Nevareion
Reports in the Nevareies Nova press today indicate that the long running fued amongst the Great House as to whom will take the coveted Lord Minister's Chair at the Grand Council is entering it's final phase. The long running factional dispute which has seen minor street battles, as is customary, as well as unusually high levels of bribes is coming to a head only a month after the election was announced. As a result of the emergency that caused the exodus from old Nevareion the Grand Council has been ruling under the strict terms of Traditional LawTM and as such only official Scions of the Houses may vote. After several candidates have withdrawn or admitted defeat only three Great House leaders remain in contention: Lord Karpor of House Karpor who is said to favour a strict isolationist policy; Lady Neban of House Neban who favours joining on or other of the grand alliances in the region and Lord Velarn of House Velarn who is said to prefer a mercantile approach to all areas of government. So far none are known to have sought to utilise foreign powers to gain influence or bribes but that can only be a matter of time. The Vitual MarketTM reacted positively to the news and was up 54 on the day. A spokesman stated that the market could see profit in all three candidates but refused to be drawn on his preference saying that he had yet to decide. Insiders say he is still negotiating a bribe with all three factions. In sport news Nevareia Nea FC today recorded a record signing as they....... Link to comment
Orioni
How interesting this news you bring us. Although we as a foreign nation have no say in this matter, let is be known that the Orioni Government prefers a combination of both Lady Neban of the House Neban and and Lord Velarn of the House Velarn. We deem the intentions of Lord Karpor of the House Karpor as less favorable for the regional (and our national) interests. Link to comment
Nevareion
From Lady Neban of the House Neban To Empress Orioni I read with interest your comments on our domestic situation and your preference for my candidacy for Lord Minister. Unfortunately such a campaign is extremely expensive in both bribes and in bounty paid to street activists. Any assistance you might wish to offer in would be gratefully received and would undoubtedly lead to favourable contracts for Orioni should House Neban gain control of the Grand Council. Lady Neban From Lord Velarn of the House Velarn To Empress Orioni Greetings. As an independent power you are sure to see the value in a strong and independent Nevareion Nova. As you may be aware the other candidates in the election are both lacking in their commitment to this ideal. Should House Velarn win we can garruntee to deliver this and at a profit for both of us. However we are facing House with large resources, both in wealth and street gangs. Any fincial help you can make available would help achieve our common aim and House Velarn does not forget it's friends when the time to hand out government contracts. I do hope we are able to come to an agreement that is good for both our great nations. Lord Velarn From House Karpor To Empress Orioni We are dismayed at your public statement on your dislike of our candidate's policies. Should we win and Lord Karpor become Lord Minister of Nevareion Nova we will make sure that not one Nevareies contract or trade agreement goes to an Orionian company. Secretary to Lord Karpor. However that would not exclude allowing certain trusted partners to share in our wealth creation. The Office of Lord Karpor Link to comment

Madame, you have obviously fundamentally misunderstood our electoral system. Bribery is entirely part of the process of obtaining high office. Equally we do not consider ourselves a democracy in your sense of th word, we are an oligarchy. Only genetic members of the Great Houses may stand for office or vote. We are an oligarchy. Nevareion
[OOC]not at all, the Nevareies system is just extremely corrupt and bribery is open. It is an oligarchy of the wealthy and does not pretend to be otherwise. It's system is something like the Venician one and the Great Houses something like legitimate and mainly law abiding mafia families. It's a nicer place than it sounds though lol. Not a rogue state, just one with an unusual system. Link to comment

