IJBC Broadcast: Ide Jiman Stormtrooper Air corps transport units have been seen heading straight for Rosario island in ex-Argenland. The government today released this statement, Justifying the move.

Announcement by the Ide Jiman government:

Following, the recent demise of the nation of Argenland, Ide Jima has noticed the surge of chaos that has spread across the ex-nation. Two Ide Jiman marine divisions today set out from Khamseen to secure the island of Rosario off the coast of Argenland. A stormtrooper battalion is preparing to airdrop onto the island in the next two hours, the marines will make landfall late tomorrow evening.

The reasons behind this move by the Ide Jiman government are as follows:

1) With Ex-Argenland now in chaos, Ide Jima deems it neccessary to see that nuclear technology does not fall into the wrong hands.

2) With the island under Ide Jiman control, it will serve as a valuable re-supply base for Ide Jiman long range sea patrols.

3) The Island will serve as the first landfall for an intricate undersea cable line, from Akkan to Khamseen. The island will cut maintanence costs on the cable by half.

4) Ide Jima has reason to belive the existence of substantial oil reserves deep beneath the surface of Rosario island.

5) A smaller force consisting of one marine company, is preparing to destroy all nuclear technology in Quilmes naval base. This however is only temporary, and will take at most one day.

TO: Ide Jima

FROM: Field Marshall von Steinburg, Tamurin

RE: Argenland

Tamurin supports the intervention of Ide Jima. A stabilization force is a good idea. We request to send observers into the country, so that a autonomous argelandian administration can be rebuilt inside the Republic of Ide Jima.

Regards,

von Steinburg,

acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff

TCN supports the idea of a stability force, but would like to see a committee set up to prevent this land from falling under Ide Jiman control.

TCN proposes that this land be used for a common organisation, or for new nations joining Europa, not for Ide Jima.

TCN is willing to send 1 Troop (25 men + support staff) of TCSF (see Military Information) to aid in this. We can use TCAiF to fly them to this area. They will be available for operations in 1 RL day.

Also to be flown in will be 1 Battalion (700 men + support staff) of the TCLD, these will be aviable for operations in 3 RL days.

I hope we can be of service to this troubled land.

Vanarambaion sees no need for more than one nation to undertake the reconstruction process of Argenland. To add more than one would make the process more complicated. Vanarambaion supports the occupation by Ide Jima, and only Ide Jima.

Althogh it was only an offer, I feel offended that TCN is always brushed away so lightly. That my calls for a committee have been ignored, and that my generous offer for troops has been shunned. If this tone is likely to continue throught Europa, against TCN, I will have to review our policies on aid, military support to non-allies, financial support..etc..

Thank you for support. Once marine units have secured all major centres of population, your observers are welcome.

You have our gratitude for support in this matter, we will be sure to return it at some point.

As Vanarambaion has so sensibly put it: this job is for our military alone. Besides that you are the kind of nation we would not want to conduct military operations with. We suggest you stay out of this, we see no real grounding for you not wanting Rosario island under our control other than the fact that TCN is a bitter nation.

The Ide Jiman war office.

TagEdit: Thread closed, in case Argy makes a return. Thanks, all!

Topic re-opened. If Argenland does come back in the future, Ide, you may have to make some concessions to him.

(OOC: heyheyheyheyhey. Not so fast. That space center (Raulan) is MINE by treaty with Argenland (and named Konstantinos). It has an armed security force of 250 militarymen and some staff that can also participate in fight (they have minimal soldier training and handguns) so you can not just snatch it. Link to treaty: http://s7.invisionfree.com/Europa/index.php?showtopic=306)

TO: All concerned

From: Byzantine Empire

Byzantines will not accept any treaty where our Konstantinos Space Center would trade owner. It was ours and will be ours. Any attack or claim on it will result in war as it is part of the Grand Empire and will remain so. Already a fleet of several warships is preparing to make sure that no-one will claim our property.

Do whatever you wish with the rest of the island.

