Rhomanoi Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Official Imperial Communique Today, at 10:37 local time, the large winter storm formally known as 'Hannibal' made landfall on our eastern coastline, 10km from the city of Nea Thessalonika. The resulting damage from this monster storm is extensive, and has left upwards of 200 people dead and many hundreds more injured. The infrastructure of the Chalcidice theme has been heavily damaged in the storm, and the heavy rains are raising the risk of river flooding in many low-lying regions along the coast. The principal port town in the region, Naxiona, has been blocked with sand and the highway through the region is blocked with debris. As a result of this storm, the Imperial government has found its resources stretched to near breaking point by the demands of the affected region. Therefore, we are formally appealing to the international community at large or aid. We will accept aid from NGOs' or governments. We principally need food, tents, blankets and medical equipment. Medical and engineering staff and their equipment are also required, and the deployment of military units with these powers is acceptable. At this moment in time, we can handle the security situation, which is very calm, though if any wider-scale disturbances bubble up, then we may require military assistance to bring it under control.
Tagmatium Rules Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 To: the Grand Empire of Rhomanoi From: the Greater Holy Empire of Tagmatium Re: Aid Honoured brethren, Aid is being collected as this message is being written. The first aircraft will be dispatched as soon as possible, but we must know if there are suitable landing sights for our aeroplanes, as this storm does appear to have wide impact across Rhomanoi. We will ready army units to provide manpower as well as expertise in engineering and field medicine, but as you can imagine, these will take a long time to get to the area in question, due to the scale of the distance between our two nations.
Deltannia Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 FROM: Deltannia TO: Rhomanoi If any aid is required, Deltannian relief forces are on standby and ready to be sent in with supplies.

Rekamgil Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 You are most welcome. We are happy to help. Out units are now operating in Rhomanoi. Our government news agency has sent a television and radio crew to cover the work of our troops and workers. A one hour expose was broadcast to the nation last night and everyone here is proud of our men and women in the field. Our citizens have been moved by your plight and have tried to organize a civilian relief effort with man and women of all ages sgning up to go to Rhomanoi. The government has dissuaded them from actually travelling to Rhomanoi since we feel you probably already have enough to deal with without Rekamgil citizens roaming around trying to help! We have suggested that the donate the money they would normally spend in airfare, etc. to the relief fund we have established. We have promised that the government will match the amount raised by the citizens and will forward the fund to you once it has been collected. Good luck again, and please don't hesitate to ask for any assistance we can render.

Akiiryu Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 To: Rhomanoi From: SPA We apologise for the delay in commications. With the crisis in Hidaya Miliki at an end the Baronic Council would like to offer the aid of the Royal Akiiryan Navy's Northern Fleet (which had been deployed to the south of your nation). This fleet includes a number of hospital ships as well as a detachment of 7500 marines. In addition Akiiryu is willing to airlift in other supplies as required.
Rekamgil Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Rekamgil is pleased to note that - despite the bad circumstances - we will have the opportunity to work alongside nations with whom we have had limited or strained relations. We are happy to be working alongside Tagmatium, Ide Jima, Italgria, Akiiryu, Pirilao, Miiros, the new US government, and of course Rhomanoi... We hope such cooperation bodes well for our future relations.
Upper Strathyclyde Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 For future referrence, please refer to our Government, as the People of Upper Strathyclyde, or simply the US people, since they are in all effects, the actual governments. The People's council is merely a soundboard. We hope this broadens your understanding of our evolving nation.
Tagmatium Rules Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 We are happy to be working alongside Tagmatium, Ide Jima, Italgria, Akiiryu, Pirilao, Miiros, the new US government, and of course Rhomanoi... Rhomanoi Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Official Imperial Communique May we first of all extend our thanks to the nations of Pirilao and Akiiryu for their offers of aid, and hereby accept these offers of aid. We wish to thank all nations who have offered their aid to our nation in this time of crisis. We truly and deeply appreciate these offers of help from the international community, and we view it as a positive sign that the nations of Europa can pull together regardless of history. But to the technicalities. Nea Thessalonika International Airport is once more fully operational for aircraft wishing to bring in supplies, and we have established a co-ordination centre there, from where we aim to co-ordinate the rescue effort. Please see RNN (our news thread) for more information regarding the resuce effort. We have also opened up the Imperial Air Force Base at Nea Thessalonika to more aid flights, having finally cleared the runway there of large peices of debris. However, only the ports of Nea Thessalonika and Hadrianopolis are open, as Naxoina is still blocked by sand and mud. We thank you once more; HIH Andronicus VII
Pirilao Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 To: Rhomanoi From: PIRILAO Ok, I understood the difficulties my aid follows of helicopter.
Rekamgil Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 To: Rhomanoi From: Rekamgil We are pleased to see that things are getting better in your nation. With this in mind we regret to anounce that we must withdraw two of our four RAMC units. As mentioned, two units will remain in Rhomanoi to continue the important work there, but we must transfer two of our units to Suverina, who are in the midst of economic collapse and have requested assistance. Since the most dire needs have, we hope, been met in Rhomanoi, we feel we must offer assistance to Suverina also. However, if you require anymore aid, please do not hesitate to ask. We can still offer more food, medical supplies, and monetary aid if you need it. We do not in any way wish to "abandon" our mission here (and this is why we are leaving two RAMC units with you) but we must also respond to another energency. We thank you in advance for your understanding. Sincerely, Director of Relief Services.
Rhomanoi Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 Official Imperial Communique With most rescue operations completed, we wish to formally announce the 'winding down' of the post-Hannibal rescue operation. We extend our mosty sincere thanks to all nations who sent aid, and we wish to re-assure the international community that we can now handle the rebuilding work, with the aid of the financial contributions already made. Thank you once more. OOC: Sorry this is a bit abrupt - I'm entering exam and coursework season, so I don't really have enough time to manage a thread of my own! Thank you!
Miiros Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 To: Rhomanoi From: The Free City It was an honor to be able to help your people in a time of crisis. Miiros values human life and peace above all other things, so it was our pleasure to aid your nation. Since you have announced you now have full control over the situation, we will now withdraw the teams we sent to your nation. However, if you need any further aid, do not hesitate to ask. May both our futures be bright. - Director of Miirosi Disaster Relief Services
Rekamgil Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Likewise an honour for Rekamgil. We must now withdraw our remaining RAMC units and all troops. We have to deal with the deepening crisis in Suverina and must devote our full attention there. We hope we have helped in Rhomanoi's recovery in some small way.
