It has been a long time in coming, but with the of military tensions throughout Europa, our military must be up to par with even the largest of superpowers, if we wish to survive any conflicts that may befall our great nation". Undisclosed sources tell us that other areas of the Armed Forces may have been undergoing upgrades for almost a full year. We will continue to watch this story as the upgrades begin.  University Students Missing  CELESTE: Three freshmen and one sophmore from Southern Vocenae University have been reported as missing after a week of no contact between both family and friends. Terras Colos, 20, Rila Vornam, 19, Mikal Xalorse, 22, and Brecca Tasservus, 20, were last seen together in Dantana National Park, located directly outside of the city of Celeste. The three females and the single male were supposedly picking out camping areas in the park for a weekend of rock climbing, friends told authorities. As of right now a search and rescue team is currently combing the park for the students. We here at VINN pray for their safe return, and shall be keeping you up to date as the story unfolds.  This is Ressa Valoros for VINN. Link to comment
Vocenae
VOCENAE IMPERIAL NEWS NETWORK  Air Force Hires Freelancers  ARCO: As part of the Imperial Armed Forces Refit program, the Air Force has hired several freelance fighter squadrons to help train new recruits. Officials, when questioned about this unorthadox move, had this to say: "Years of near inactivity has softened our veterans to the point where they can no longer be a reliable source of training for the new recruits. As part of the Refit program, these freelancers will train new pilots so that they will be a powerful defensive force, and, if in the rare chance that Vocenae should ever go to war with another nation, a effective offensive force on the battlefield". As always, VINN will continue to keep you up to date with this story.  Body of Missing Student Found  INDRINI: After four days of intense searching in the wilderness between the southern city of Celeste and Indrini, the body of Mikal Xalorse has been found. The twenty-two year old student, one out of a group of four that have been missing since earlier this week, was found eviscerated, partially skinned, and hanging from a tree near the southern most suburbs of Indrini. Mikal's remains were found by a volunteer civilian search party, who contacted the Indrini Central Police Department as soon as the stumbled upon the body of the student. Authorities have now stepped up the search for the remaining three students, Terras Colos, Rila Vornam, and Brecca Tasservus in the hopes of finding them alive in what now seems to be a chase for a killer. Police are now urging that all civilian co-ordinators and volunteer personnel return home in the face of this development.  For VINN, I'm Ressa Valoros. Vocenae
Vocenae Imperial News Network  Armed Forces Refit Program Comes Under Fire  VOCIA: The Armed Forces Refit Program, AFRP, is under fire in the Imperial Council today as the Pacisfist Bloc of the Council gathers strength from government officials and almost a fourth of the Vocian people. "We are only bringing ourselves into the limelight by increasing the size of our military!" said Councilman Falon Uniot, leader of the Pacifist Bloc, "We will appear as a threat by those nations in the region that may have paranoid delusions, and will only open ourselves to an inevitable invasion!". While the Pacifists garner support to shut down the AFRP, the War Party that initially proposed and almost single-handedly pressed the issue into service, has found itself losing many alliances that it once had in the Council, and has refused to comment. The future of the AFRP all depends on if the War Party can come back from this blow and once again rally enough support to keep the program running. We will keep you up to date as the political battle rages in the capitol.  Hunt For Murderor/Kidnapper Increases  INDRINI: Today the body of Brecca Tasservus, one of the remaining university students kidnapped on the 4th, was found in Indrini's industrial sector, locked inside a water filled container. She is the second victim of the unknown killer, the first being Mikal Xalorse, whose body was found yesterday just outside the city. Brecca, a twenty year old freshman of the Southern Vocenae University located in Celeste, was said to be a good friend and loving daughter, and she will be missed terribly by family and friends. Footage of the crime scene has shown that this seemed to be a lair for the killer, with obvious ammentities and comforts like running water and electricity. Authorities have also informed the press that the abandoned warehouse has several sub-basements, and apparently connects to the city sewar system. A SWAT team is preparing to enter the first sub-basement while the search continues to expand in both range and manpower. The brutal slayings have instilled a wave of fear in the central city, understandably, and many parents have been seen today escorting children and teenagers to and from school. We will keep you up to date as the story develops.   For VINN, I'm Ressa Valoros. Link to comment
