Hello! Most people on this forum knows me as "that map guy", or "that country with the slavery". But since the 27th of March of this year I have been given the title of "Cartographer", which holds moderator privileges only in regards to the map, Orioni and the other admins still has final say. My role is to process map related requests and questions on the forum and (hopefully) allow for faster map updates. Orioni is still the head of cartography - as he is the only one who can update the forum's main map - but hopefully with both of us working together we can produce wurld maps at a greater rate. Below will be a AtaQ (Assumed to-be asked Questions), a new set of g…

Map Megathread I've noticed two things on Eurth: 1. People often need maps that are different from those currently provided. 2. Theres a lot of great cartographers and digital artists on the Discord but that work is often unappreciated and flies up the channel as someone else posts their own map. This thread, I hope, will solve both these issues. The first post on this thread (this one) will be updated with each map update (not draft) with all the up-to-date maps the Cartographer(s) have. Anyone is free to post in this thread with their own maps, give explanations/lore and others can give feedback and/or appraisal. v5.15 Maps (all Imgur links) …

Naming the Seas 1 2

Right now we have names for Oceans and some local seas. http://www.europans.com/map/ But there is certainly still room for more detail. If you're a coastal or maritime nation, share your naming ideas for a: Sea - a sea or marginal sea is a division of an ocean, partially enclosed by islands, archipelagos, or peninsulas, adjacent to or widely open to the open ocean at the surface, and/or bounded by submarine ridges on the seafloor. Strait - a narrow area of water connecting two wider areas of water. Bay - generic term; though most features with "Bay" in the name are small, some are very large. Gulf - a very large bay, often a top-leve…

With oceans and seas slowly getting their names, it's time we have a look at mountains and mountain ranges. Do you have a mountain in your own nation? Let us know where it is and what name you'd like to give it, and it can be marked with a 🔺 Please do try to be more original than everyone's apparent favourite Mt. Olympus. Here is a list to help you on your way: Mountain - a mountain is generally steeper than a hill. Mountain range - a series of mountains or hills ranged in a line and connected by high ground; mountain ranges are usually segmented by highlands or mountain passes and valleys. Massif - a large mountain mass or compact group of…

Original Map Request At the time of my original map request, I did not have any idea as to the internal borders of Poja and much less the placement of any cities. The current placement of Rugi is more than fine but I would like to have added the 7 regional capitals to the map on the next update. The very amazing (/s) map below identifies the 7 cities and the internal borders of the 7 regions of Poja. In fact, technically it's not correct because Rugi is not identified as separate from Liaria (green) but that's neither here nor there for this request. Just something for anyone to consider. The numbers and the little dots identify where the cities would …

After many long years of my presence in the island of Ceris, it's time for Hodrea to join the fold. This is Hodrea's moment to prove how far it has grown. It has recently discovered almost a hundred thousand of its people had been stolen away in the Sentist War and moved the the Oclait territory. (See the previous adventures of @Iverica in the Oclait here.) This discovery is intolerable and its people demand their rescue and the final destruction of the Northern Sentist armies to secure the future of Hodrea and Ceris as a whole. And other elements of Commandant Wolf's conquest are deeply against his rule. A more benevolent warlord named Armin Saller has …

Part Two Part One In light of the recent occupation of Corinium by both @Seylos and @Haruspex, the northern entrance of the Adlantic is now in the hands of foreign powers. Certainly, one of those foreign powers is an ally and the other one is friendly towards Tagmatium, but they are still other nations whose interests cannot always be expected to align with those of the Greater Holy Empire. Especially those damned savages. The Seylosians. Making a permanent military presence on the islands and enlarging the civilian population will make the Tagmatine hold on the islands secure. The plan will be to eventually make a port that is capable of acting a…

Eurth Ethnolinguistic Map Project Hello all, this thread is to be used for posting your nation's ethnolinguistic make-up, this can either be as a simple map or as a written description. At the end multiple maps of the different ethnolinguistic groups of Eurth will be made, instead of a single messy map, and added to the Map Directory. All members are welcome to post their nation's ethnolinguistics. If your nation uses concultures/conlangs you can also add their nearest linguistic/cultural/genetic neighbours. If they have none, they will be added on a separate culture map made for concultures. An example of what the individual maps would look like. This one fo…