Tagmatium would be greatly honoured if our proud nation and your esteemed and noble House were to join forces. We would give your good selves as much support in any area you find yourselves lacking when compared to your rivals, in order for you to succeed in your bid to win election as Lord Minister. We would happily supply cash to help fund your campaign, and Imperial troops or training and weaponry to complement your street gangs. In return, we would ask that you consider a closer working relationship between Nevareion Nova and the Greater Holy Empire, and also look at joining the League of the Treaty. Thus, we can more firmly cement both of our presences in the region and look forward to a blooming future. Link to comment
Nevareion
By private courier: From: Lord Velarn of the House Velarn To: Vice-President Walter Mart of the Corporation Federation We welcome your friendship and your proposal of assistance. House Velarn believes Nevareion should be the market place of the region , giving favour to none and discounts to it's friends. The funds you have forwarded will be a massive boost to our campaign, particularly as our spies tell us that the other Houses have not yet secured foreign assistance. The HcDonalds Chain can be assured of a favourable tax incentive to trade in our nation should House Velarn secure leadership of the nation and our own interests in the Nevareies arms industry would no doubt benefit from joint ventures with BigGuns Arms Store, particularly if further funds were forth coming to convince our managers of the wisdom of supporting our bid for Lord Minister. Lord Velarn By personal courier: T'Rothric We welcome your offer to work more closely. We are interested in your proposal as long as it does not circumvent the national interest of Nevareion Nova as we see it. That said we are extremely encouraged by your approach. We are unable to give proof as such things are rarely given in written form, to do so would be to invite disaster should our competitors gain access to them. However I give you my personal word that House Karpor does not forget it's friends and you have my personal word that your family would benefit from our mutual enterprise. Furthermore I am happy to offer a niece or nephew of my House in marriage to your fine family as a sign of our trust. Personally, Lord Karpor, Encoded Contact: From:Lady Neban, House of Neban To:The Ide Jiman Foreign Office Our position is that Nevareion Nova should be more engaged in the region with a partisan policy. We have not yet selected a position to take. That is likely to be influenced by the friends we make in foreign lands in the time leading up to the decision and assuming we are able to win. Currently the other competing Houses have far more street activists than ourselves as we have suffered a number of assainations amongst our key organisers. All appear to be members of House Neban. No House has yet been held responsible but police say they will investigate impartially. In other election news House Velarn began a massive poster and television campaign accross the nation. House Karpor accused them of accepting foreign bribes to gain an advantage but Lord Velarn stated that if their competitors were unable to budget effectively for the campaign then they should not be trusted to run the country. Anonymous polls put the competitors on the following points: Velarn 37% Neban 32% Karpor 20% Undecided 11% (+ or - 3%) Whilst combined official registers of voting intention from each House showed the following levels of support: Velarn 45% Neban 44% Karpor 40% (note, total percentage may exceed 100% due to distortion by polling groups owned by the Houses) Both sets confirm that the race is still wide open and that none of the Houses is yet able to be confident of the majority needed for them to call a snap vote. We feel that we have a great deal to offer your nation, in both military and economic terms. If you would allow such 'cells' of our forces to enter your nation, all you would need to do is tell us who to dispose of. Commando training may also be useful in street fights. Atop of this, our government diplomatic section informs us that a substantial sum of money is in the process of being readied to back the house of Neban. Our Trade Stats may also be favorable to your nation. Price cuts would be in order should a member the house of Neban come to hold the prestigious position of Lord Minister. Nevareion
Military standard encryption: From:Lady Neban, House of Neban Nevareion Nova To:The Ide Jiman MOD - Stormtrooper Department Security clearance: Eyes only Sirs, thank you for your offer. However it is unfortunately somewhat misguided. However you were not to know this. We would not wish to invite foreign troops into Nevareion Nova to participate in our Great House rivalries. Our cadres are quite capable of carrying out "agressive" political campaigning. Neither do we wish to see street warfare. Nevareies elections follow our strict Code of HonourTM and part of the code is no outsiders. Even were we to accept, should it become known, all of the other seven Great Houses would unite to wipe our House out and our family name would be blackened forever. We do welcome your support but financial means are quite within the CodeTM even if it is foreign money. Should such assitance prove forthcoming and your bribe not be outbid we will be happy to commit to alliance talks and would be very hopefull that profitable terms could be found for all parties. We hope that should we come to power Nevareion Nova and Ide Jima would be in a position ot open their markets to one another on an equal basis. Sincerely, Lady Neban. Link to comment

We offer our full support and backing, and this will extend to any financial costs that your bid may accrue that are over and above is expected in the process of your bid. We have come to realise the House Velarn is truely the house that should lead Nevareion Nova into the 21st Century and into closer relations between our two noble and honourable nations. If you do win the election, we can assure you that Nevareion Nova will have a leading part to play in the setting-up of the nuclear power grid in Tagmatium, as well as becoming leading, if not exclusive, supplier of fuel and training for the conceived "Holy Imperial Nuclear Power Grid", or HINPG. We will be ready to forward any cash to cover any costs already gathered in the process of the election, as soon as your honourable and noble lordship gives the word. Commodus James, Holy Emperor of Tagmatium ***Encoded Transmission*** To: Lady Neban, House of Neban From: The Greater Holy Empire of Tagmatium Subject: Backing We are shocked to hear of the underhand and disgusting assassination of several members of your honourable and noble House. Such things have no place in civilised nations and is obviously the work of barbarians in the pay of one of your rivals. We do hope that it is not too much of a blow towards your campaign. In light of this incident, we feel we would have to offer the services of Imperial troops to ensure the protection of your honoured self. But, as we have also studied the Code of Honour?, we realise that this is strictly impossible unless there was wish to jeopardise your campaign, which we have no wish to do. We, therefore, offer more money to ensure your safety, as well as that to cover a portion of any campaigning costs, to put you on an equal, if not better, footing than that of your rival, Lord Velarn.
