Public places smoking ban: will it encourage people to give up?

Smokers in Scotland's pubs and restaurants will light up for the first time this weekend as the smoking ban in all enclosed public places comes into force. From 6 am on Sunday (March 26), any business flouting the ban or not displaying warning notices will face a fine of ?200. Individuals caught smoking could be hit with a ?50 penalty. In England, a similar ban will be enforced in 2007.Ireland and Norway have introduced nationwide ban on smoking in restaurants and bars in 2004.