You have been warned.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazy dayshift in BSC (Byzantine Strategic Control) that monitores all military action outside of mainland Byzantium is rudely interrupted.

"Attention all personnel, attention all personnel. DEFCON 3 declared, this is no drill, repeat, DEFCON 3 declared this is no drill."

"Send 1st Airborne division to Konstantinos Center NOW. Alert the 1st fleet. and place all strategic bombers on airborne alert. What is our submarine status in the area?"

"One in immediate vicinity, five within four-hour respond area sir!"

"Good, tell them to arm their non-nuclear warheads and proceed in following positions."

Commander hands a paper to his subordinate.

"Yes, sir!"

"Contact MilHQ and ask a permission to use Imperial Guard detachment or two. We may need them. If they give them dispatch them immediately to Konstantinos."

"Yes, sir!"

I've notified the cartographer. The "Konstantinos Space Center" is the property of Byzantinum Nova, not Argenland. I guess that this detail was not recognized.

ooc: How is this going to work? Several thousand Ide Jiman troops just walking into Konstantinos whilst there are still BN troops there is kind of... weird wink.gif perhaps if I just start kicking up a fuss about things... and go forward assuming BN still has control over Konstantinos, is that good?

ic:

Ide Jiman Rosario High Command...

"Sir! There are large numbers of Byzantine (is that right?) troops heading towards Konstantinos..."

"What!?... set alert status to high, and have the airforce switched to red alert, be prepared to intercept any intruders... Cordon off the border with Konstantinos, send major Kyan to forward all this to Serekan, they'll try to do this peacefully..."

Upon receiving notification, the MOD in Serekan forwarded this message to Byzantium Nova...

We appreciate that you may have taken Konstantinos from Argenland by treaty. But Ide Jima now controls Rosario island, we reccomend that you cede Konstantinos to us, now that the political tension between your nation and Argenland no longer exists. If neccessary we would be willing to pay the price of 4 Billion Ide Jiman Pounds for the base, along with giving you the chance to take away or destroy any technology housed there. We hope there can be a peaceful solution to this problem, we would hate to go to war with Byzantium Nova, as it is the great nation of Southern Europa which has always been admired by the People of Ide Jima.

Edit: I made the offer more plausible, adding the money part, instead of asking nicely, which wouldn'y have got things anywhere...

OOC: Hmmmm... icecream.gif

The news arrived on the desk of, still weak from his illness, Chef Willy. He carefully read the report. His advisors around him kept their mouths, but felt the tension in the air. "I'm tired of this", he finally said in a calm voice: "those imperialists keep grabbing land like Europa is their litle playgarden."

Condo Rice noted that the alliance is strong, the strongest in the entire region, and that's it better to avoid them or we will get crushed.

"It's a League-buisness", Willy said, ignoring her arguments.

"It will be a war where nobody will win."

The Chef kept talking to himself: "If the imps won't back down this time, I will bring this matter to the League. I hope the (bureau)crats won't slow things down this time. It will be a beautiful test. A test to see if the members, in case of destress, will follow their interests... or the Chapter."

(OOC: No problem IJ I was still around from time to time but hadn?t really posted anything since start of the summer so I can see why you thought I was gone.)

From: Byzantine Empire

To: Ide Jima

The Konstantinos Center is and will be a part of our empire. It will not be sold or given away in any circumstances. However we are willing to sing a similar treaty with you as we had with Argenland as we signed said treaty in similar situation.

The treaty would be as follows:

1. The space center, its port facility and an area of 1 km around them is byzantine territory and thus governed by byzantine laws. Rest of the island will belong to Ide Jima.

2. Byzantine will not use the space center for military purposes and will not refuel or stop with warships or military airplanes at the center. No sizable military force and no heavy weapons such as tanks or artillery are garrisoned or kept in the area of the space center. There will only be a garrison of 250 soldiers in addition to normal personnel for purpose of keeping order. Byzantines will keep things like this as long as Ide Jima will not bring any artillery or tanks near enough to attack the center and will keep its other forces in the vicinity of the space center at minimum.