Vocenae
Vocenae Imperial News Network  War Party Continues To Face Pacifist Opposition  VOCIA: Vocenae's War Party has continued to lose backing in the Imperial Council chambers today as the Pacifist Bloc adds the Mercantilists to its list of political parties against the Armed Forces Refit Program. Almost half the Council is opposed to the program now, and the War Party may be outvoted by majority within the next few days if it cannot gain the support of the rest of the Council.  Suprisingly enough the Technologists, the Council's largest party, have not lent support to either side, and seem to be ignoring the issue all together.  Other than the political battle rages in the capitol, the Empire has been relatively quiet today.  For VINN, I'm Ressa Valoros.  OOC: W00t, 100th post! Edited May 10, 2006 by Vocenae (see edit history) Link to comment
Vocenae
Vocenae Imperial News Network  CIS International Headquarters Nears Completion  VOCIA: The Commonwealth of Independant States International Headquarters is in the final stages of completion, and officials state that it will be open to allied delegates within the next two days. The funding for the CIS building, proposed several months ago by Vocenae's CIS representatives and approved by the old Governing Council, was generously supplied by the governments of the Dominion of Rekamgil, the Great United Kingdom, and The Social Alliance of Mongol-Swedes. Each donated millions of international funds to the project, as well as additional multi-media equipment.  However, the CIS building will open nearly a month behind schedule due to the design conflicts that arose early on during the construction.  The Imperial Council is expected to make an announcement later today about this accomplishment.  War Party Finally Breaks Through Pacifist Bloc  After more than a month of fierce opposition, the War Party has finally gathered the support of the Technologist Party. With the backing of the larger party, the War Party has gathered enough Imperial Council members to constitute a voting majority in the Council chambers. War Party officials wasted no time in pushing the Armed Forces Refit Program (AFRP) through the political arena. The Program is now active once again, and will remain active until modernization of the Imperial Armed Forces complete.  For VINN, I'm Ressa Valoros. Vocenae
Â TRAGEDY STRIKES NATION Â VOCIA: Grief has gripped the nation today after police announced the victims of the high profile murder several days ago. The nation's international Adjutant, Stingra Thysan, is dead at the age of 35. Police have determined that it was a case domestic homicide, brought about by mental instability in his noblewomen fiance, Katriana Thelsamar, who apparently killed herself soon after, leaving a note for police claiming she murdered her fiance. Thelsamar, 27, had a history of violent fits of rage, and was hospitalized several times due to injuries inflicted upon herself. The murder was reported by hotel staff after a maid entered the room for routine housekeeping. Â ... Â We've just gotten word that a representative from the Imperial Council is making an announcement, we take you live to the scene. Â "...day is a day of mourning. We have lost the nation's brightest son to the darkness of death. Although he was young, Stingra had the wisdom and drive of a politician twenty years his senior. He was incorruptable, and always put Vocenae and peace at the forfront of whatever he did. But the Imperial Council will not let death deter his dream of a peaceful Europa. We will continue our efforts as a CIS nation, we will help bring peace to Tinian, and from there we shall redouble our efforts to help Stingra Thysan, the Adjutant, sleep soundly wherever his soul may be now. Thank you." Â ... Â For those of you just tuning in, that was an official from the Imperial Council assuring the public that it will not let the death of Adjutant Stingra Thysan mar his vision of a peaceful Europa. Ravenhelm
Affiliated Press (AP) Â Reporter: We're now live at Sirecrest Hall with Chairman of the Executive Council of Ravenhelm, Mr. Manelin Zanthe. Â ZANTHE: I cannot express how much sympathy we feel for the good people of Vocenae regarding their loss. Truly, the murder of Mr. Thysan is unforgivable, for he was indeed an enlightened young politician of perspicacity and peace. To realize that a man of such good-hearted will and who held such a promising future is lost to us is truly heartrending. I believe, however, that his spirit will always live on in Vocenae, and Europa as well. We are forever sorry for your loss, Vocenae, and we mourn alongside your citizens. May Stringra Thysan rest in peace. The following words are addressed directly to the government of Vocenae: If there is anything at all the Corporate Order of Ravenhelm can do to assist or comfort your nation through this time of mourning, please inform as at once, for we are at your service. Â Let us now observe a moment of silence in memory of Stringra Thysan. Â Thank you. Link to comment
