The Northern Kingdom

OOC: I'll be roleplaying about those "Terrible and Ghastly wars" that forged the US.

IC:

King Carl Gustav I Sat upon his throne surrounded by his advisors. In front of him was arrayed a map of the Royal Kingdom of Strathyclyde. In the South was the Imperial Capital, Norgic. In the North, was the troublesome provinces and the Rebel capital of Stockholm. The Rebels have had enough of the increased war taxes, and the immense pressure of conscription into the Army of the Kingdom. The Kingdom of strathyclyde had been at war with thier neighbor Astoria for quite some time. The casualties were immense, but finally the end was in sight. All the king had to do was to rid his army of the problem of a revolt, and he would be secured.

" What is the approximate....troop...strength of the rebel forces in Stockholm? " The king asked his strategic military advisor.

"M'lord, they have no army so to speak. They are farmers with pitch forks and a few longbowman. nothing we cannot handle." was the response. The King sat back and took a long drink of wine from his golden cup. The year was 1452 AD, and the Kingdom had been at a state of war in one form or another for over 132 Years, with various states. It seemed that the seams of the Empire were coming undone, and with enemies surrounding her, the Kingdom's last days may yet be at hand. It would be up to the Victor of the Historic battle of Stockholm to decide what would be best for Strathyclyde. Peace...or War.

Running through the forest Dagon Rothul, the Earliest ancestor of Criax Rothul, Supreme US Kommando Commander in the Present day, Dagon came across a road station. A small hut and a few Knights, probably an advance guard for the approaching legions of The Imperial War Machine. He would have to warn the others. Retreating back to the Rebel base camp, the runner, Dagon, reported his findings to Sir Elabrej. The once decorated War Hero of the Kingdom was exiled for becoming too popular with the people. Indeed he now leads the popular forces against the Imperial Throne.

Thier forces were meager. About 4 Units of Militia, about 100 Strong each. Some light cavalry and 1 hastily constructed Magenel. It was not nearly enough to stop the impending attack. They would need help. Turning from his friends, Elabrej stroiked the stubble on his chin. He had not shaved in Days. Nor had he sleeped. Turning, he took his dagger, and plunged it into the table, piercing the map where astoria was. they were about 50 Miles from the Astorian Field camp, and regiona Military Camp in Strathyclyde.

"Gentlemen. It is clear that no matter how good of a commander I am, we need help." He turned to Dagon.

"I need you to go to the Astorian Troops. Garner support. No doubt that the Queen of Astoria would love to see the throne burn. Not only have they opressed us, but the Imperial Army has killed innocents of every nation."

The Runner acknowledged his orders, and took off on his run.

-----

Running past the few scouts of the Imperial Army, he passed a small sentry line with ease. It was manned by a few local, and non aligned militia. Astorians no doubt. He reached the main lines, and withdrew the white cloth from his satchel.

"I come under a truce of White Flag. I would like to request Parle." Dagon said.

The Pikeman in the front of the Sentry line was wary. He stripped Dagon of his weapons and they marched straight for the Command Tent...

"You expect me to believe that an Army of Rabble Peasants can hope to defeat the Legions of Gustav? Ha!" Said the queen in the command tent. She was here touring the front lines. It wasn't routine for her majesty to be so close to the battle these days.

Dagon rose, and with respect said,

"Your highness, I do not presume to know the future, but the very fabric of the empire is ripping. Several squabbling factions in the royal court have created schims that cannot be mended. The land is divided into to halves. The Upper and Lower Strathyclydes. All we ask is for 1,000 Astorian Troops."

The queen paused, and dismissed Dagon. She conversed with her advisors for about an Hour, and they allowed Dagon back in.

" I have considered your request, and have decided to give you 1,000 Troops. However my best general will command them. Not this, Elabrej man. You are dismissed. The troops will arrive tommorrow. "

Dagon left the Enemy camp, and headed back through the sentry lines, and informed Elabrej of the news.

The Legions of Gustav were arranged. 2,000 Knights, armoured for war, and thier horses. The peasant Rebellion was supposedly due North of the Imperial Camp. The mission was, quite obviously to wipe all of them out. There had been rumours of Astorian aide, but Gustav was sure that the Astorian queen knew a lost cause when she saw it.

"Tell the commanders to move out immediately. We've given them long enough" said the king, settling onto his war horse.

The trumpets sounded, and the March to war began. The Astorian troops 15 Miles away were assembled, along with the Few hundred Peasants. The rebellion knew they were doomed. It would take a miracle to save them.

Miracles were in season....