If you accept this we can easily make a deal for you to use Konstantinos?s services. We hope you accept our offer as war is not good for anyone in this situation. If you do not accept we may be forced to annex whole island to keep the space center secured, lets hope there is no need for that.

We find your treaty most agreeable. We will gladly sign it, and we hope that no such misunderstandings will occur between our two nations in the future. We would also like request one other thing, although it does not involve you giving us anything, we would like to request the support of Byzantium Nova in an upcoming invasion of Vulcan island (Neutral island south of TCN) by the Ide Jiman armed forces. You can abstain from this if it means the treaty will not go ahead, but you are the other major power in the region, and your support would do great things to our invasion efforts. Our forces on Rosario island have been taken off alert, we hope you will do the same with yours.

We are glad that agreement on this matter has been reached. We will move our forces back in peacetime status. What comes to the Vulcan island it is not in our area of interests and thus we would like to abstain from the situation if it will resolve itself peacefully. However should conflict appear we will reconsider the situation and back you.

Glad to see we have come to an agreement. We will hassle Konstantinos no more. We thank you for acknowledging our claims to Vulcan island. (No worries Haken! You can fuss about that laugh.gif ) We hope to see greater co-operation between our nations in the future.

Vulcan Island 0300 Hours...

The 6 Airforce AN-124 Paratrooper jets flew high above the volcanic island. Onboard each, 350 Airforce Paratrooper Units, fully equipped with armour and artillery waited with baited breath. The back hatch creaked open, and a green light came on. The troop leaders yelled 'go,go,go!" and the troops filed off the aircraft falling to the island below. The lines of troops in the sky were broken only by the occasional IJ-26 Airborne Howitzer on a parachute and rocket retarded pallet. As the paratroopers landed, they lit flares for marine units out at sea. Hovercraft full of marines loomed out of the early morning mist on the sea.

It was still dark, but further inland the ominous outline of the massive volcano on the island could be seen... light from the lava inside illuminated the jagged outline. Once ashore, each of the hovercraft unloaded 200 marines, 4 Warrior (or M1 Bradley) IFVs and 2 Stingray light tanks. Within 2 hours, cross country motorbike patrols had reached the north coast of the island and were already setting up seismometres to ensure that there was enough warning in the case of the volcano erupting.

By the morning a main camp was established on the southernmost spur of the island. The commander of the units on Vulcan was Colonial Commander Keitel. The main camp was based around the south beach on the bay. There were over 60 tents, and on a salt flat to the east a temporary airfield was set up, complete with 6 Tornado F.3s and 2 F/A-22A Raptors. Total armed forces strength on the island by the end of day 1 was 6,900. Along with the marines and airforce paratroopers, was 1 company of 300 stormtroopers, making sure that everything was running smoothly.

-------------------------------------------------

Back in Serekan, the Armed Forces Chiefs of Staff waited for the outcry that would surely come from the LotT, as more and more troops were moved to reinforce the island...

Akiiryu supports Ide Jima's annexations of the territories in question. It is also thankful that Ide Jima could reach an understanding with the noble nation of Byzantium Nova, an historic ally of the Sublime Principate.

Akiiryan troops are prepared to aid Ide Jiman forces if so required (OOC: keep in mind the Southern Fleet remains in Ide Jiman waters).

The Baronic Council announced today that approximately 500 Sea Guards seconded to the R.A.N. Southern Fleet landed on Vulcan island in support of Ide Jima's annexation of the island. The Baronic Council stated these troops were an advanced party of a much greater force commited to helping Ide Jima bring stability to the island.

Holy Imperial Press Statement

We do not condone either the invasion of Vulcan Island by Ide Jiman forces, or the stationing of yet more SPA soldiers into the area. We think this is adding yet more tension in an area that is already near boiling point.

We do think this is violating the soverign right of one of the Greater Holy Empire allies, and so request both the Akiiryan forces and Ide Jiman forces to be withdrawn into international waters, away from The Chosen Nations.