It's been an hell of a long time since I RPed an expansion of Tagmatium's borders. Over a decade, in fact. I am going to claim two areas, although I cannot promise that these will be completed any time soon. The first part, the six islands between my nation and Deltannia, will run roughly concurrently with my Spots thread, and will be directly affected by the developments within it. Some of it was initially planned over a year ago, but I never got around to actually doing it. It will also help me sketch out my personal retcon of the old Long War. As it was, it was became unworkable for me. That conflict defined the middle of the 1900s for Tagmatium and made the count…

IAA Intercontinental Antargic Administration (Temporary flag) History: Two major Antargic negotiations came and passed and left many nations around the globe disillusioned that any progress will ever be made. Frustrated at the perceived failure of these talks as well as the waning presence of the ISTC in Antargis, several nations began early talks into stepping onto Argis together. The group knew they were bound to make several enemies in the process, however a large scale effort working together could enforce a collective claim. Present Day Mission: After several years of planning, their efforts would be set into motion. The IAA was forma…

Good morning everyone. This is my first expansion. I do not want to claim anything in the present, but prefer to create some historic consistencies. Here is my idea. Ocean currents The islands of Orioni sit near the tail end of the Meteorolan archipelago. Nearby ocean currents lead eastward, into and across the Oriental Ocean. (For more information, you can consult the ocean currents map on our IIWiki page.) To the south, there is the Equatorial Counter current from @Niederoestereich to @Sunset Sea Islands and onward. To the north, there is the North Oriental current to Alharu, used by @Iverica to successfully complete the historically important Gra…

The Confederation of Kelija “The Switzerland of Alharu” Many a time, I have thought about expanding across the Keelpijip. However, I always lacked a real reason to do so. Additionally, I was always hesitant because expanding across the Keelpijip would instil the threat that one day Baltica might try to do some funny business in the Keel, something that has been done before and resulted in massive backlash and trouble. But I think I've come to the point where I have proven that I am capable of both working with others in large-scale RP projects and that I am both reasonable and willing to cooperate with others. This is why I'd like to present to you not an expansion, …

Map application form ----- Nation on Eurth: The Kingdom of Boaga National Flag: Capital Name: Baratza Capital Location: The Capital is along the more temperate side of the coastal region. Starter Stats: My personal roleplaying philosophy involves me treating "stats" as a form of window dressing, so instead of delving through numbers I would like to describe the vibe of the nation. Geographically it is on the larger end, with a smaller population density with more populated cities along the coast and in important river intersections. Large swaths of the county are rural and featured preserved forests and mountainous regions. Culture: Predominantly Basq…

Hi everyone, here is my first historical expansion. This is my first and last one; I do not wish to expand further and prefer to focus on the lore and anecdotes of Pecario. My idea is as follows: I discussed with Florentia the possibility of Lysian settlers leaving Florentia (then under Lysian rule) in the late 17th century to attempt to colonize a part of Mesothalassa. The rumors of wealth that Iberic conquistadors had discovered may have attracted foreign powers to take an interest in Mesothalassa at that time. Lysia then sends colonists to establish a colony in the East in 1665. A city is founded called "Saint-Louis," and the colony gradually begins to expand…

Mention: @Xio (sorry for the ping ^^”) Hello hello! Since I came back and the RP I was doing with Louvier is now different from what we started, I'd like to update the request I did for my expansion too in the “Louvier expansion request topic”. Since now Louvier doesn't exist any more, I'd like for Anatea to claim the territory that Louvier would have annexed after the war with Azuria ended, updating the claim map like this: BUT since it's a good chunk of territory, I'd like to divide my expansion in two phases: Phase one – The Anatean vs Azurian War I'm role-playing right now. Phase two – The Annexation of Azuria through another R…

I'm here to bring you news on an expansion I have long been talking about over on Discord, that I hope many of you have seen/followed as I've been teasing various planned plotlines, maps and other work on the area. After talking with @Ionio over discord the past few weeks we have decided to expand our countries, I believe we both fit the criteria and can fit this conflict into the wider Anglian war. So Little backstory on the NPC: Tengrolhan is an Aurelian native nation utilising my native group the Tengrols, in 2011 they would be coup'd by the Fascist Party Uridhaach, whose main goal would primarily be focused on reclaiming the former territory of the ancient Tengrol Empire who had dominated Central Aurelia for centuries and unite all Tengrol ethnic peoples, which of course would make them quite aggressive to both Ionio and Advocatius given they have territory of majority Tengro…
