Blueport
Greetings to our fellow nations in Europa! Â The Democratic States of Blueport is a huge, devout nation, renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 203 million (as of 04-09-06) have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. Â The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- juggles the competing demands of Defence, Social Welfare, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 40%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Gambling and Uranium Mining. Â Blueport's government is a two-party democracy is ruled by a prime minister elected by the majority of a unicameral parliament. The parliament has 140 seats divided equally to Blueport's seven states (Athenea, Providence, Duke Island, West Athenea, San Pedro, Moroland and Huntsville). The nation's capital, Blueport City, is located in Athenea. The current prime minister is Tony Smith from the ruling Social Democrats Party. Â Schools have extensive counseling programs for troubled students, the government is spending millions on renovating the public transportation system, protests are legal but strictly supervised, and drunk drivers are sent to rehabilitation paid for by the government. Crime is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Blueport's national animal is the Blue Dolphin and its currency is the Porter.
