Orioni
ORIONI A400M Tactical Transport Aircraft (Click to enlarge) Mission The A400M is a military transporter designed to meet the requirements of the Imperial Airforce. Design The A400M has a much larger payload than the C-160 Transall and C-130 and the design makes extensive use of composite materials. The capability for short soft field landing and take off is part of the requirement and the aircraft has six-wheel high flotation main landing gear. The need for airdrops and tactical flight requires good low airspeed flight and the aircraft also has long range and high cruise speed for rapid and flexible deployment. It is capable of air-to-air refuelling as a receiver and can be converted to a two-point tanker within two hours. Cockpit The cockpit is fully night vision compatible and provides accommodation for two pilots and an additional crew member for special mission equipment operation. It will be fitted with a fly-by-wire flight control system developed for the civil airliners. Two sidestick controllers are installed to allow the pilot an unrestricted view of the electronic flight displays. The throttle controls are placed centrally between the two pilot stations. Countermeasures The defensive aids suite could include a radar warner, missile launch and approach warner, and chaff and flare decoy dispensers. The aircraft can also accommodate armour plating crew protection, bullet-proof windscreens, engine exhaust treatment for infrared emission reduction and inert gas explosion retardation and fire retardation in the fuel systems. The wings have hardpoints for the installation of electronic warfare pods and refuelling pods. Cargo Systems Orioni Industries Inc. is supplying the Loadmaster Control System for electronic cargo control. Loadmaster consists of a workstation and control panel, eight sidewall lock panels and a crew door panel. It provides efficient ground loading and airborne cargo drops. The payload requirements include a range of military helicopters and vehicles, heavy engineering equipment, pallets and cargo containers. The cargo bay can transport up to nine standard military pallets (2.23m x 2.74m), including two on the ramp, along with 58 troops seated along the sides or up to 120 fully equipped troops seated in four rows. For Medevac, it can carry up to 66 stretchers and ten medical personnel. Navigation The aircraft's independent navigation system comprises an Inertial Reference System (IRS) integrated with a Global Positioning System (GPS). Engines The four engines will each have a maximum output over 11,000shp. Orioni Industries Inc. will supply the eight-bladed composite variable pitch FH386 propellers. The propellers will be 5.33m (17.5ft) in diameter and are fully reversing with the capability to back the fully loaded aircraft up a 2% slope. Orioni Industries Inc. will also supply the propeller gearbox. The main landing gear shock absorbers maintain a minimum distance from the ground whatever the load. Messier-Bugatti will supply wheels and brakes. The aircraft will have two nose wheels and 12 braked wheels. Link to comment

Orioni
ORIONI DPV Desert Patrol Vehicle Introduction Built by Chenowyth Racing in El Cajon, California, the DPV is used by the Imperial Army for missions such as CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) and scouting behind enemy lines. They usually operate in pairs (for mutual support), and although they can reach speeds up to 80mph, they will usually travel at significantly slower speeds to prevent breakdowns that might compromise their missions. Performance The DPV is powered by a 200hp VW engine that is capable of accelerating it from 0 to 30 mph in only four seconds. With its 21 gallon capacity, the DPV has a range of about 210 miles. A fuel bladder with a 120 gallon capacity can also be carried, with it the DPV can patrol over 1,000 miles in one mission. Satellite GPS (Global Positioning System) systems help pinpoint the DPV's position as well as speed, bearing to the target, and distance from it. Weaponry The DPV can be armed with a vast array of weapons that make it a deadly adversary. The basic weapons suite is a .50 M2 heavy machine gun, two M-60 7.62 light machine guns, and two AT-4 anti-armor rocket launchers. In many cases the driver's M-60 or the gunner's M2 is swapped with a Mk19 40mm grenade launcher. Other weapons that can be carried are a low-recoil 30mm cannon and TOW missile launchers. In addition, the crew can carry M203 combos and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles for personal defence. Operational Range Three DPVs can be carried by one C-130 and air dropped for their missions. Additionally, DPVs will fit in the H-53 helicopter used by the Air Force and Navy. Link to comment

Orioni
Under Development ORIONI SC-1000 Transport Airship Mission The mission of the SkyCat 1000 as an ultra heavy lift air vehicle has been assessed by the United States Army in a study initiated in 2001. Operational Capacities The SC-1000 has a maximum payload capacity of one million kg, which is nearly ten times the capacity of a Boeing 747-200 freighter aircraft. The cruise speed of the SC-1000 is 185km/h, which is a fifth of the speed of the 747. The range is 7,408km compared to the 747's 8,700km range. Transportational Capacities The main cargo deck provides 195m? (2,100ft?) of clear loading space. The deck is fitted with a military load rated floor. The area above the door aperture provides an additional 195m? floor area and a number of mezzanine floors can be installed to provide additional deck area. Roll on/roll off ramps are installed in the fore and aft of the airship allowing fast and efficient embarkation / disembarkation to the cargo area. Flight Deck The flight deck accommodates two pilot stations which are fitted with conventional stick controls. The pilots have an exceptionally wide and deep field of view through the large transparent windows. The flight deck can also accommodate off duty flight and cabin crew or training crew members with 83.6m? of floor space available on the SC-1000. The dual-channelled optically signalled flight control system is based on fibre-optic technology or "fly-by-light" to send signals to the powered control actuators. Landing System The air cushion landing system is derived from hovercraft technology with hoverskirts installed on the underside of the outer hull section. The hover skirts are held flat against the hull by the air pressure which gives the hull an aerodynamic profile during flight and also allows an all round view from the cabin. The hover skirt and the hull pressure system are operated by the ballonet fans. Engines The SC-1000 is powered by six turboshaft engines, each rated at 11,185kW. One engine is installed on each side of the forward hull. Two engines are installed in the stern duct on each side of the hull with each engine driving a single propeller. The ship is equipped with a 28V DC electrical power system and a low pressure pneumatic system. The pneumatic system powers the flight control actuators. The pneumatic system provides very low susceptibility to lightening strike. Link to comment
