Tagmatium Rules Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Anyone up for this sort of thing? I don't have any particular ideas, but as I've been doing alot of research for my history project recently, I need some form of out let, and until I get a tap installed this'll have to be it. Man, but that makes me sound crazy...
Senator Gaius Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I'd be in, i'm going to be doing Medieval History at University, and i did my A-level study on the crusades. Bloody good idea tag
Tagmatium Rules Posted July 23, 2005 Author Posted July 23, 2005 I got it from Aki - I was looking at the Nasi board sometime ago, and it caught my eye. Plus it's the period I'm interested in personally, like a few of us Europans, apparently. Â I was thinking 1000's for the time period - nice and early, still in the "Dark Ages", hasn't quite got the shine on it that the later middle ages has, if you understand me. Â As for whats going on, hey, that's what this thread is for. Although, as we, in the normal RPs, general communicate in either telephone, e-mail or telegram messages, it might be a problem. Also distances. Akiiryu and Tagmatium are hardly walking distance. Again, plundering from the Nasi thread and Aki, he proposed it was more character based than nation based, although I of course want to try out Tagmatines in Medieval period. Tell me to shut up if I go on.
Senator Gaius Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Well, whatever. Good idea to you all! Â By the way, is this gonna be medieval real history, or medieval europan history
Haken Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Bwoaf, a good horse and good rider can bring a message quite fast.
Tagmatium Rules Posted July 24, 2005 Author Posted July 24, 2005 Yeah, didn't think of that. And it depends on road networks and the like. Or lack of, considering they were mainly dirt tracks.
Haken Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 The mongols had a good system that allowed to send a message across their large empire in a few days.
Senator Gaius Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Most of europe didn't have the organisation of the mongols though
Haken Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Most of europe didn't have the organisation of the mongols though True, just showing it could be and was done fast.
Niederoestereich Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 If you gunna have a medieval RP, i would join in. Could be some fun, even though i prefer 1700+ history.
Tagmatium Rules Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 Anyone got any ideas for a story? I was going to have it taking place in the Unexplored Region in the East, but what ever suits everyone else.
Dragonryders Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 The Unchartered East would be great, since I imagined that that would be where the Dragonryders could've been isolated since Medieval Times. I don't know why and how they were isolated, but this story could 'give some insight', I guess. I'd be happy to be in.
Tagmatium Rules Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 My idea for Tagmatium in the RP is that they've just had an attempt on the throne by an heir of a previous emperor, which was defeated in a battle. This heir has now jumped on a boat and gone of with the survivors of his bodyguard. A small force of loyalists have gone after him, to either bring him back to Tagmatium or kill him. And they've pursued them to the eastern lands.
Senator Gaius Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Karthenia is still in the "warring states" phase of it's history, but i suppose one side could have Karthene mercenaries...I like the mercenary idea for medieval RP
Tagmatium Rules Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 A Karthenian'll do anything for a shiny penny, eh?
Senator Gaius Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 *thwacks Tag* Â For a shiny bag of gold, we'll kill everyone you want.
Vanarambaion Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Man, even Tag's getting in on the Karthenia-bashing. It really is a party  What's the time period again?
Dragonryders Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 (edited) I was thinking: Around the year 1000, The The Nomadic Peoples of Dragonryders were the Empire of Dragonryders. They were imperialistic/expansionistic and had a huge country. In that period, the army (with soldiers on flying dragons) and structure of the Empire was unmatched. Â But the tribes they ruled were only conquered, not defeated. Â I suppose your refugees land somewhere on Dragonryder's territory. Â This story can explain why the Dragonryders were isolated for over a thousand years and what happened to the once prosperous and vast Empire. Â Something like that... Phil VII Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 hmm, this could be interesting, i've had some things going on the last week or so and so havnt been on NS or europa at all, but i should be able to be online fairly reguleraly now, so i can try and start RPing again. Â i havnt writtn any history for my nation pre 1700's, i was thinking about maybe making us into a pirate nation of some sort, of course, the Phil's only came around in the 1800's, so i would have to be called somthing else, but yeh, this could be intersting
