A nice picture of the sky by Bill.

Is it a bird?

By your reporter: Ted

Various citizens of our beloved town in the east of the confederacy of the Mongol-Swedes, have sighted strange things in the skies. Earl, who has recently repainted his home, said: "It looked like some kind of giant bird, about 30 metres long".

His wife Gina told me another story: "Must've been a tiny plane. It was a bit cloudy, so I couldn't really see what it looked like exactly, but I think it was about 10 metres. It was gone before I knew it."

After interviewing a couple more people, I found out the stories strongly deviate. They all agreed it flew quite quickly, but the dimensions of it varied between 10 metres to 500 metres. But that was Peter's observation, so we know what that means.

Bill, our shopkeeper, mentioned: "What if it was some kind of alien ship? I heard the aliens dropped some debree near Tamurin, too! It'll be great for business with all them tourists and all." Deborah wasn't so pleased: "If the aliens attack from the West, we will be the first town they come across! Who's going to save us then? I demand protection!"

Even though the emotions of some ran wild, Ed was more down to earth: "Ah, heck. It's probably just some stupid bird", to which Peter responded: "Are you calling me a liar??!" Bill quickly came in between the two and remarked: "No, Peter, but you do need new glasses." Everybody immediately burst out in laughter. Including Peter.

With the eye on the coming expeditions to the east, I thought it was fun to let a Dragonryder fly too near to the civilized world.

MSNBC General Broadcast (Strange Bird Sighted Over The Tribelands)

NewsDay Highlight: The Mongol-Swedes National Meteorological Service recently sighted a strange, unidentified species that, according to a spokesman with the Service, "appears to show bird-like features, but it also has an almost reptilian look to it." The Tribal Tribunal has authorized the Sub-Tribunal on the Environment to dispatch a surveillance team to determine the origins of the creature.

OOC: @Akiiryu You do have a point there... Let's just say there's been a nuclear meltdown* and the cows have been affected in a way that they now have long tails, necks and wings and a reptile kind of appearance. rolleyes.gif

The Dragonryders are medieval-tech, shut off from civilization for millenia. (How the nuclear reactor got there is a mystery, but since medieval-tech people were to operate it, the probability of a meltdown is quite realistic.)

*Research into the exact origins of the dragons is in progress (that does not involve an unlikely nuclear meltdown), I see. That is, if the researchers can somehow obtain a sample.

OOC: Vanarambaion's national animal is the dragon. I'd tell you to look at my nation, but it's still not back yet.

However, our dragon's generally do not have wings and are incapapble of flying. Perhaps an adaptation due to Vanarambaion's status as an island nation? Who knows. Anyway...

IC: The Vanarambaion High Command sent out a warning today putting the nation on high alert. Anti-aircraft guns were mounted, and swivelled constantly in the sky throughout all the major cities. The UFOs were considered "armed and dangerous," and every precaution was taken to make sure the people of Vanarambaion did not suffer from these strange things.

I doubt it. So long as its all kept with reason, like there's no "Independence-Day" sort of alien attack, or crazy magicks users. I mean, dragons are sort of like flying dinosaurs, so who says they couldn't have avoided whatever it was that killed the dinosaurs, and lived on somewheree else?

OOC: My national animal is the pink fluffy dinosaur. How's that for an imaginative animal. wink.gif

semi-kind-of-OOC: @ Ide Jima: 1.) The dragonryders have been isolated in medieval tech. Recieving the telegraph is a bit difficult. dry.gif

2.) We haven't been officially discovered yet. Somehow. laugh.gif

3.) We ride on these dragons, like horses only then in the sky. wink.gif

Have you perhaps addressed it to the wrong nation? (Are you feeling very sleepy?)
