Press Release: Faramount Requests Bids for New Naval Designs

The Democratic Republic of Faramount invites bids for its planned acquisition of three classes of vessels. Faramount will accept bids from any government, corporation, or other entity, provided that it is based in a nation that has diplomatic relations with Faramount. Bids should be submitted to the Ministry of Defense of the Democratic Republic of Faramount, and addressed to the Minister of Defense, Marshal Raymond Foquet.

1. Patrol Ship.
The Faramanian Naval Force seeks to acquire a class of small ships for epipelagic and mesopelagic search and rescue, law enforcement, and patrol operations. This ship needs to be generally seaworthy with a particular capability of operating in hurricane conditions in areas with a depth of up to 200 meters. The ship should be armed with a Giat M811 25mm gun and at least two MAC-58 heavy machine guns. Faramount is willing to accept ships of an existing class, or even used ships (as long as laid down in the last 15 years), to serve this role. Faramount seeks 3 ships altogether.

2. Littoral/Riverine Patrol Boat.
The Faramanian Naval Force seeks to acquire a class of patrol boats for riverine and littoral operations. This should be a reliable, sturdy class of non-wooden boats featuring screw and rudder protection against groundings, parts interchangeability with the small patrol boat to the extent possible, and a sensor suite including a depth meter, reliable long-range communication equipment, and a small radar system good for 1000-1500 meters. The boats should be capable of self-sufficient operation during a 600-800 kilometer patrol. The boat should have quiet engines to the extent possible while still achieving a max speed of 30-40 knots. The boats should be as compact as possible with a length of around 15-20 meters, a width of around 5-6 meters, and a draft not to exceed 1.25 meters. There should be sparse berthing, no messing, and limited room for passengers. The boats should be armored to withstand small arms fire; ideally, a boat should be able to continue operating after being struck by a rocket propelled grenade. The boats should be armed with a MAC-58 heavy machine gun, plus mounts for two additional medium machine guns or rocket launchers. The boats should be designed to have interchangeable parts to the greatest degree necessary with the small patrol boat class. Faramount seeks the design of a new class of boats to fulfill this role; Faramount will be seeking to purchase a a minimum of 100 of these boats over ten years.

3. Riverine/Port Patrol Boat.
The Faramanian Naval Force seeks to acquire a class of small boats for riverine and port operations. This should be a reliable, sturdy class of non-wooden boats featuring screw and rudder protections against groundings, parts interchangeability with the littoral/riverine patrol boat to the greatest extent possible, and a depth meter. The boats should have quiet engines to the extent possible while still achieving a max speed of 30-40 knots, and a maximum range of around 250 kilometers. The boats should be as compact as possible with a length of around 8-9 meters, a width of around 2.5 meters, and a draft not to exceed a meter. Obviously, there should be no berthing or messing. The boats should have basic armor screens to protect the driver and gun operator. The boats should be armed with an AA-52 medium machine gun. Faramount seeks the design of a new class of boats to fulfill this role; Faramount will be seeking to purchase a total of 50 of these boats at minimum.
